Usually there are multiple tells that a video was faked, but here it is only condensed story telling (the whole story is told from start to finish in 37 seconds, real life is a little more boring that), and from candles to full on torch in 2 seconds that gives it away.

I saw a demo of this material at a NASA seminar once. The guy held a tile of it in his hand, toasted the other side to near-glowing with a blow torch, and 5 seconds later flipped it onto his other hand. The whole room flinched.

Last year I was using famous speeches to teach English here in Thailand. One that I chose was JFK's "We Choose to go to the Moon" speech, so I remember that some of the words that followed the titular ones were "we choose to go to the moon in this decade".

I guess what I'm saying is, JFK couldn't have been 100% certain that whoever his predecessor would be would actually keep up that torch, but it was still a worthy goal and a worthy speech. Maybe (probably) Obama's speech mentioning going to Mars by the 2030's won't have that sort of impact, but it's a start and better than nothing.

After all, I think that we'd like to look back and give JFK more credit for getting us to the moon than "tricky Dick" Nixon, who ended up being the actual sitting president when we did get to the moon. And within the decade, just as JFK had said!

It's been a slow build and they give her and her dragons very little screen time, so it feels like I've been waiting forever, but, fucking wow, what an awesome scene this was.
