The Dukes of Stratosphear - 25 O'Clock

NicoleBee says...

Man. I've had this song forever, labelled as a They Might Be Giants song. I got it from the age of mistitled Napster mp3's.

Edit: Oops -
"On the tribute album A Testimonial Dinner: The Songs of XTC, American alternative rock band They Might Be Giants contributed a cover version of "25 O'Clock"."

Octopus Project - I Saw the Bright Shinies

oritteropo says...

Vimeo description:

Animated by Austin illustrator Divya Srinivasan, this animated video depicts three sleepy ghost kids following a heterochromic fox through a snowy twilight. When the group discovers an impromptu critter disco in a forest clearing, the spirits and strays dance in harmony until a cranky babushka bemoans the noise and breaks up the party. Thus, the spectral youths return to the astral plane... but not without a final farewell to their new found animal friends.

Divya Srinivasan has previously created animated videos for Spoon ("Everything Hits at Once"), They Might Be Giants, The Sundance Channel and Wonder Showzen, and worked on Richard Linklater's "Waking Life" feature film. Divya's illustration portfolio includes numerous pieces for the New Yorker magazine, as well as the album artwork for Sufjan Stevens' Illinois and This American Life's "Stories of Hope and Fear" collection.

"I Saw The Bright Shinies" is from The Octopus Project's album "Hello, Avalanche," released in 2007 on Peek-A-Boo Records. The "Bright Shinies" video appears on the "Golden Beds" enhanced CD EP released in 2009 on Peek-A-Boo Records.

They Might Be Giants covers the worst song of the 90s

They Might Be Giants covers the worst song of the 90s

Surely Ween's "Push th' Little Daisies" was the worst song from the 90s? Maybe this was the 2nd worst?

At least in the US, "Push th' Little Daisies" gets a break because, upon hearing it, everyone promptly recognized how horrible it was and never played it again.

"Tubthumping", on the other hand, enjoyed regular airtime for what seemed like an eternity and was touted by every drunken ass-clown in the country as a great song.

What always struck me about Chumbawamba was that they've got like 15 fucking members and, evidently, none of them can write a song. I'd expect better odds than that if I were just picking random people off the street.

The comment only has one two downvotes so far. I'll be checking my car carefully for devices before getting in though, avoiding dark alleys, and keeping my curtains drawn

Funny thing is that the Ween fans I know don't actually defend that song terribly much.

You should sift that, and start a worst of the 90s playlist. I'm only slightly concerned that I'll own all of them on cd already (I was just pleased the 80s was over).
>> ^kymbos:

oritteropo, Ween fans are particularly passionate. You're in dangerous territory. Personally, if anything challenges Tubthumping, I think this song could be the worst of the 90s: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7290489683539680492

A revolutionary new concept: Getting the F**k Out of the Way

>> ^Sagemind:
Truly Awesome - You know everyone has thought it and you know we've all said it - You just wish you could say it outloud so "That" person can hear you!!!
There are people out there that just have no clue that there are other people around - Stuck in their own world!
"They might Be Giants" had a song called "Nyquil Driver" that sums it up as well - Not a lot in the lyrics dept. but gets the poiont across:
Hey Nyquil driver, It's Nyquil driving time
Hey Nyquil driver, Get outta my lane, Get outta my way
I officialy call them "Nyquil Drivers" now!

Wish? I say it... I say it so they CAN hear it. For example, I say it at work (I work in warehouse with many people who have "no clue"). Sometimes it works, and they actually learn... sometimes it doesn't, they just do not hear you as they are "stuck in their own world" (so next time I say it louder), or I swear some people act dumb on purpose ... (??).

Sometimes I hold my tongue if the person in my fucking way is much bigger than me... I say sometimes, because if there are plenty of people around it makes the big tough guy look stupid (ha!), and I might give it a go if I have a clear escape route.

Otherwise yeah, I have no problem telling people to get out of my fucking way! or as I usually put it... "FOR FUCKS SAKE MOVE!!"
