The Universal Hot Crazy Matrix on Women

Sagemind says...

So lets consider...
Any person (Male or Female) goes through a careful mental checklist (in their mind) on what they consider to be a good mate.

1). It would seem natural that a typical person would rule out crazy.
Crazy, as defined as someone who is in direct contrast to another's beliefs, views actions and reactions.

2). It would seem natural that a typical person would pick a mate that would be attractive to them. Attractive defined as healthy, a great attitude on life, dedication to the other member, and a decent outlook on raising children mentally and physically. I'll also add that "certain something" or "spark" that appeals and catches one's eye. (Attractiveness is NOT defined by the media's representation of men or women, it's a personal choice based on any persons likes and dislikes)

3). It would also seem natural that we all have a certain amount of self doubt. So we don't tend to choose too high above our station in life. We choose a mate based on being equals. We plan to grow with them at a certain calculated rate as we make our way though this life.

4). There are potential mate choices that we, at first, choose but realize quickly that the other person isn't quite what they seemed or we garner little respect for them due to getting to know them a little better.

5). The unicorn factor - no one is perfect. NO ONE.

So what's left? we want a mate that isn't crazy, somewhat attractive, someone not out of our reach, and someone who has a proven track record and that person may have flaws but noting we can't over look - because everything else outweighs those small flaws.

So basically his observations are fairly close to how we choose our mates.
BUT - as Lann says, him making this graph and presenting it the way he does is generally offensive. Offensive to either male or female outlooks because he misses something - something very crucial: People are unpredictable and independent thinkers. We make decisions that don't make sense to any one but ourselves. We are chaotic, we have emotion, love and passion. We see things that are below the surface and we all judge people differently.

Personally I found his observations crass and ill-informed but I don't think he even realizes it. It's a thought in his head that's gone unchallenged and seems like it's a huge joke for him.

18-minute mini-documentary follows the journey of Irina, a 23-year-old liberal, Jewish New Yorker who voted for Obama in 2008

Join me as I wreck my last artifact of support for the war criminal-in-chief!! *I figured out the fraud a while back, but recently found this shirt in my closet

The problem with this country is it doesn't read. It doesn't inform itself on the issues. I'd probably still be a major nigger hating racist if it wasn't for books. If you want the skinny on that go to my Facebook Notes and read my "Racism Speech" which really isn't a speech so much as it is part of my memoirs to my two boys.

I wasn't really into this Islam thing until I happened to read The Haj by Leon Uris and Because They Hate by Brigitte Gabrielle almost back to back. I'll submit the following to give you an idea of what happened.

“we may describe it, (jihad), as a surgeon's lancet and not a butcher's knife.” Mahmoud Mohammed Taha (I'm sure there are about 200 million dead people that would disagree with him. And this from the guy who's been called the Mahatma Ghandi of Islam.)

About two years ago I ordered some reading material, including Taha's "Second Message", and a “study” Koran to find out what this "Islam thing" was all about. When I was sixteen I was chanting nam yo ho renge kyo to a piece of paper, (gahonzen?), having NO idea what I was doing. A few years later, hair down to my ass and a knapsack on my back, I hitchhiked cross country, got saved in Nashville Tenn. and went to live on a Christian farm in Mansfield Ohio. (Not the prison.) My gra'mom called me a "seeker". As I said, there came a time when I wanted to understand this "religion of peace". It was Humaid's article on jihad I found in my Summarized Bukhari that decided “things” for me.

If Islam is the “religion of peace”, where in Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid's article on jihad can I find the equivalent of “Love Thy Neighbor” and “good will toward men”? And explain its prominence, and significance almost as an “Introduction”, in a book that's described as “the most authentic and true among the books of the Prophet”: My Summarized Sahih Al-Bukhari. Also address “jihad” as it's defined in Reliance of the Traveller and answer the same question. (Chapter O-9.0: Jihad O: “Jihad means to war against non-Muslims, and is etymologically derived from the word mujahada signifying warfare to establish the religion.” And explain why the “greater” jihad is only mentioned once here and never seen again in this “Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law”.)

Compare Humaid's “jihad” and Emmet Fox' Sermon on the Mount and tell me which one best represents a spirit of Love and “compassion”.

Lastly; would you pick Sheikh bin Humaid to sit on a Human Rights Commission? (That's a trick question by the way.)

Maybe you can throw in an explanation of the Jews are “monkeys, pigs and rats” on page 656 and the part where Mo says, “if somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him” on page 613 in the chapter on Jihad.

Also, explain why Humaid's “jihad” shouldn't be “Exhibit A” in refuting the “religion of peace” claim.

I've posted this many times to many Muslims and have yet to get a single response. Well, I did receive a response from some goofball named “Dr.” Mohsen El-Guindy asking me to read his books. Instead I downloaded a bunch of his articles. Which were pure rants. An Imam, sidestepped it by telling me I had to “study Islam” to gain a greater understanding.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Prison (HBO)

Another great piece by John Oliver.

@Jerykk It would be good if your comments were sarcastic, unfortunately your passion shows they are not. Many of your points comprise of disturbingly inconsiderate, unsustainable and uneducated core values.

Pay attention to @Januari previous post. All the areas seeking clarification on what you advocate, these are most of the areas you should review and consider alternatives with someone who is rational, compassionate, realistic and a critical thinker. Your suggested solutions are horrific.

RSA Animate: Smile or Die - the hazards of positive thinking

deedub81 says...

This is so misleading. It makes me sad. Of course "The Answer" is hogwash, but to say that "Positive Thinking" and the so called "Law of Attraction" are the same thing is a lie.

The Answer, by John Assaraf and The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne (whom Ehrenreich references) are not representations of what most people consider positive thinking, nor does it have much to do with the idiocy of firing those that warned about the dangers of out-of-control sub-prime mortgage loans.

In other words, this video confuses many separate philosophies and psychological principles, some of which are real, and some of which are false.

There have been numerous studies on positive thinking, meditation, and mental practice that point to positive gains in actual performance. Retorhic and references to George W Bush, don't make this video accurate, though they do garner applause, as evidenced by the number of votes and promotes this video has earned.

Research points to the following benefits of positive thinking:
Increased life span
Lower rates of depression
Lower levels of distress
Greater resistance to the common cold
Better psychological and physical well-being
Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress

Positive thinking SHOULD NOT be confused with blinding yourself to realities and dangerous actions, as in the George Bush example given, nor should it be confused with "The Law of Attraction," as in the numerous references she gives to people getting things simply by thinking them.

Positive Thinking is a very powerful force that can lift one into a self reliant and full life. Positive thinkers impact the world with invention, ingenuity, and an uplifting influence on their community.

Questions for Statists

chingalera says...

Oh.
My.
GURD.

First of all, Mr. and Mrs. VooDooV, please, do this little experiment for the entire group and speak aloud the way you responded to my last block of text...
INTO A MIRROR-

The same Gastroesophageal reflex is encountered when proposing an argument to someone who refuses to engage in argument:

How many times have you heard the following statement by someone so eloquently clueless about what it is that's being discussed? "Well if you don't like it here, then why don't you move to Russia!?!

Or with a born-again Christian, OR rabid Atheist when their storehouse of personal illusion is dashed against the rock-hard crags when they wander too near an unfamiliar shoreline? Sounds something like this:

"Well, I believe I the way I do because with your way of thinking, you could go to hell but I can be sure this way that I am going to heaven!" -(quickly followed by ego-driven denial, then ostracization)

I refuse to engage quite simply, because you have like I have so many times before in my frustration with idiots and imbeciles, punks and thugs (and government insects employed by the state), showed the world your ass-card.

I'll admit everything I've been accused of when in the initial heat and frustration of being misunderstood I go off half-coked and wax mean-But here, and recently as I've conducted the experiment with vehement far-left liberal shit-thinkers, those who accuse e of foul-play remain solid in their own denial THAT THEIR SHIT STINKS!

Get it? All shit stinks mate, that the shitter doesn't realize it is not the concern of another shitter.

Obama scolds O'Reilly. Good for him.

newtboy says...

Yes...because if we don't agree with the angry anti-Obama right wing BS we MUST by definition be brain dead leftists wishing we had an American Che' to take us into socialism.
I am so sick of that insanity, born from 'if you're not with us you're against us' mentality fostered by the right and clearly stated repeatedly by their leaders. Because many free thinkers see the right spouting BS and vitriol constantly and call it out does not make them leftists as you would like to claim.
That's a simple minded ploy to allow one to ignore any descent from a narrow minded argument that can't stand up to real scrutiny. At least, that's how it looks from here.

A10anis says...

Saying that; "All religions are based on ignorance, fear and control," is NOT a "blanket statement," nor is it a "broad generalisation." It is, simply, a fact. You say that; "religion should be criticized, debated and discussed and
the underlying philosophies should be examined for their veracity." Well, myriad great thinkers who have done just that. Their conclusion? There may, indeed, be a superior force. But the "gods" portrayed in literature, of any faith, are clearly man made. In fact, the gods of man can be seen as nothing more than divine dictators, cruel and vengeful.
I would never call followers of religion dumb. I would, however, say that they are intellectually lazy in accepting their brainwashing without question. If, of course, they enjoy being slaves then they are free to be so. As long as their bronze age cults are kept to themselves, and out of schools and politics.

enoch said:

@A10anis
that was probably the most smug and condescending comment i have seen in awhile.

it has the appearance at first glance of being a thoughtful criticism of religion but in reality is just a childish swipe at people of a religious flavor.

intelligent people tend to avoid blanket statements and broad generalizations.

religion should be criticized, debated and discussed.
the underlying philosophies should be examined for their veracity and their ability for practical applications in a modern world.

but your commentary does none of the above.
you just used this video thread as an opportunity to call religious folk dumb.
well..dumber than you.

and you did it without ever watching the video.
yeah..thats classy.

Cops using unexpected level of force to arrest girl

chingalera says...

@ messenger-The solution lies in a combination of radical reform of policy, and that can only happen if people stop following the programming of the people who pay for elections firstly. Then, you educate the hell out of people at a grass-roots level of just how deep the rabbit hole goes i.e., the insidious cabal of those who would profit from incarcerating more and more people to prop-up their money-making scam of larger and stronger law enforcement infrastructure, the inhumane prison industry which is billions of dollars annually. Profiteers who breed future criminals in prisons, and ghettos. It takes people actually giving a fuck about their society instead of thinking that they are safe ans secure with more police.

YOU ARE NOT

Police are made-up of dangerous, self-loathing and damaged individuals who are recruited for the sole purpose of building the infrastructure I described with protecting and serving very, very low on their not-so-hidden agenda.

The power-keepers and their fanatical putsch should be glaringly obvious to anyone with a TV, the internet, and an I.Q. above 100.

"They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."-Benjamin Franklin, Poor Richard's Almanac.

Heed the words of a brilliant statesman and thinker, and of similar, modern contemporaries.

I don't have much hope for it, I have expatriation written all over my forehead in big red letters. Hardly a place to go anymore, the entire world is jumping on board to the 'occupy everything with police and military' route.

Cops are criminals, plain and simple. Continue to believe to the contrary and watch how fast the shit gets non-linear.

Russell Brand's Spiritual and Political Awakening

A10anis says...

His tenet is an old one. And, like so many pseudo intellectual thinkers, his "solutions" are wishy washy, glib, and infantile. He offers no practical answers to serious questions. In fact, he appears to be as clueless as the politicians he derides. Oh, and he said all he had to say in the first two minutes, making the remainder of the video somewhat surplus to requirement. Right, I'm off to meditate, which will put me on a level where I can say; "F*ck work, bills, responsibility and commitments........"

George Carlin "I Gave Up On My Species"

kevingrr says...

@enoch

There is little doubt that Child Labor, Labor Explotation, and Forced Labor continue to be of a major concern with Africa and Asia/India being particularly problematic. That said, concerted efforts are being made to reduce these numbers and they are improving, but slower than anyone would like. Unfortunately the problem is largely cyclical - even educated youth have trouble finding productive work, so they are forced into unskilled labor, and there is little economic growth.

Again, there is no magic wand that any one organization or person can waive to resolve these issues. The ILO has been trying for almost 100 years...

I would not characterize every person who is lucky or privileged enough that they do not live in those conditions to be terrible people.

Consumerism?
Nor would I characterize people's value as simply being good consumers. The people I know in my life all make contributions to the welfare of those around them and are rewarded for those contributions.

e.g. My best friend, a p.h.d. doing research regarding immunology I can't begin to understand. My fiance, finishing her ER residency at the county hospital. My brother, working as a kayaking guide.

Circling the Drain
Is America really circling the drain? I doubt it. Has it done terrible things? We all know it has.

When I look around I see a lot of problems here. We do have a huge wealth gap. We do have ghettos and crime. We have all sorts of selfcentered ego driven loons.

Yet we also have an enormous pool of talented and intelligent people working on all kinds of things. Some of which are mundane and some of which are really amazing - and many of which are sifted about on this website all the time.

Carlin
I saw Carlin live twice before he died. I own several of his books. I think he is a brilliant comedian and insightful thinker. My point is and was - he saw it as his job to remind us "HEY - look over here. See this shit? This is FUCKED." And he was right.

MSNBC PSA - All Your Kids Are Belong to Us

enoch says...

@VoodooV
dont be too harsh on our boy @blankfist at least he has us talking about some pretty important issues.

if we do not discuss the hard issues and deal with truths and only hold onto our own biased ideology, then nothing gets accomplished.

i do not subscribe to blankies capitalistic unrestricted free market position.
i have been learning much about the free market and it does have some substantial strengths in many regards.

the problems arise,in my opinion,in regards to societal responsibility.
unrestricted capitalism makes everything a commodity.
and some things should NEVER be considered a commodity.

so i am against the privatization of schools and commodifying children.
and for those of you who wish to berate me for my position allow me to point to our current prison system:prisoners=commodity

now by me saying this does NOT automatically mean i am in support of our current education system.
i am not.

the system we have now is a bloated and stagnating beast which does little to educate and everything to indocrinate and create obedient workers.

and who is blamed for all this?
the teachers!
of course!
bind their hands, gag their mouths, stifle their creativity and crush their imagination.

and THEN turn around and say "there...theres your problem.the teachers".

so @ blankfist is not entirely off the mark when he infers or implies that it is government that is at fault.

because they are.

the real question is why?
now i am wading into postulation waters here but this is what i suspect.
1.the american government nor corporations wish to have a truly educated and informed citizenry with critical thinking skills and the ability to consume data and form rational conclusions.
people with those abilities will always challenge power.

they would rather have a docile and submissive public that does not question authority.
best get em while they are young.

so it doesnt matter if the schools are privatized or publicly funded.
they BOTH seek the same results and will BOTH be/are equally corrupt.

and most likely BOTH will blame the teachers for a perceived failure.

because BOTH will ignore, either knowingly or unknowingly, the systematic failure of HOW they teach children.

no longer is art taught.
nor civics (at least not where i live),
nor the humanities.
they are teaching these kids to be systems managers, not free-thinkers.

i believe that education all the way up and through to higher education should be a public responsibility.the investment will pay dividends greater than anything put IN to the system.
i am not going to list them all, just think about what a well educated citizen can bring to table.
see:finland

because at its heart, its essence,is not society a collective practice in community?
there are some things that should never be socialized.
education is not one of them.

money is not the problem.
teachers are not the problem.
its the SYSTEM and how it teaches, that is the problem.

remove the politicians and the special interest from the equation and allow the actual educators to do their jobs.

instead we have turned teachers into baby-sitters and schools into factories of the banal.

what a disgrace.

marx was right-capitalism vs socialism

radx says...

I haven't had time to watch this just yet, but there's something in the description worth commenting:

But no serious economist or political thinker -- with the possible exception of Gordon Brown -- has ever suggested capitalism can break free of booms and busts.

With Germany's elections coming up in three weeks, I'd like to point out the fifth party of our current parliament, Die Linke (The Left), who argue for a modified form of capitalism, focused on the benefit of the population, not the corporations.

Naturally, they are a pariah amongst market-friendly proponents of corporatism, but they still keep all the other parties in check... to some degree.

The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America

chingalera says...

The "conspiracy" portion of our show has been brought to you by the framers of the system. The perpetrators either lauded with appointments or hidden, blameless to a large degree due in large part to the somnambulant and intellectually-challenged who are incapable or otherwise unwilling to see beyond the smoke and mirrors of a lifetime of delusional shit-think.

For me it's simple: I see firsthand the casualties of a pathetic education machine in recent university graduates but more-so the idiots pouring-out high-schools in the U.S. like bilge water. The US produces not critical thinkers or civilized humans, but an increasingly larger number of robots who regurgitate shit they've been told or heard (incorrectly) like trivial pursuit card quips and who are best-suited for the "real" world of wage slavery and compliance with authority when they "graduate."

Education/Indoctrination for the masses and rabble provided by the state, for the good of the machine...which is terminally broken.
