Japanese Whaling Ship Shears Bow off High Speed Anti-Whaler

They forgot the school house rules; It doesn't matter how loud your siren is but who's boat is made from carbon fiber and who's from metal!

I think the sound cannons were coming from the whales, as well as the water cannons.

The Japanese ship Shonan Maru, was providing security to Japan's whaling fleet. They go to great lengths to create distractions using aggressive diversions to keep the activists from the "Sea Shepherd & affiliated Ships" busy - Then they send out five or six whalers to suck up every whale within miles - It's like "Clear-cutting" the ocean for it's resources. I'm not an activist but the Japanese have eliminated all of the whales and large fish in their own waters and now spend their time encroaching and often poaching in foreign waters.

OK, how about I downvote your post based purely on your immature name-calling in that very sentence?

Congressman Weiner: "You Don't Know What Socialism Means!"

gtjwkq says...

I never said statistics don't matter, social liberals have to realize that there is such a thing as "statistical sleight of hand", you shouldn't immediately trust numbers coming from the mouth of a politician or the bureaucrats he's quoting. The low Medicare overhead myth is a clear example of that:

- The overhead percentage is the administrative cost compared to total costs, so a lower overhead doesn't mean less costs, it means less compared to the total costs. When Medicare's costs are out of control, overhead will shrink making Medicare look good to anyone dumb enough to only look at that particular statistic and conjure the image of Medicare as a model of efficiency.

- Medicare serves the elderly, they have higher expenditures because they need greater levels of medical care, thus making overhead costs smaller compared to greater total costs in percentage terms.

- Medicare has very high levels of fraud and abuse, something like $70 billion every year! They don't waste any money trying to stop it, because they don't care if needless procedures are being done or if people are stealing money, it's not their money! Private insurers, on the other hand, actively waste money to fight fraud and abuse, which adds to the overhead and reduces total costs, increasing the overhead percentage in relation to these smaller costs!

- Private insurers pay state health insurance premium taxes and all sorts of business taxes, Medicare doesn't.

P.S.: I'd like to ask all social liberals with downvoting power not to downvote this post purely based on the fact that I'm not sucking up to congressman Small Weiner.

P.P.S.: Peroxide, please spare me your misdirected hatred of Bill O'Reilly, I couldn't care less what the hell he said about Amsterdam, reply when you have something pertinent to say.

^There definitely was a happy-clapper religious fervor about it all. "Cult of Mac" is not just a saying. It's hard not to get swept up in the artificial excitement. To rebel against all this, I've jailbroken my iPhone today. Stand back, I'm bad.

Orson Welles on Citizen Kane and Rosebud

This is the kind of interview I like. He's asking questions, very directly, and not sitting there sucking up to him. These kinds of interviews I'd like to see done in todays media but theey're all puff pieces, polite bullshit back and forth it's pathetic. Imagine if the public saw just a few interviews that were direct of say the idiots from reality tv shows, we'd laugh at how stupid and vacuous they are or praise how quick witted or genuine they happen to be.

This is why I liked David Letterman before they told him to tone it down a bit. Some celebrities wouldn't go back to his show because he was ask them direct questions and he was very good about it. He's still better than most anyone (even Jon Stewart at times) so I still watch him, however I'd like it to be more like this interview here.

Obama won the Nobel Peace prize? (Wtf Talk Post)

What do you think of this Norwegian's take on it?

I saw that comment on reddit earlier today, and I don't agree. It's too simple to blame the decision on a mere political suck-up. The Norwegian Nobel Committee is completely detached from the Norwegian government, so if our government actually had a conspiracy going to get Obama to Norway, there would have been easier avenues than the Nobel Committee. I find the insinuation that the Committee is merely a bunch of fawning bobbleheads to be rather ignorant, and a big insult to the work they have put down over the course of half a year.

Angry Guy on Hell's Kitchen Wants to Fight Gordon Ramsay

I can't handle this show. We're supposed to believe these incompetent meatheads are worthy of competing to run one of Ramsey's restaurants? I'll stick to Top Chef.

It's probably all scripted, but honestly Ramsay was acting like a jackass pure and simple while the rest of the crew were blatantly sucking up to him.

How To Get Back Overdraft Fees From Your Bank

solution666 says...

>> ^solution666:
I'm currently trying this method.. i had only overdrawn 12.52 because of bank fees in a bank account I never used, and was notified months later that the US Bank fees had grown to an astonishing $370.00. They wanted to settle the matter for $100, so I sucked up my pride and walked in with a $100 bill.. but for some reason they couldn't pull up the account.
I made a complaint to the bank, no call was returned. I made a second attempt to pay it a couple weeks later, but they had sold the account after adding another $370 in fees.. how nice.
Now, I'm contacted by a collection agency wanting $1012.00., so I immediately made a small claims suit to US Bank to resolve the issue.
No response yet...

SUCCESS!!!
The Bank took their sweet-ass time, but called me back wanting to withdraw the collection agency, remove the history from the credit bureaus, and settle for the minimal amount again. So.. THIS METHOD DOES WORK. THANK YOU!
BTW.. IT DOESN'T JUST COST 25 BUCKS OR WHATEVER TO FILE THESE SMALL CLAIMS SUITS. IT COST ME $55 TO FILE IT AT COURT, PLUS $40 TO HAVE THE PAPERS DELIVERED.

Dresdner Kreuzchor performs Wie liegt die Stadt so wüst

rougy says...

My grandmother described the horrific firestorm that raged like a hurricane and consumed the city. It seemed as if the very air was on fire. Thousands were killed by bomb blasts, but enormous, untold numbers were incinerated by the firestorm, an artificial tornado with winds of more than 100 miles an hour that “sucked up its victims and debris into its vortex and consumed oxygen with temperatures of 1,000 degrees centigrade.”

I read that some of the bombers had to veer away and drop their bombs off target because the heat was too great for the men to stand.
