I'm with him all the way, except that once someone has cut my hair, some sort of Stockholm Syndrome takes effect and unless they completely f*ck it up, I'll go back to them every time until they leave town or die. What I don't understand is people who love to get their hair cut. But then again, some people love to shop, so there you go.

Britain and Australia are both leftward leaning democratic socialist nations.

We both have healthy diversity in race/creed/colour.

You put a significant number of blacks and whites together, and the two sides are going to move to polar opposites on the political spectrum.

Which is inherent because people still see in colour rather than just another fellow human being.

And I'm not saying that it's perfect in the UK or Aus, we have our racial tensions as well, just noting that a melted pot is not an excuse not to socialism... =)

The Richard Curtiss quote is revealing - "Anyone who spends any amount of time in the Middle East begins to see the other side of it." Sounds like Mr Curtiss is suffering from a case of diplomatic Stockholm Syndrome.

No sympathy here - yes, they are oppressed Stockholm syndrome victims themselves, but they are perpetuating a hideous abuse cycle.
