Zero Punctuation: Fear 2

Wjolson, in relation to my previous comment, you can't expect Yahtzee to enjoy MGS4 as much as you perhaps did. It's easy to see why he enjoyed Saints Row 2 over MGS4, and that's because he plays video games for the fun aspect. We know this about Yahtzee already, so I wouldn't be so shocked that he doesn't accept a video game that's designed as if it were a movie with brief interaction. Not that there's anything wrong with a game like that, it's just not the preference of a lot of gamers.

And Hive13, it's funny Saints Row 2 got mentioned because I just rented it last week and beat the campaign last night, so it's good to have this game fresh in my head when speaking about it. But I honestly disagree with people saying it's better than GTA4, even from a fun aspect. It -would- be better if they fixed a few things.
For example, I absolutely love how customizable everything is, like cars, for example. However, what takes away the fun of the customization is that it's hard driving anywhere without running into an invisible bump in rough texture that crashes into your car. GTA4 had this too, but not as painfully often as Saints Row 2. It happens all the bloody time, and really took away some of the fun of the game.
As far as the missions go, while they were trying to be somewhat innovative with the missions, most of them consisted of purely run-and-gun, as you mow down TONS of gangsters while running through uninteresting buildings that all sorta looked the same. It got ridiculously repetitive after a while. GTA4 had a lot more variations with their missions, and when it was run-and-gun, they were usually placed in interesting terrain that made things feel a bit different.
All in all, I felt Saints Row 2 was good, but incomparable to GTA4, because they took it a much different direction. While Rock* stream-lined the game, and polished the hell out of it, Saint's Row 2 took a different route. Instead of polishing what already proved to work, they added tons and tons more content on top of what was already there, and left it buggy, yet still fun. More than anything, I think it's fair to compare SR2 to San Andreas over GTA4, since the two games are pretty much the exact same thing.

Sorry about that.

Wii Fit Parody

Psychologic says...

The "exercise" part of Wii Fit is kinda dumb.

However, I have to admit that I really like how sensitive it is in measuring your center of balance. That "roll the ball in the hole" game is harder than it looks, and I found it fun. It isn't Counter-Strike, but it's still fun.

Zero Punctuation: Guitar Hero World Tour

thinker247 says...

Finally a game I can comment about.

I've played the guitar, and I also think the slider bar is useless. And I'm also annoyed that the playlist is weak, except for the three tracks from TOOL. I don't really like the 80s that much.

My main instrument is the drum set, and yes, the cymbal and hi-hat are ridiculously bad. After about five minutes of playing they stop picking up all the hits, which is absolutely detrimental to songs like "Everlong" by the Foo Fighters. Most of that song is the hi-hat, and catching every other note makes you fail hardcore.

But it's still fun while it lasts. I like Rock Band better, unless there's a real drum set somewhere. Then I ignore the video games and rock out for real. \m/

What motivates you to submit a video to VideoSift? (Sift Talk Post)

kulpims says...

1. I like to think I make the internets a better place by submiting quality videos (because everyone needs an excuse for wasting all that time on one site)
2. sometimes I do fall for that "who'll submit this digg-ed video first" frenzy. it's that feeling you get when you beat Zifnab to the ZPR embed... not that I ever did, but it's the best example of what I'm trying to say. especially in the beginning when climbing the vs hierarchy was still fun (cause with each step you got new *toys, of course). but often it's not even intentional. I just happen to spend a lot of time browsing different video aggregators but I never post videos only because they're popular and I know they might get a lot of votes.
3. I post videos on topics I feel are not represented enough on the sift and/or stuff I like but nobody else seems to appreciate.
4. yes, I do. my themes are:
- flying (also an almost childish fascination with jet fighters)
- jazz musicians I really like
- good slovenian music
- other stuff that originates from my local background, geographicaly or otherwise; anything from music, cinema, arts to interesting sights... also a lot of Slavoj Žižek
5. not intentionaly. but then, maybe my videos do describe me better than my balkan english ever could (I feel awkward using english, that's why I usualy keep my comments short:)

Man detained: speeding because his dog is dieing (Pets Talk Post)

Arsenault185 says...

I think the officer handled everything very professionally. If the owner was that serious about his pet, perhaps he should have taken his negligent ass down to the red cross (they usually do it) and learned how to preform CPR / doggie Heimlich so that he could have saved his dogs life without putting people t risk. I'll tell you what works (on smaller dogs)- wrap your mouth around your dogs nose and blow. you'll force air into his lungs, and back up through his mouth. With any luck, the foreign object will come popping out. Even if your dog isn't choking, its still fun to do. Yeah, this guy was a moron. I have 2 dogs (well I have one my wife has another) and I care very much for them. Would I drive like a douche bag to save them? No. Would I do everything I could possibly do to get them to an emergency vet if I couldn't handle it? yes. That means speeding, but not criminal speeding. the 8-10 rule would hae been fine, because like payback pointed out, speeding doesn't actually save you a whole lot of time.

Aaaaah, so wonderfully cruel. Favourite human past time. Take two wierd critters, plop them down infront of each other and chuckle at the hilarity of thier amusing first encounter.

This is the type of thing that make me convinced that all those wierd UFO reports of people being wisked away, subjected to wierdness and then plopped back down never to be believed are absolutly true.

Think about it, if humans could visit other worlds, that's EXACTLY what we would do. Except we'd also put it on youtube for the rest of our species to enjoy their shame.

We are wicked wicked beings. Still fun though.

Productive Nanosystems Animation

Much like the previous sift of bio-molecular processes there's a lot of artistic license, but it was still fun to watch. In actuality objects at the nano and micro scale are erratic, sticky, and generally uncontrollable.

having 2 cows pull ether side of you is more transferal of force the guy in the middle isent using strength so much its more a case of his body not snapping.

allot of the other stuff is all realy just about punishing the body as to make it more resistant i think its a grate shame that thay and others might think its annything other than very basic science. if you want to be strong then investigate the environment using science and bould a bomb.

still fun to watch though and entertaining so long as its not presented as religoin/mistical then its all good art
