5 ways to know you are watching a Spielberg Movie
Modern Era being say, last thirty-forty years but not the last fifty to seventy though. He's as fantastic a composer for the formulaic music he creates-I agree he ranks among the greats of cinematic composition but his claim to fame being so ingrained in pop culture with Star Wars for me means he kinna squeaked-into the realm of 20th century American composers like Copeland. Bernstein, or Gershwin. I dunno, he's more like a Howard Shore or Hans Zimmer for me, not quite reaching the all-star team of 20th century long-haired first-stringers.
Maybe I'm simply prejudiced against the all-consuming cheese-fog of Star Wars, Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, etc. Maybe I'll try the experiment of listening to one of his compositions without the backdrop of a film. No wait, see I did that-In 77' I bought the double LP of the Star Wars soundtrack (yahhh, I was frikkin' 12) and got bored with it-Never get bored listening to Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite or Ravel's Bolero, though!
John Williams is a fantastic composer.
Some people might call this heresy, but personally I think he should be ranked up there with Beethoven and Tchaikovsky for grandiose orchestral music.
He's certainly the greatest composer of the modern era.
Ancient posts from blankfist covering pages 1 - 5ish!? (Sift Talk Post)
Well charliem, it looks as if someone has adopted a stray and is smothering him with kisses and farts instead of the customary ticker-tape parade-Please keep hands and feet away from propeller at all times and stand to the center of the contraption as it gibbers and squeaks
Skyscrapers in Tokyo swaying in Earthquake - 2011
Yeah, I think the squeaking of the building would make the swaying several times worse. The squeak turns a sway that is probably scary enough into "OMFG I'm going to die in a pile of rubble."
You can hear that shit squeaking. I'd think I'd request a sanitation job after experiencing something like that.

Weird little rain frog
This thing sounds like a balloon, when you pinch the valve and stretch, to let the air out in a squeak.
Come to think of it, the shape is right, too.
Weird little rain frog
Sure as I'm sittin' here, some dog is gonna come along and mistake that little cutie for a squeak toy!
Senate Subcommittee Propaganda Campaign 101
Kind of tired of this bullshit, people putting words in mouths, behind their own ass...
Didn't call Gifford's a retard, sir. I used the same method as the televised segment, the formula of the media's, bombardment-of-reason campaign for the mind, this same usage of words twisted that you are using now in order to misrepresent me.
Referred to this abject insult to my sensibilities and intelligence called, a fucking senate subcommittee retarded, because they parade children and survivors like Giffords here in front of cameras to push agendas by pushing your emotional triggers.
Then, shall we break down the rest of your squeaking expectorate? Trigger words when reason won't break through the haze in your paradigm fired like bullets.."stupid" "NWO", back to your assumption of me having bullied the woman with derogatory, inflammatory insults-Next, close with a fucking insult, based on what?? Your own bullshit.
Break down your own trip, turn off the fucking television and read some Science Fiction. Sharpen your tool while yer at it?
It's so rude to call this poor woman retarded. Also, I don't believe that someone who believes in stupid things like the New World Order gets the right to call others retarded. You aren't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, chogs.
FedEx delivers, UPS steals?
...another one will squeak in and take its place!!! MAIL FRAUD!! THEFT!! HAAAAAALLLLP!
Election predictions? (Election Talk Post)
Yesterday I'd have pegged it as 303 Obama, 235 Romney (the map being the same as 2008, but Romney picks up IN, FL, and NC).
Based on the returns I'm seeing as of 10:15pm, I'd say 319 Obama, Romney 219, with the map being 2008, but Romney gets IN, NC, and VA...and Obama holds Florida.
Right now I'm ready to make $10,000 bets Obama will win. Romney would need to run the table to just squeak a win at this point.
Romney Asked 14 Times if he'd De-fund FEMA
IF Romney is elected? What happened to ROMNEY LANDSLIDE?
I think you may be a RINO in disguise.>> ^quantumushroom:
The question about FEMA is moot.
Little to nothing ever gets cut in these federal bureaucracies, any cuts are more like a single theatrical scratch. It doesn't matter which side is in charge.
The federal mafia grows every goddamned year whether it needs to or not. It's mandated.
We can argue all night about FEMA, which is just the Post Office with a life preserver, Band-Aid and bottle of water, it won't make a whit of difference.
Here's some other ways your tax dollars are being spent:
$2.6 Million Spent To Train Chinese Prostitutes To Drink Responsibly
$1,529,220 for an Appalachian Fruit Lab.
$742,764 for olive fruit fly research. ($211,509 of this amount was to be spent in Paris, France)
$172,782 for the National Wild Turkey Federation in Edgefield, S.C.
$1,128,000 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Alaska Eagle River for an at-risk youth mentoring program.
$50,000,000 for REAL ID grants. Got to be sure to track and trace those unruly American citizens!
$123,050 for a Mother's Day Shrine in Grafton, West Virginia (population 5,489, with a land area of 3.8 square miles)
Revolution is coming, now it's only a question of when...less than 10 years if Romney is elected, less than 4 if the other guy squeaks in.

Impressive Lightning Strike on Overhead Power Line
I wonder what that squeak sound before the rumble is caused by. Maybe nearby electronics dying before the shorckwave arrives?
What Can You Do If Someone's Vehicle Has Blocked Your Exit?
>> ^MilkmanDan:
If somebody double-parks you in like that, I think it is basically reasonable to give them a "nudge" if it will buy you enough room to get out. But as mentioned by @Payback, it looked like there was likely enough room to squeak through at the correct angle either without hitting either car, or certainly after a light push or two of the offending car.
Being pissed off makes us take things further than necessary, but I'd still say that is not much of an excuse for when he tried to do a sustained push and the rear end slid around into the innocent bystander car to the right.
I kinda miss the good old days, when cars had bigass bumpers and weren't afraid to use 'em. My first car was a 1979 Lincoln Continental. That thing had a huge bumper with thick rubber pads at the contact points, not to mention what seemed like a 20' long hood (that was 60% empty, not like modern cars where the machinery fills the entire hood). In that car, high mass + thick bumper = anything blocking your path wouldn't stay there for long.
Yeah, also meant that in a crash you died.
Seriously, crash in a new car compared to an old car and you are umpteen times more likely to walk away from the accident. I think more easily dinted bumpers is a small price to pay for being alive.
