As the video shows, the basic gender defining trait for this marketing is pink for girls and blue for boys, even though 60 years ago it was the opposite. I agree that most of us grew up in this era and so those defining marketable traits are believed simply because we grew up with that definition.

Another example is the idea of not being clean unless you us soap, shampoo, shaving cream, deodorant, etc. Many people (myself included) have stopped using such items and found that, after an adjustment period, there's really no difference. My hair is healthier and fuller since stopping using shampoo and my skin isn't as dry without soap. I shower with just water and the only time I stink is after a work out. Most people believe you'd become Pig Pen if you didn't use these items but that is simply because they grew up in an era where they've used them as long as they can remember and cannot imagine ever not using them.

There's certainly a cultural element, but I feel that if there simply wasn't this marketing divide just a few short generations ago, that culture alone plays a small role.

Walking Dead show is such a soap opera. It's not remotely as well done as the comics and yet being based on a comic there needs to be 40 minutes of filler per actual story with each episode, so they fill it will soap opera bullshit.

Anyone else officially done with zombie scenario series and films? WWZ sucked dangled goat balls, the Walking Dead series was a soap opera with chicken parts, and quite frankly, everyone you meet now in western cultures seem like the hollow-eyed stamblers depicted in these redux redux redux of Romero's take on the undead (no one since has really improved upon his depiction) The real zombies scare me more (neighbors, residents of cities of over 100K)....Ise fucking sick of zombies.

In fairness though, the monarchy doesn't have much power. Just like the US, the power is in the Congress/Parliament. The idea being that the stupid people will pay attention to the soap opera that is the president /monarchy while the real powers are relatively unhindered without public scrutiny. Of course in the age of TV and the Internet, this is circumvented somewhat. But still, in general people pay far more attention to the president than Congress even though Congress affects you far more than the president can
