Tesla BLOWS AWAY Expectations. (Q2 2022 Recap )

luxintenebris says...

please. communist?

think about this: one of the cons of communism is if one person is getting all the benefits of working as not working - incentive is nixed.

w/all the mergers of segments of the business world - oil, media suppliers, etc - the effect mirrors communism. w/o serious competition, these companies have less incentive to improve products, increase efficiency, or reduce consumer costs.

to wit: most of the conservative policies are closer to communism than ideas like trust-busting, fair employee compensation, reasonable taxation for high earners, etc.

most of the 'progressive' ideas would spur capitalism, thus the blue is more about the green than the red is about keeping markets stable and healthy.

prefer the idea of regulated capitalism over death through fascism.

what led to '08?

anyway...if you're money is on Tesla*, good luck. good to see a body putting their money where their mouth is. and great to see you in favor of moving away from fossil fuels. investing in the future.

if we can get there.

FYI: interesting article about the marketing of tesla

from the skinny on the CEO, it is an absolute match.

BTW: keeping up w/the Jan 6 spankings? hard to buy the love of a loon, versus the safety of a nation. shakes a person to the core. all those serene conservatives w/o one iota of spine. if this is your idea of quality leadership - no Tesla stock is gonna fill the void of losing a homeland

Biden economy and Communist fuckery is holding Tesla down , not Tesla. Hence it is a great buy.

How the Mario Characters Got Their Names | Gaming Historian

newtboy says...

Ok, they can say that and maybe it’s true, but I just want to point out that in the amazing 1953 French film, The Wages of Fear, the main characters are Mario and Luigi, and Luigi looks just like super Mario down to the hat (the Mario character is played by Yves Montand, a skinny French actor). I’ve always found that to be far too coincidental.

How This Cyclist Hit 184MPH and Set the World Record

newtboy says...

Perhaps you misunderstand me. I don't accuse her of taking anything from professionals, as I don't think they're competing. I only think, when making a claim of record bicycle speeds, if those speeds are not achieved without assistance it should be clearly noted. They didn't hide it, but the title slightly mislead me and left me disappointed it wasn't a human powered speed, because that speed would have more than doubled the previous record and that would be amazing.

This is a feat of skill and bravery. It simply is not a feat of purely human powered speed. Nothing wrong with that, as long as it's clear, imo.

Nice trip. 2500 miles is a good chunk of the distance coast to coast (depending on the route). Where did you ride to/from?
I've never done a long distance ride like that, I just rode to school and back daily...over 35 miles round trip...and around town. Up here in Humboldt, the roads are terrible so I don't ride much anymore, skinny racing tires don't do well in potholes. I'm getting too old and broken for serious mountain bike trail riding, which is sad considering the trails I have available.

I'm intrigued by the sand swap idea, but also concerned about the introduction of invasive species that may be living in that sand. Just a thought if you make the trip.

Again, SHE'S NOT A PRO! She doesn't take anything away from the pros but also gives them a chance to break her record. (If they got the guts)

Unrelated, this is me back in 2011 making a 2,500 mile bike trip which I did in 3 months. It was something I did to see if I actually wanted to bike across country. From Cape Canaveral beach to Vandenberg Air Force Base. I would carry a sample of sand from the east and then dump it on the beach in the west.

Due to circumstances beyond my control I still haven't been able to make that trip. But I loved every minute of the trip I did.

Four producers remix the same jazz piano sample

Sagemind says...

...and by no means am I saying I hate electronic music - because I do like it. Dam, Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Skinny Puppy...

Anyway, I just hate when mainstream decides it's better to give us over-produced tripe, rather than let the artist and their instruments speak for themselves.

It's a two-edged sword...

sorry sage, your points are valid, but until people get off expecting music for free.we will have to wade through an ocean of remixing.

Nailed it

Well, I guess we can flip it around then and see if it's still funny.

Imagine the same situation with a skinny young adult woman sitting there with her legs spread open. Nervously laughing and obviously doesn't want to be violated by the screwlike device. But she stays there because this is her job and allows the activity to complete until it is too painful and she jumps up and runs away while everyone is laughing.

Hmm.. not funny, even if they are being paid for it. Financial coercion to do these types of degrading acts isn't right but it's probably legal. So I guess you can legally laugh.

While there is certainly a pretty awful trend of laughing at male rape, particularly in prison scenarios ("don't drop the soap" etc), this isn't really it.

The "victim" here is presumably there by his own choice.

The micro text to McCain's down vote of the ACA repeal

Mikus_Aurelius says...

They needed a yes vote from McCain, and abstention wouldn't work.

A large number of Republican senators knew very well that skinny repeal was the worst of both worlds. Likely a deadlocked conference committee would have lead to Ryan jamming it through the house as written, at which point insurance premiums would rise meteorically with the withdrawal of the individual mandate.

McCain probably believes he's saving his party from a political disaster as well as a bad policy, and he isn't the only one. At least ten senators expressed serious reservations about the possibility I outlined above.

One commentator I heard on the radio said, "It was always going to be 49-51, the only question is who would be the 51st no vote." McCain took one for the team.

newtboy said:

Anybody else think the Republicans are going to fight this, claiming his brain cancer makes him ineligible to vote, so his vote doesn't count?
I'm certain some of them will make that claim publicly, I just wonder if they'll claim it on the Senate floor.
