Woman Viciously Assaults Police Officer

Shepppard says...

@coolhund

You're damn right i'll judge them objectively. They do a lot of things I don't agree with, however, the way they handle their jobs is not one of them.

Lets go to another cop then, a Super-intendant. I was just downtown at the "Show n' Shine", essentially a giant out-door old car show that takes place on king street (basically, our downtown strip).

There was a super-intendent there, can't remember his name, standing outside a TCBY, talking to people as the walked by, answering questions, being silly.

This man, is a super-intendant. That means, he's roughly 2 ranks down from chief of police, that's a lot of power. He was not abusing his power, he was actually communicating with the public, there were close to, my guess is 15-20,000 people all crammed along this one street. Not one incident of police brutality.. even though there was a motorcycle patrolling around the perimeter, and pairs of cops walking up and down along the street/sidewalk.

How bout the other 20+ people that volunteered for the "Caught in the Act" shows? After the show, the cast would line up (in full dress) in the lobby and shake hands with people that were leaving the theater. One of the cops noticed a little girl who was hungry, but the concession stand was closed. So he went into the dressing room in the back, came back out and gave her his donut (cliché that he had a donut, I know, but it's true.)

Power doesn't corrupt those that have a high enough moral standing to remain uncorrupted. The only time power corrupts is when you let it, and a lot of people don't let it.

Obama Bows to Japanese Emperor Akihito

JAPR says...

I upvote because Obama did the correct thing, in my opinion. I'm an East Asian Studies major, I bow and shake hands when I meet people in Japan. It's called being polite. This is exactly Obama's style, being less formal and openly friendly.

Bush Wipes Hand on Clinton's Shirt After Greeting Haitians

dannym3141 says...

>> ^alizarin:

If you see the full version you see this edit is disingenuous bs.
Bush wanted to move along and he tapped Clinton on the shoulder followed by that gesture. Clinton is known to hang around and shake hands allot, Bush is known for wanting to stick with the schedule so they say.
There's so many things that make Bush a terrible man, why trash him when he actually does something good like help raise funds for Haiti?

That's so much nonsense. It's CLEARLY a wipe in the full version too. There's hardly any difference.

Not that i care beyond wanting the truth to be stated.

I watched the unedited one, its no quite as obvious, but still pretty obvious to me. After shaking hands he kind of does the ew I got something gross on my hand thing, then proceeds to wipe it on Clinton. I have no doubt he tried to conceal the maneuver as signal to move on. Anyone who's had an asshole for a friend knows to be suspect when they pat you on the back as they've probably just picked their nose and need a place to dislodge to booger from their finger.

IT'S ON, BROTHERS AND SISTERS. KULPIMS GETS WHAT'S COMING! (Parody Talk Post)

thinker247 says...

Is this the roast? It's more like a vegetarian barbecue, complete with soy hot dogs. Or as blankfist calls them, "edible sex toys." That's not mayo, folks.

Sigh. This is lamer than Michael J. Fox shaking hands with Muhammad Ali while Stephen Hawking does the fox trot.

Hello, is this thing on?

These roasts are becoming so tired, I feel like I'm watching a Ben Stein documentary during a gas leak. Someone light a match and end this suffering.

I guess I should say something about Kulpims, since it's his party, right? Sure.

Kulpims is a foreigner, and I distrust all foreigners. I also distrust Foreigner, because they sing "I Want to Know What Love Is." Which is a song about Ike Turner, I believe. I can't remember. I'm baked off my ass right now. What was I talking about? Oh yeah, fuck Foreigner. and Fuck foreigners. But not Kulpims, because he probably has AIDS or gonorrhea or scurvy, like a pirate. Speaking of pirates, have you seen that one movie where the guy is all like, AAARGH! That shit was hella awesome. But anyway, Kulpims is...uh...Eritrean, right? Or is he Scandinavian? I forget. He's one of those white dudes who rides his bicycle in circles and shoots documentaries about evolution. Or was that Bob Crane? Yeah, that's it. Kulpims is the guy who shoots bondage film and whacks off while hitting himself with a flagellation stick. What was I talking about? Oh yeah:

Fuck Foreigner.

Anybody got any French Onion Dip?

Would you kiss me, if I had HIV?

finch451 says...

Here's my conflict, and forgive me if this sounds completely ignorant.

When I was in school, a presenter came into my health class acting all cocky and asked us how we could get HIV, going down a list. Sex? We all said yes. Sharing needles? Obviously, yes. High fiving? We scoffed and said no. Kissing? A good portion of the class said 'no' and he threw on his best 'GOTCHA!' face and asked us this simple question: "How many of you have ever had a canker sore or brushed your teeth and had your gums bleed a little?"

Nearly all of us agreed that we'd all had this, and it was possible to swap blood with a French kiss. In my mind, I'm totally accepting of people with HIV and AIDs. One of the regulars at my house has HIV and it's never presented a problem. We shake hands, share food and bathroom, etc. Him having HIV has never prevented us from having normal interaction with him, because it shouldn't.

I just wish people could give me a definitive answer on this before calling it 'stigma' and not 'caution'. The reason I don't kiss people with HIV or AIDs isn't because I'm afraid, it's because I'm uneducated (and the first one to admit it) and not dumb enough to make those decisions without safe research.

Someone please educate me.

Obama Bows to Japanese Emperor Akihito

Kreegath says...

Downvote for misrepresenting my royal house. I'm a staunch defender of our royalty, and this (perhaps unintentional) depiction of the king as being less-than-respectful couldn't be further from the truth.

Do you know how many time they meet and shake hands in front of the camera like that? Well I can tell you it's enough times to warrant an initial bow, followed only by subsequent handshakes. You can definately find a picture where the emperor and my king bow to eachother, garantueed! Also, some of these heads of state have spent everything from a few years to several decades in events together. As I understand it, bowing is oftentimes more of a formal greeting for people introducing themselves to each other. Is that wrong?

As we've so clearly seen in this slideshow, if your agenda is to paint someone up as being more humble than the rest and at the same time try to equate that trait as something negative, then there's more than enough of a selection of pictures to choose from.

David Beckham Almost in Halftime Fight With Fans

Yogi says...

Actually Beckham was trying to make amends to the angry fans. You can see him holding his hand out to shake the guys hand. I'm glad there was security there though, the guy didn't look like he wanted to shake hands.
