Batch o' Bouncing Baby Feisty Ferrets
Not to mention that they have scent glands like skunks (and all other weasels I think). They can be removed, but the smell never goes completely away.
I had a pair as a teenager. They are illegal in California, so I had to give them up when my family moved here from Texas. Not cool.
Their habits are similar to cats actually, they will tongue wash themselves like they do. The smell isn't a hygiene issue, that's just how ferrets smell, I had them for years and eventually I just got used to it. Most pets have some kind of smell to them, but since ferrets are less common than cats or dogs I suspect people have stronger reactions to them.
Domesticated Pet Skunk Playing With A Plastic Bag
Wild skunks that I've seen have a pretty similar waddle-gait. I think a lot of the apparent size comes from extremely well cared-for fur (beautiful!); although it is almost certainly at least a little bit bigger and heavier than most wild skunks also.
I've heard of domesticating skunks before, but not seen it in person. I think owners usually (but not always) have a vet remove the scent glands ... wonder if that is the case here?
What the hell is he feeding that thing? He/She doesn't run so much as waddle.
Pet Fox Plays Ball and Knows how to Sit
The scent glands can be removed to take care of the musk. Fox urine is pretty potent, though. Get him house-trained fast.
I've always wanted a pet fox. I guess now I don't have an excuse, except for the supposedly horrid smell they get once they become domesticated. Aside from that, I'm pretty sure this fox is a better dog than my dog.
A bunch of hipsters in a coffeehouse panic when a skunk walks in and stinks the place up.
I'm with the staged crowd as well, although typically pet skunks have their scent gland removed.
