It really is annoying that, because of Rain Man, the average person holds the misconception that autistic = autistic savant.

The autistic spectrum is quite varied. Some people with with Aspergers or mild autism can be very functional. Some autistic savants can even have incredible abilities, but those cases are exceedingly rare.

Most people with autism suffer from developmental delays and mental retardation, and it is quite a devastating disease for families. I remember seeing this one little girl with severe autism who had a broken jaw because she would hit herself in the face ~30 000 times a day (they actually counted).

The human mind certainly has the capacity to remember everything that's ever happened to a person, it's just that very few people are able to, and the majority of those who are capable of this have other kinds of "restrictions". Savant autism is one example of this. I wonder if medical science will ever be capable of "modifying" the human mind to be able to utilize its full potential. And perhaps more importantly; would this really be preferable?

And life wouldn't have much meaning without death, dag. In my way of thinking the two more or less define eachother, as opposing natural phenomenons usually do. Not to mention that the human race would run out of space and resources if everyone could live to be, say, 10,000 years as you said. I guess we'd have to migrate to another planet and use up its resources too. A virus with shoes, that's all we are after all.

Most little chinese kids that are savants at the instruments they play can't put any emotion in to support their technique. This kid is different. He's going to go places.

One, they are measuring intelligence 80 years after the fact.
Second, you are comparing a 6 year old to a 30 year old.

Naming states in alphabetical order, dates and what day it was, ect show more SAVANT behavior than genius.

Einstein was never determined to be a genius until many later years in his live.
While some claim it was in the high 160's, it was closer to 220 plus.
Newer, and newer IQ tested dumbed down what determined his a long time ago, which should have been.

Show me someone who created the fundamental laws of physics, that 80 years from then, is still being followed?
IQ of 160 +. No. Don't think so.

If this kid figures out String/M theory, and can expand on that.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the channel. I need to update that description. I've relaxed the rule somewhat, allowing a number of videos in which an "explanation" is implied. Basically, if it has enough description or info about a particular brain or mind process to imply some definite attribute of minds, then it's in.

When I created the channel, I specifically wanted to avoid it becoming a collection of videos about optical illusions, derren brown clips, and demonstrations by savants and other really smart people. The problem is, if I allow those things, then it is hard to argue against including videos of just about any demonstration of mental behavior, which would pretty much include everything on VS. In practice I don't think it's a problem, but I'm too much of a math geek to have such a loose definition.

Actually, the main problem is that I really don't have the time to properly manage a channel. At least, not in the way I would want to do so.

Despite all that and the fact that it only contains about 100 vids or so, I really do like that virtually every one of them can teach people about how their minds work.
