A feelgood dashcam video

Auger8 jokingly says...

Ya sorta like when that guy tackled the idiot trying to steal the the Olympic torch.

>> ^Yogi:

I love it when good deeds get recognized. This kinda stuff happens all the time everywhere, never gets recognized enough. Maybe this will be a positive thing with everyone having cameras and our image saturated culture.

"Borat" Arrested for Swimsuit Malfunction in Asbury Park NJ

Porksandwich says...

Let's see what gets ignored pretty regularly.

Ass cracks. Hell Im probably guilty of this while out working and sweating like a pig and the pants start getting saturated and sagging. But also the girls who intentionally show them off...or dental floss bottoms that only fill in the gap slightly are somehow OK.

Loose tits, when they flop out of bikini tops, sides of shirts, etc. Never seen anyone arrested for this, but it's still against the law.

Far too tight of clothes, especially in the crotch area of guys. If the only difference is I don't see hair and skin tone but everything else is clearly visible. How is this not properly clothing yourself?

And people walk around in outfits that do this shit all day long.....no one bats an eye. This guy drops his pants and something shifts out of place letting you get a peak and off he goes. Not like he's purposefully pulling his bathing suit aside to let you get a good look.

Behind the Scenes at a McDonald's Photo Shoot

schlub says...

Yeah, this is all fine and dandy but, I'm pretty sure the in latest McDonald's commercial I've seen, the burgers and fries are computer animated (given away by the horrible shading and colour saturation) -- burgers do NOT look like that.

Prometheus: a Spoiler-free Mini-review (Scifi Talk Post)

I completely agree. In most ways, TV SF is better than blockbuster films lately. They have smaller budgets and more time to develop the characters and the story. >> ^JAPR:

Thanks for the review, looks like I'm passing this one up until later on, I got me some Firefly to watch.
It's really disappointing how much the meaningful parts of commercialized arts (film, music, even video games) have become increasingly saturated with lowest-common-denominator-type filler; everything is more about the flair and the polish instead of the substance now.

How Did Mitt Romney Get So Obscenely Rich?

Nebosuke says...

You're missing the point of this video. He never mentioned Democrats or Republicans. Reich, while he was Labor Secretary under Clinton, is currently part of Common Cause. As it slogan says, Holding Power Accountable. Similar to Lawrence Lessig and Change Congress / RootStrikers, they want to lessen the corporate influence on politics to bring it back to a government for the people. Reich is pointing out the flaws in legally allowing companies like Bain Capital to do what they do and profit excessively from it.
>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:

All you really need to know is that its a Robert Reich video to know to throw it in the trash where it belongs. It is such a dumbed down, simplistic 'unnuanced' (to use a leftist term) interpretation. Aw - and he even uses cartoons.
I see a lot of pontification, and moralizing, and oh-so-much self-righteous indignation. This kind of business practice is perfectly legal, and it is engaged in by Democrats and liberals all the time, but somehow only Romney is to blame of course. :eyeroll: Typical. As usual, its an election year hit piece used to angry up the blood of the ignorant and the stupid.
You guys act like firing people is some sort of horrible thing that should never never never be done. I know leftists are blindingly ignorant and uninformed of how things are in the "real world" rather than thier fevered imaginations... But companies have to fire people all the time. In fact, if they don't fire people then they become bloated, cumbered, over-saturated dinosaurs that get annihilated by thier competitors. I notice that even the moronic Robert Reich freely admits that the process makes the business work better and more profitable. No one likes to be fired, but as the years go buy companies build up headcount, and as time goes on there are jobs that become obsolete, tasks that are redundant, and processes that are inefficient. Tightening the screws is healthy. It is how companies survive and thrive.
I myself was a casualty of a "downsizing" a few years ago. It happens. It isn't the end of the world. You brush up your resume, get out and hustle, and find a new job. Only in the tortured, idiotic mindset of a liberals does it make any sense that all jobs should be permenant and unending. Grow up people.

Why is the logged out version of a single video so ugly? (Sift Talk Post)

It's true - it does kind of look like ass with all of the ads splooged all over the page. After six years though - I've come to a conclusion: There's us, and there's them. There are the people we love who are the Sifters that find their way here - and there are the holipoli that rummage through our droppings as we forge a trail into the future.

That's a terrible way to think about site visitors - I know. Maybe it will be our eventual downfall - but have you seen the top 10 Google search terms that lead people to VideoSift? Here we go, for the past 30 days in descending order of popularity:

rape videos
rape video
hunger games trailer
rape scene
rape
irreversible
irreversible rape scene
rape scenes
inside vagina

There's our non-logged-in audience and it's kind of depressing. Google is 45% of our traffic. Fuck them. I'm a little happier about things that go nuts on Facebook for no apparent reason. Log out and look at the facebook comments on this moderately upvoted page. http://videosift.com/video/How-Belly-Dancers-Flip-Coins

So VideoSift is two worlds, the beautiful community where we live and make content and the other VideoSift that actually supports the site and pays the server bills.

There's an adage going around the Internet that if you aren't paying for a product or service ... you are the product or service. See Gmail for a good example of that. You are the product that's being offered to advertisers when you use Gmail. I hope that we have sidestepped that a little bit. It's true, that the content that we all create here does become a product that we offer to advertisers ... at least there is the option of Charter membership and at least we try and keep the ad saturation cordoned off to the non-logged in area.

Wild Swimming -- introducing "natural" swimming pools

MilkmanDan says...

I have outdoor koi ponds, and I'm into the fish-keeping hobby with aquariums also. With the right ecological setup and filtration/circulation system, I think this would make a great visual element / water garden area for a home, plus providing a swimming area that is cleaner and clearer than your average pond/lake.

If you're squeamish about swimming in a lake or pond, consider that your average public pool is saturated with chlorine/bromine and kid-piss... Pick your poison.

Wall Street Has An Unfair Advantage

He says there is no country out there that isn't now saturated in debt (5:40). That's not quite true.
Argentina told the IMF and the World Bank to fuck off.
They aren't completely out of the woods yet, but that is the model to follow.
I have high hopes for South America (we'll see).

Louis C.K. - You Ruined The Earth

The Gate

Gallowflak says...

So... It had great production values and the idea was interesting. Was it necessary to have the first 4 minutes saturated with completely random quick cuts?

And then, what the fuck? Was this funded by GlaxoSmithKline or something?
