What sucks is you cant really have a discussion about the facts because you get labled as antisemetic like some nazi bastard. Ive tried and to even hint that isreal is ever in the wrong or treating people unfairly you are automatically racist. Now of course im not making a general statement that all Jews do this. Ironically its the ones who have never been there, who are the least educated about their own religon, and who are more involved in the american stereotype that "all jews are rich" that resort to this immature tactic.

JFK on Separation of Church and State

9058 says...

This is fucking brilliant. JFK though he did sleep around was the man and such idealistic views as this probably got him killed. To dream of a country where religon can exist but didnt interfere, a world where it didnt matter what you believed because we all would worked together no matter what, and to not judge anyone because tomorrow you might be the one being judged. I do seriously wish all of this was possible and I hold onto hope that it is. The fact that today there is growing intolerance against all religons as tensions build and that a man 40 years ago had the right idea is both sad and inspiring at the same time

Frontline PBS Documentary on "The Mormons"

9058 says...

Hey two of these guys just showed up yesterday to give me one of their books. Their sales pitch was pretty good though they compared the mormon religon to fruit and if it tastes good then try it. I thought the symbolism might get them into trouble with the whole "forbidden fruit" thing. They also seemed to avoid the "interesting" history of how their religon came to be unless i asked.

Richard Dawkins - "What if you're wrong?"

jwray says...

Dawkins handled the question well. It wasn't literally an answer, because everyone already knew the answer, of course. If the KJV bible is correct and Dawkins is wrong, then Dawkins is going to hell. But of course there are hordes of other religons that say everybody but the true believers are going to suffer, and the question asker has no proof that those other religions are incorrect. That's the point, and that's why the burden of proof is on the believer. The inane question is sort of an invitation to make Pascal's wager.

Christian activists disrupt Hindu Senate invocation

BicycleRepairMan says...

BTW, I predict that the moderates will now see me saying that they are just extremists dressed in moderate clothes, but thats not what I'm saying : Moderate religon is real, moderates are real, and they make up the vast majority of religious people in todays world.

As I said, every living creature is a "product of its environment", without outside pressure, the environment doing the selection, we'd still literally be primeval soup, but we are humans, and we are very real indeed.

A Stranger In Her Own City: A Tomboy in Yemen

westy says...

Once again iratoinal behavior and the blind folowing of religoin ore annything go hand in hand. what is ironick is im sure the koran probably in places talkes about treeting all as equals just as most religons do.

eventualy truth always wins out. becuse truth is a natural avent that acures without human activity. the core of scince is the persute of truth. where as the core of religoin is the propgatoin of ideas some of whitch are unfounded and false.

The Wicker Man -Trailer

Farhad2000 says...

There is so much to love about the original version of the movie, for me it was always the soundtrack of pagan music. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wicker_Man_%281973_film%29#Soundtrack

What the new version totally gets wrong is the religious aspect of it, the original film left you feeling tormented inside as the people portrayed really believed their practices and their ways, it was hard to knock something that seemed for them to work out perfectly fine, it unsettled you and left one questioning about the power of collective belief in something leading further into an analysis of religon as a whole, it's benefits and disadvantages. The new film totally lost that by portraying the villagers as being deranged or possessed by some evil... stupid Hollywood.

Utter vomit, exactly like they did with remaking the Omen... Was that really necessary? Was the last movie that well made originally you had to remake it into a piece of shit?

There is simply no justice in the world.

I have be saying this for years. here's another one. God created Adam and Eve, they were cast out of the garden of Eden. they begot sons, Cain and Abel. Cain and Abel took wives. WHERE DID THE WIVES COME FROM? And if you look a the Jewish tara Adam's first wife was Lilth, that must be the misunderstanding about Genisis 1. I live by natures code, DO WHAT YOU WILL AS LONG AS IT BRING NO HARM TO OTHERS. And just for you Jesus freaks out there. JESUS PREACHED AGAINST ORGINIZIED RELIGON because of the coruption. So why did his followers go out and create the largest most corupt orginized religion the world has ever know. And don't get me started on the Muslims.

Penn & Teller - The Bible Myth

Bibles in the schools, or Chuck Norris will kick your ass.

KaiEr says...

Well, he does have a point. A lot of people speak of "separation of church and state", but there is nothing whatsoever that legislates this. The constitution never says a thing in regards to the way in which people throw around "Separation of church and state".

The idea behind the amendment was to keep the government out of religous activities, not for the government to keep the idea of religon out of the lives of people. Seriously, we are not talking about forced indoctrination.

But, I do believe there should be an option to teach and take this class for whoever wants. As long as there is no prostylizing, there should not be a problem in teaching the bible.

I don't know one person who has gone through public school in the US who has not had some sort of lesson on the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian dieties. Why not teach the Bible in the same way?

Do people actually believe that the general population has such a low IQ as to think they cannot form their own views, just as most have done with those Greek/Roman/Egyptian dieties? I don't see a lot of Americans running around worshiping Zeus or Anubis...

We do not see the ACLU trying to throw away Greek, Roman, and Egyptian history, why then do people wish to throw away such an obvious part of American history.

I'm not trying to start a theological fight, just an educational one. I see no need for the complete abandonment of something that does play a major part in the history of the majority of Americans (regardless of their current beliefs).
