Kevin Smith Shares A Moment With Daughter Harley Quinn Smith

How an Aussie postman deals with dogs

Digitalfiend says...

I don't generally mind the delivery guys giving my dog a snack, usually small milk bones, but I do get newtboy's point. My Lab broke part of his upper rear pre-molar (the big looking ones with double-points near the back) and I didn't want it pulled so about $3000 and a root canal later, he has a cool metal cap. Unfortunately, if he gets something really hard and/or the wrong shape, there is a chance it can pop off; it's happened two times already and that means extra trips to the vets to be put under and have the cap re-glued. That's $$$ and lots of stress for my dog.

So far everyone has asked before feeding him so it's all good but yeah I get it. My problem isn't so much food as having to tell everyone not to play tug with him (plastic Frisbees, nylon ropes, etc.)

I think the guy in this video has probably gotten permission to feed the dogs; though with some of the more aggressive ones he probably just does it to try and establish a rapport with the them.

Craig Ferguson - 9/11

brycewi19 says...

Although I'm going to miss Craig, I'm going to miss the rapport and inside jokes he's made with Geoff the most.

BTW, he didn't lose his show, he told CBS he's not renewing his contract after 10 years.

No clue, I just liked their name so went to look at their stuff and saw this. Just seemed out of character that's all, made me chuckle. The internet only ever matters in the moment, that's what I love about it

Was I actually banned for it??? Hmmm...I don't even remember who it was or why everything was heated. Goes to show you how little the internet matters.

Sorry dude (or gal). I jumped the gun on the ban. We used to run a tighter ship around here but I guess eventually it just caused too much "free speech" drama. If you must know I banned you initially for you calling somebody a "dumb ass". That kind of direct insult is actually prohibited in our rules. However, because things get heated here, or because sometimes somebody is just being sarcastic, we've gotten a little lenient on that one.

So once again, I apologize. Maybe with more of a rapport I'll be able to recognize your intent. Keep on siftin'

Hahahahahahahaha, you banned someone for calling someone a dumbass, what the hell crawled up your butt that day

<edit> And as I was posting this in your profile I saw this in your Comedy I Know And Love playlist: http://videosift.com/video/Charles-Barkley-calls-himself-a-Dumbass It's a running theme and you are the common denominator. Love you!

Importance of rapport and mirroring with Derren Brown

packo says...

>> ^Payback:

Sounds like he's picking up on subconscious movements and mannerisms. The hero probably kept glancing at the edge of the "mirror" too much, suggesting to the other guy a yellow line on the ground. Mannerisms of how people look when surrounded by screaming others.
Either that or it's a total hand job.

the hand job seems like the most likely candidate

Police Brutality: Cop Shoots, Kills Unarmed Man & His Dog

moopysnooze says...

I'd like to see the police as more part of the community. For there to be the same police persons assigned to the same areas day in day out on foot e.g. for most people who live in the area to see them once a week at least walking by or helping an old lady cross the road etc.
Get to know the people in your particular area - be able to relate and keep an eye on what is happening.
Build a good rapport with those who live in your designated area.
Join in with community events and show themselves to be one of the people who are able to let their hair down and have fun like everyone else.
Use common sense, if you found your son underaged trying drugs would you take him to jail or warn him and try to get him help? Extend that to those in your neighbourhood - if you find some other teenagers trying drugs, what would you do?

Hopefully this would improve the currently negative perceptions people hold of the police and for the police to understand the local citizens better, treating people with a bit of heart and empathy along with less of a chance of being so distant and the feeling of being "above" everyone else.

It's good to see this representational government taking care of its poor once again. Funny how you never hear of the home invasions for the rich, but the poor are all over the nightly news having their dogs shot and them shot as well.

And your solution to police brutality is...?

TYT: The World's Greatest Pick-up Artist!

Sagemind says...

“I have to engage, build a rapport, have a few laughs and close. It’s exhausting,” Paul says, heading out to pick up women. “I don’t see anything wrong with sleeping with girls whom I have no long-term interest in. I’m more selective about whom I have dinner with than whom I have sex with. On a good week, I’m probably having 10, 15 dates. I’ve slept with 130, 132 women. I’ve had sex in a New York City cab, and the guy reached back and touched her, so they’re getting their jollies off too. A lot of my game centers around not wasting financial resources. I don’t even take girls out. I meet them out on the street, and I invite them back to my place. If I’m attracted to her and the end game is to be physical, I want them in a controlled environment where I can escalate it into a sexual scenario." --Paul Jenka

Chilaxe, which do you think would be a better means of positively influencing Iranian politics?

a) Talking shit on FOX news.

b) Building rapport based on mutual respect.

Intellectualism doesn't require world leaders to answer disingenuous questions from ethically challenged news channels.

I need some help (Blog Entry by Sarzy)

winkler1 says...

We decided not to do video, but when picking our still photog, his presentation and professionalism really stood out. He had us come to a rented studio, wrote up an org chart of the family relations on our first interview - showing he was organized and was aligning his priories with ours. He projected samples of his work and we quizzed him about his most challenging assignments. He had a film background, understood the processes, not just point and click.
Other photogs we talked to met us in coffee shops and were half assed. So that first impression, and attention to detail, was huge. On the day of the wedding he got good shots while blending in, easy going and organized, and had a backup photog.
From what I've heard, a lot of photogs learn the biz 'backing up' an established person.
On the other hand, I read a Yelp review of a photog who lost a couple's weddings pics in a HD crash. This is a *huge* responsibility...trust me, that bride will bad mouth him till the day she dies
Previous work is really important because this is a one-shot deal that has to be right... combination of personality/rapport, technical chops, and of course good taste/sensibilities with editing.

Torture- Never Say Never? (Philosophy Talk Post)

deedub81 says...

How do you figure it would not help? Building rapport often takes months.

We don't have months. That argument doesn't fly. Your options are to use "enhanced interrogation" to get the information out of him or say goodbye to your family. Waterboarding him isn't a guaranty, but it'll give you a chance at saving your family.

>> ^gwiz665:
I would still not torture, because it would not help. I would have someone who is not me, because I'm emotionally invested, to get him to talk by "friendly" means. Getting a rapport, so he would want to tell the truth.
When people say, "well we've tried everything else, next on the list is torture" then they have failed. If they have tried all else, then torture will not get them anything useful. They failed.
