Assassination attempt During Pauline Marois Victory Speech

I like how stupid Quebec separatists are. As if they don't understand what the United States does. If you secede from Canada, your country will belong to the US. We'll completely control you, and you won't have shit to say about it.

So good luck leaving Canada, enjoy your few weeks of freedom, before GM has a plant in your new country and suddenly there's these things called "slums."

A 62-year-old-man man was swiftly arrested outside the venue and a rifle was seized.

The man, wearing a blue robe and with his face partially covered by a balaclava, allegedly entered the venue from the back as Marois was giving a jubilant address calling for unity among Quebecers. The back door was about six metres from the stage.

"He shot at least one shot toward two victims," Const. Danny Richer said.

That's how we do it here folks; in ski masks and bath robes with some old rifle.

I had heard Florida can be quite the hick-ville in some places. For some reason it didn't strike me as very "south".

More and more, I keep seeing reasons to thank my good fortune to have avoided the need to move to the US, and instead went to Canada. Sure it is Quebec, but it could be worse

Who says fishing isn't exciting? (Wait for it...)

Well, to be honest, it's not like they look like they are fishing in the ocean - I'd be shocked too..
This must be an inlet or something connected to the ocean, a place you wouldn't expect to see a shark.
Edit: I like the un-tube chopped version better.

I've seen a few shows on cable which have shown that sharks are being found way up-river in places they thought they couldn't live. One show in particular was looking for Greenland Sharks up near the great lakes and I'm pretty sure they found them... Let's check the internets quick: yup... here's the link to the description of the show:

Basically bigassed sharks near Quebec.

I think they had an episode of River Monsters where they talked about that.

What do you do for work ? (Talks Talk Post)

notarobot says...

Generally, I try to be a photographer. I've been trying to do it for years, but it's hard to be an artist and the industry has been changing blah blah blah. I went to college for photography. I kinda hate chasing clients, and staff photographer positions are rare these days. I'd love to do photo-essay work like this, but it isn't the 1940's anymore and getting paid work from thriving magazines can be difficult.

Lately, for work, I've been teaching English as a second language. I just got back from spending a year in Quebec City. I am planning to move to China to teach at the end of the summer. I hope I still get to log in to the sift from there.

You can see my current portfolio here: http://mrrichey.500px.com/2012_portfolio/#/0

My old (needs updating) website is here: http://scottrichey.ca/

When I take a picture with my phone it usually ends up here: http://scottricheyphoto.tumblr.com/

I really love making beautiful images. Teaching can be fun too.

Great post idea @BoneRemake.

Peace.

Where in the world are you? (Travel Talk Post)

notarobot says...

I'll start take too long typing to post the first comment.

I grew up in Halifax, Canada. I have traveled extensively throughout Canada, and visited every major city in the country East of the Rocky Mountains and South of the Yukon. Presently I reside in Quebec City, where I have been working and polishing my French. Any time I wish I can take a short bus ride to the Old City (or La Cite) to go for a walk and find a view overlooking the St. Lawrence River. In the summer, there is great cycling here. In winter there is enough snow to celebrate the season.
