I think he was pretty clear that this was not a prototype. You don't put serial numbers on prototypes. This was SN0011 and customer delivered.

Maybe I don't understand the context of this guys show, but why does he keep describing this thing negatively? As prototypes go, not everyone has access to the Chinese manufacturing industry, and I think it takes a pretty awesome understanding of electronic engineering to pack all that shite into that tiny frame. I thought it was impressive.

Well, no, but it is easier and quicker. You could always put in a simpler controller later once you've worked out the hardware, but microcontrollers are cheap enough that there might be no real advantage.

You could consider the arduino as a prototyping board but some of the smallest ones, at around $10, are cheap enough to just leave in place.

p.s. Looking at the original 1974 Countach, it seems that Lamborghini copied drew inspiration from the Mercedes prototype.

To be fair, my friends and I are extremely racist to each other in our text messages, but we are a hodge podge mix of white, black, Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Iranian, and really who cares about trying to include them all.

See, smart people gravitate towards each other regardless of race or sexual orientation because they were in honors and AP classes together, competing in academic decathlon, speech and debate, and went to the same tutoring place, hanging out not because they were cool and looked the same, but because they are intellectual gladiators; only idiots revolve their lives around a group of mammals simply because they look alike. It's truer than you think. You end up living up to other people's expectations and fail to experience the joys of your unique mind if you don't diversify your experiences. Prototyping or even making a master from which to make a mold from. With both types of printer, there is a level of finishing needed.

The resin types will have an area of unwanted structure at the top to adhere the model to the raising arm. That needs to be cut off and cleaned. One of the biggest advantages to the resin printers is that your layers can be incredibly thin, leaving you with an almost flawless model surface.

The filament and powder types can get a decent surface, but due to the thicker layers, you will still have to spend some time smoothing the entire model before making a mold.

So, is the highest best use of this prototyping?

They don't pay prototype helicopter test pilots enough. And they never will.

Neat. Does the entire system *draw* 1kw, or does the beam actually deliver 1kw (seems unlikely)? Either way, it must require massive off-camera cooling equipment. I've seen arrays of LEDs used for welding before and that was impressive.

It must be a prototype because the company that makes it doesn't list this model, and don't give much information on the models they do list. And, of course, it doesn't look remotely practical, awesome as it is.

That is a straight up proton accelerator if I've ever seen one (okay, maybe photons, but close enough) and I damn well want one. I promise to use it responsibly and never cross the streams.
