After Hours: The Terrifying Truth about Doc Brown (BTTF)

poolcleaner says...

I spent October 21st skateboarding with the wife. Ahhh, 1950s Tony Hawk, thank you for inspiring the future -- even if you didn't make hoverboards a reality.

But really, the fun of skateboarding is in the resistance that the wheels have on the ground. Being able to propel oneself forward and back; tick tacking, drifting, ollieooping (hah), and other fun maneuvers not possible with a hoverboard. I truly prefer wheels, berrings, and the donuts & trucks which support them.

Eagle Ain't About Havin' Drones In His Hood

Payback says...

I doubt it. Drone propellers are pretty wimpy on purpose and eagles drop flying thrust kicks on other (heavier than drones) animals all the time.

It totally fucked that shit up though.

I feel sorry for the eagle - it probably suffered a few cuts on its feet, maybe even a broken bone or two. I hope not, however.

An interracial kiss nearly sank Star Trek

poolcleaner says...

Ack, I want to hear more! One of those videos that you look at and go, cool it's an entire 5 minutes of Trekkie AND civil rights goodness -- then it's over in a blink. Should have been 15 minutes. Damn.

We really need to hear more about Tack-eh's "liberal" conversations with Roddenberry... My wife is a TNG fanatic (and Asian), so this might be the selling point I've been looking for to get her to watch the OG with me, which she doesn't consider serious enough scifi.

Also, on the subject of the "South" -- my family is from Florida/SC and I remember my mom freaking out because she worked in a building (circa 1988) with a colored's only bathroom. She had no idea that there were still relics of segregation in public places. I don't know how it survived THAT long, but when you live an hour away from the nearest grocery store, yet the manatee "preserve" (they didn't look very preserved, the majority of them covered from head to tail in propeller scars...) is less than five minutes away, you're bound to find things that escaped the flow of time. Trailers on blocks of cement, just resting on top of the white sand in a hurricane fuckland... How smart my ancestors were.

Cruise runs hard for the money

sixshot says...

Of all the MI movies, I still haven't seen 3 yet... for one strange reason:

if you're running away from an incoming explosion, the force should propel you FORWARD, not to your left!

Nothing about this toy makes sense!

Asmo says...

The bit where the launcher connects to the head breaks fairly quickly which leaves you with a working head but no way to propel it.

It's a cheap toy that is available in junk shops like The Reject Shop (in Australia at least), made in China of course. Seems to entertain the kids and drug smokers of course. ; )

Modular Revolving Shotgun - AR,Standalone

TheGenk says...

I wonder how long the seal between the barrel and drum holds.
With your normal household revolver the gasses escaping from there are quite dangerous, scaled up to a shotgun shell wouldn't want that so close to my face.
That being said I undertand the burn velocity of the propellant is probably lower than that of a revolver cartridge, but is it significant?
Any Videosift Munitions/Firearms expert wanna school me a bit on that?

BB-8 droid from The Force Awakens Rolls out on stage

deathcow says...

I think the head is magnetically attracted to the ball with some powerful neo magnets, and the head has enough gyros and wheels to drive around on the ball.

I think the bottom ball has spinning gyros as well used to propel it.

Bosch self-drive car demo

poolcleaner says...

Fuck you, Philip. In the future you are DONE. I'm going rogue and joining the raiders. While you're checking your email to see if there's an ineffective faggot that'll blow you while your wife is auto-driving in her black cock mobile, I'll be riding alongside of you on a jet propelled tricycle with a carboard cut out of a society car, just like yours.

Except it's not, Philip. It's NOT just like yours, Philip. It's really a cyberpunk barbarian motorized tricycle with a series of harpoons and tazers that I send flying at your smart car, connected to barbed wire and chains, that I use to ensnare my prize. And you, Philip. You're my bitch. My little Tatum.

Show the people what happens to future idiots who forget how to drive. That's right, their wife doesn't care because she's already taken care of and your ass is probably used on a constant basis by dirty disease ridden scavs. After the raiders have had the ol ultra violence on ya, real savage like.

Pilatus PC-12 Takeoff - Impressive Propeller Tip Vortices

19 ft. R/C B-17 "Flying Fortress"

oritteropo says...

Well each of the four engines is €800, and at 5.7m wingspan it's over half the size of a piper cub (11m wingspan)... the cost probably wasn't that far off. I didn't look up any of the other components though.

The next video shows it with upgraded engines, that cost almost €1200 each... in this one the engines weren't powerful enough for three bladed propellers like the original, hence the upgrade.

A New Level Of Archery Skills

Asmo says...

I think you're underestimating the draw on some of those bows as well. They look like kids toys, but classic short bows (rather than modern compound pulley bows), particularly horn ones, can range from 45 to over 100 pounds draw. You don't need a deep draw to propel an arrow at killing speeds, particularly at targets under 20 feet. Even in chainmail.

Stormsinger said:

Chain mail was never just metal rings...it was always backed by hard leather at the least. I do not find it believable that a 10# bow could penetrate -real- chain mail. When he gets some unbiased, reputable third party to verify his claims I'll reconsider...until then, I can't see this as anything more than some kid's fantasy.

Cop Accidentally Shoots Self Inside Elevator

AeroMechanical says...

"Cooked" rounds only happen in automatic weapons where the chamber becomes hot enough to cause the propellent to spontaneously ignite. That cannot be the case here.

Of course, it could be some sort of defect, but it's pretty clear to me watching the video that he wasn't handling the gun with anything like the respect something so dangerous deserves.

charliem said:

And what if this was a cooked round through no fault of the gun or the operator?

Dust Devil @ Rose Bowl 12.31.14

There was some good eia in there which gave me a good laugh. Just chase it down and grab on (dumb, dumb, dumb). That dude was lucky he didn't get harpooned. Three quarter or one inch emt (Electrical metallic tubing) can be extremely dangerous when being propelled through the air.

Doubt - How Deniers Win

enoch says...

@bobknight33
you are confusing a political argument with a scientific one.

as @bcglorf has pointed out,the science is already In and established.the debate is on the relative parameters i.e: how much/little the affects will manifest.
so while it has been established their IS climate change and man HAS affected that change.the debate is the varying degrees and the level of impact.

so we know there will be a global effect, the debate is HOW and WHEN it will manifest, and on a smaller scale, just how much influence humankind is responsible.

some predict an extinction level catastrophe, while other predictions are not quite as apocalyptic, but the debate on whether or not climate change is real..is over.

because that is a scientific debate.

now in the political arena, whose job is to obfuscate any relevant facts to muddy the argument to propel the interests of extremely monied and powerful interests, they create a faux debate to give the appearance that the debate is still ongoing and the science is not settled.

which is exactly what this video is addressing.
remember, they dont have to win the argument.they just have to make a reasonable sounding argument..even if based on bullshit...to make you think.."well,...maybe" and they GOTCHA!

so you can make this a liberal vs conservative argument if you wish, but i would just point out that you playing the game exactly they way they have set it up.to manipulate you.

as for your assertion of "liberal owned media".
dude...
stop parroting that tired old trope that does not hold up to one minute of scrutiny.you are literally doing the plutocrats work FOR them.
every outlet of media in the united states is owned and operated by FIVE companies.

FIVE.

and not a single one could even remotely be considered "liberal",because that does not serve their interests.

this debate is simply NOT a political debate,it is a scientific debate.
plain and simple...learn to recognize the difference buddy.

and stop being a tool for fuck sakes.../slap
you are better than that.

and just a side note, for my own personal pleasure and enjoyment:
@dannym3141 you are my fucking hero brother! between you and @newtboy i struggle to hold onto my cynicism around both of you.

you guys give me hope.

now lets go grab a smoke @bobknight33 cuz these pansies wont let me smoke inside and i have to do it on the patio and they keep trying to get me to drink that godawful "redbull" when crystal meth does a much better job.

sheesh..kids these days.

ok..enough ranting for today and smacking bob around.
ya'all stay awesome.
