Wheel of Musical Impressions with Ariana Grande

lucky760 says...

Definitely. Those were not impromptu.

Don't know if it's just me or everyone, but Jimmy Fallon's phony surprised hilarity like in this clip feels so rehearsed, insincere, and annoying.

I don't dislike him or his show in general (though I only watch clips and not the full show), but that fakeness of his is really bothersome.

police detaining a person for no reason

Well this is a very interesting video, because I'm trying to figure out wtf UTA stands for, I'm thinking it's Utah Transit Authority or something. So do they have a rule about not smoking on UTA property? That's got to be it.

I'm thinking these two male cops are thinking what a lot of male cops think, which is why the fuck did this little woman become a police officer.
But i got to cover her ass because she probably can't fight her way out of a wet paper bag. She probably needs to get into the DARE program so her biggest challenge is keeping 7 yr olds from putting boogers on her pantleg.

Of course, some women cops are pretty awesome, pretty fearless, and quite useful. Some, like I suspect this one, is pretty worthless.

I don't understand why they trespassed this guy from UTA property however. I just don't see how that's legal.

The whole interaction is quite irritating because I have to agree with the hoodie guy, nothing makes sense.

Which is fine as far as it goes, until he starts painting all cops are brainless gov't toads who sponge off the taxpayer etc etc etc. You lost me there, boss, because now you're insulting my avocation, in which I take a lot of pride.

Lemme give you an example of police work. Yesterday I helped a lady who had an auto accident, her brand new Mini Cooper got destroyed by some little juvenile driving a big ass Jeep Cherokee.

Today I assisted my Lt. with a neighbor complaint, some jerkoff who sounded like he had 18 Red Bulls for breakfast and wouldn't shut the fuck up had thrown a bunch of trash over a patio divider in an apt. complex because he thought his Latvian neighbor was making too much noise. Nobody got arrested, we were just there trying to resolve these two idiots from killing each other.

Then today I drove some old handicapped biddy 15 miles down the road so she could be with her husband who was having hip surgery. it took us a good 30 minutes to find out where the old codger was but we did it.

Two other officers responded to a family who called about their grown son who was off his meds and had a knife...we've been to this house dozens of times because the son is a fucking mental. I thought for sure this guy would get shot dead today, but turns out he was just arrested and transported to the PD for processing.

A couple of people got arrested for shoplifting, nobody got beat, they got a piece of paper with a court date on it.

etc etc etc

But no, this 'hispanic' dude has to jump to 15 conclusions about what ALL police officers do and it's total bullshit.

Dude, you're about as idiotic as these phony UTA cops.

It makes the whole effort to reach out to women thing seem phony when they can't face up to their mistake (perceived or real) and just say 'That was stupid to pick that color' and get the paint changed. I don't see how doubling down on your stupidity ever works.

Furious 7 - Official and Officially Awesome Trailer

lucky760 says...

@gorillaman @ChaosEngine

Fast & Furious (which is part 4) was the first step in the right direction as the first in the series to start a transition, although only marginally, out of a fun-but-really-stupid category of action flick. Tokyo Drift was definitely the worst of them. (I'm just hoping the tie-in with part 7 and the return of Lucas Black will somehow make up for its existence; introducing us to Han's back story in Fast Five helped.)

Fast Five was the first good flick on its upswing toward world domination because it was much less dumb, but had a much richer story, better characters, incredible practical effects, a huge, diverse cast, and awesome international settings. This was the first time it was much more kick-ass than pure roll-your-eyes-and-sigh maximum-dumb-shitatude accompanying the action.

Fast & Furious 6 continued to prove they were onto a winning formula and continued that trend. (However, there's a fucking-stupid ~9 minute fight on an airplane WHILE it is driving at near-takeoff speeds on a runway. I did some calculations the last time I watched it and remember thinking they had to be on like a 20-mile-long runway. Come on guys, it's called editing; or at least have some phony excuse for that bullshitestry. But I digress.)

One of the most compelling parts of both parts 5 and 6 were some kick-ass (though of course impossible) practical stunt sequences that may have been the first I've seen as a fully-grown man to earn me a visceral ear-to-ear grin and cause me to unintentionally, audibly say "Holy shit!" in the movie theater.

Can't wait for part 7 and I hope they are able to just keep churning them out, despite the unfortunate loss of Paul Walker because these are some seriously ass-kicking action flicks.

#ALSicebucket Haters... watch this...

highdileeho says...

These IBC's are about guilt and folding to peer pressure, I don't want anything to do with this phony feel good horseshit. Some people are better off with a Robin Williams mindset, and I'm not talking about ALS sufferer's, I'm talking about the bleeding hearts. This whole meme is bullshit, and once the chips are stacked we will have another livestrong scandal and everyone will be shocked. Ohh no they won't because by that time they will be wallowing in their next gross abomination.

Where does the "gay lisp" come from?

lucky760 says...

Totally agree with @Polymathe, @artician, and @Ickster. This is a horrible video.

And it's simply ridiculous to start it off with the idea that every man has only the two options to either speak 1) with a phony tough guy voice using limited vocabulary or 2) with a lispy feminine voice using a broader vocabulary.

Amateur Polish rocket science

lucky760 says...

To me as well it totally feels like a phony video trying to look authentic, especially at the beginning. The camera shake and dirt on the lens and poor focus all feel inauthentic, but otherwise the video seems real and the oil drum explosions are totally plausible.

The Power of Empathy - Empathy Vs. Sympathy

While I generally agree with what she is saying, trying to empathize with someone with whom you can't, can make you seem phony.
I've had the opportunity to spend some time with people stricken with quadriplegia over the last few years, and most people can not even begin to understand what it's like to deal with that.

Adam Hills destroys Joan Rivers (Adele comments)

chingalera says...

Indeed, and what speechless said. The problem with Joan Rivers is that her routine is as dated as the expiration year on her appeal. She's a creature whose new routine consists of a lot of hoarse rambling with no periods and odds-taking on how hideous she will be the next time she goes under a knife. Like Bill Burr said, she perpetually looks like she lost a fight 3 days ago....

No tact in picking-on Adelle. She's incredibly talented with such a winning personality and loves her fans...If yer gonna make jokes about fat pick a fat douchebag not a frikkin',girl-next-door pop icon in her hey-day!

Rivers' prob'ly a bitter cunt off camera...She's always come off as insincere and phony.
