Serious ownage. Funny and informative as usual. Mr Plinkett always nails movie reviews, and all things movies. I enjoy his reviews way more then the movies themselves. Every.Single.Time.

Translation: Total Ownage of the left.

"Liberals go straight to ugly racist stereotypes when attacking conservative blacks, calling them oversexualized, stupid and/or incompetent.
The late, lamented, white liberal reporter Mary McGrory called Justice Antonin Scalia "a brilliant and compelling extremist" -- while dismissing Thomas as "Scalia's puppet."
More recently, Democratic Sen. Harry Reid called Scalia "one smart guy." In the next breath, he proclaimed Thomas "an embarrassment to the Supreme Court," adding, "I think that his opinions are poorly written."
When Bush made Condoleezza Rice the first black female secretary of state, terror swept through the Democratic Party. What if people began to notice and ask questions: "Who's that black woman always standing with George Bush?" Never mind! He's probably arresting her.
In addition to an explosion of racist cartoons portraying Rice as Aunt Jemima, Butterfly McQueen from "Gone With the Wind," a fat-lipped Bush parrot and other racist cliches, allegedly respectable liberals promptly called her stupid and incompetent.
Joseph Cirincione, then with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said Rice "doesn't bring much experience or knowledge of the world to this position." (Unlike Hillary Clinton, whose experience for the job consisted of being married to an impeached, disbarred former president.)
Democratic consultant Bob Beckel -- who ran Walter Mondale's 1984 campaign so competently that Mondale lost 49 states -- said of Rice, "I don't think she's up to the job."
When Michael Steele ran for senator in Maryland in 2006, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee dug up a copy of his credit report -- something done to no other Republican candidate. He was depicted in black face with huge red lips by liberal blogger Steve Gilliard. Oreo cookies were rolled down the aisle at Steele during a gubernatorial debate in 2002.
Trafficking in racist imagery is consequence-free for liberals because they have ruined charges of "racism" with their own overuse of the term. By now, any accusation of racism has the feel of a Big Foot sighting."

Not one of the people you mentioned commenting on Conservative Blacks is on the "Left" in anyway shape or form. Please apologize to us lefties immediately because we can't take this sort of abuse.

Ownage. Excellent clip. I'd upvote 10x if I could.

I have no problem with the Israeli people. I however have huge issues with the government and the apartheid they commit. Lest we not forget. The US endorses it, otherwise they wouldn't send billions to the Israeli government every year, and turn a blind eye as Gaza is blockaded and suffering.

Unfortunately the citizenry of our respective nations all too often blindly follow our governments without question, or if we do question, our governments often ignore us and silence us through propaganda. As if -everything- your government does is purely good and in the best interest in EVERYONE. No it isn't. Often it isn't good, and it is in the best self-interest.

Instead of defending your views of the bible, you spend all your effort and energy defending how it's our fault that you're not willing to reason.

Yeah, funny that. Maybe I just like stirring.

Do you mean the parts in the New Testament that teaches masters how they should beat their slaves? Or the parts that tell slaves that they should obey their masters like they obey Christ?

Since you have such an intimate knowledge of how the bible "was written by men to reflect the traditions and social mores of that time period", I'll let you figure that one out.

Do you selectively ignore these passages when you read the New Testament? Is that how you delude yourself into believing?

Oh yes. I found early on that when I really wanted to delude myself, better than selectively ignoring passages, I'd ignore all of them and just work on second-hand knowledge.

I know, your own words sound pretty terrible when I throw them back at you eh:

No really, I meant it. Well done. It didn't mean anything, and was possibly the worst ownage attempt I've ever read, but it sure sounded spiffy.

I'm sorry, but i'm not sure how this was ownage. I was rather dissapointed not only in the language he used but his points, particularly becuase i'm usually impressed by his oratory skills.

a) the starting part was so fox news'esque, simply belittle someone else who has an opinion different than yours. Making fun and calling them names, instead of discussing the issues.

b) I understand he is well spoken, but his points can be weak someones. I mean for him to overlook reasons 1 and 2 (which is the meat of the questioner's question) and look at reason 3 (as claimed by hitchens) for osama to hate the west. Just logically think about this, if i hate you becuase you kill a member of my family each day, and also slap me everyday. You then go on to claim how we can never be friends because I will never accept your slapping of me. Do yo understand what i mean, the main idea is completely overlooked. Afterwards hitchens does a pretty standard right wing republican tactic... i will fight for democracy, against-genocide... etc. Does he think anybody will disagree to those ideals. It's like saying i will fight poverty and justice. It's just like what bush administration did during the war on terror and iraq, to argue things that no 'patriot' would question instead of the actual topics.

Overall, i'd say I dont think this was ownage at all. Rather I'm somewhat unimpressed by hitchens, as his usual clips are him showing off his prowess of words and debating...

Owned: Caller questioning taxing him for others healthcare

HadouKen24 says...

>> ^gtjwkq:
Where's the ownage?
Because we live in society, we pay for the stuff our elected leaders choose to spend money on. So?
The caller is questioning whether he should be morally responsible for other's healthcare, which he isn't, even though, currently, he is paying for it already.
Just stating what things are doesn't justify them.

However, he's not just stating the way things are. He's also pointing out that the caller has a positive moral obligation to pay taxes for healthcare, etc., given the numerous benefits he's received from society. Study after study has shown that the biggest factors affecting long-term financial and social success are things we don't have any control over--our parents' circumstances and income most primarily. Hard work--at least, a minimum amount of work--may be a necessary element, but it's not even close to the only element. There are lots and lots of people who work very hard but don't make much money.

It's not inappropriate at all for society to ask for a margin of that benefit back in order to help some of the people who lack those advantages.

Public healthcare more resource efficient than truly private healthcare? Crazy talk.

But true. The VA, for instance has the lowest cost per patient, but has been consistently classed as the best health care in the country for general care.
