A girl sings the "Diva Dance" from the Fifth Element

ant (Member Profile)

Armenian girl sing "Fifth Element" Opera live on The Voice.

harlequinn says...

She's quite good.

It's essentially a popular music competition. Opera does not fall into that category anymore. An entirely unfortunate turn of events really. So no surprise that the other two don't think they can do anything with her.

The original movie version was sung without digital alteration, but the on screen actress was miming.

The original song, Il dolce suono, from the opera Lucia di Lammermoor, is much nicer without the pop ending from the movie.

Amazing. I didn't think a person could sing that song without digital help.
Really, only one of them wanted her on their team!?! Now I want to see the other contestants they think have more potential than this girl.

Internet Explorer Sucks

RedSky says...

Rumour is that MS's W10 browser will support Chrome extensions. Somehow.

I'm somewhat curious. I'm falling out of favour with Chrome, it gets bogged down and chuggs badly on mobile CPUs when you use font scaling. Also Google's application design is increasingly becoming restrictive and frustrating. Why is there no way to turn off auto-update? Why is the interface locked from modification and I'm forced to squint painfully at the address bar on my 1920x1080p 13 inch laptop?

Firefox has terrible font rendering and I haven't been able to improve it. I originally moved over from it because it seemed to have memory issues where over time videos would randomly freeze for like half a second during play intermittently, dunno if they fixed it.

Opera seems better in these regards but I can't for the life of me get used to browsing without alt + # for switching between tabs.

Meanwhile IE 11 handles font scaling well and memory wise seems fine, but also lacks basic extensions at the moment. If they fix this issue I may switch over at least on my laptop.

Need More Proof That The Music Industry Is Fake? Here You Go

newtboy says...

While I do get your point, I think perhaps you miss the point that a real live singing/playing concert is different from a 'pop star concert' (although I do think they should be billed as 'pop star performances', not 'concerts').
If I go to the opera, I am expecting to hear people sing live while performing a play.
If I go to a 'concert', I expect to see a singer or band singing or playing live, but not doing much else (old Van Halen and GWAR being the exceptions).
If I go to a pop star performance, I usually expect to see flashing lights, smoke, sparks, special effects, stunts, and crazy dancing while you hear a track of the performer.
It's not possible to do the stage performance AND sing competently at the same time. If I expect to see dancing, I should not expect the dancer to also sing live, that's not realistic to me.

Also to be fair that's a bunch of bullshit...the technology exists to overcome all of those issues. You really can't count it as she IS singing if no one can hear it and what they can hear is a pre-recorded track...one that was most likely auto-tuned so even THAT isn't a live pre-recording.

I just don't get the logic of the fans and the defenders....you like the music you "hear" on the radio...you like the music you "hear" on your CDs or MP3s. When you are paying top dollar to "hear" and now "see" that music performed live why is it OK to let the "live music" slide and be sacrificed for a dog and pony show that doesn't have anything to do with the music you were drawn to in the first place?

Along with Payback, I too am running into oddities accessing the site. For me, it appears to be browser based.

Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox, it works fine. Opera, my preferred browser, has stopped working with the videosift address. The cdn version or direct IP routes work fine.

The ipv4 address matches, and I've yet to acknowledge ipv6 but I'll assume it's accurate

videosift.com -> 2600:3c00::f03c:91ff:fe70:f3af, 66.228.54.105
cdn.videosift.com -> 108.161.188.129

New Trailer Debuts for Christopher Nolan's 'Interstellar'

billpayer says...

Gravity uses existing technology, existing spacecraft, existing spacesuits.

Interstellar uses make believe technology, make believe spaceships, make believe space suits, make believe calamity, make believe killer sandstorms, make believe space planets and plenty more hokey bullshit.

S'ok if you want space opera for 2 hours but I like my sci-fi more believable.

No, dumbassess....Here's a 'strawman' for yas all:

The terrorists are created by a highly influential and financed cabal of cunts who need attention drawn away from their fascist police-state vision of something worse than Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, and Nineteen-Eighty-Four combined ever thought about being imagined, in order to prepare the world for an end game fist-fuck without lube and wrist-watches the likes of which Bradbury, Huxley, or Orwell could have never fucking imagined in their worst drug-addled nightmares, This potential anything-goes scenario enabled, by willing participants who think they have a clue ready to doubly-assfuck the gullible into thinking that sophistic mumbo-jumbo is some kind of cure.

Get a fucking clue people, you're all cattle to the conductors of the most twisted opera of catshit ever perpetrated on the civilized world.

Now: Are these the words of a "troll" or simply someone with a clue tired of reading the rambling retardation of passionate idiots??

Honest Trailers - The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Xaielao says...

Walking Dead show is such a soap opera. It's not remotely as well done as the comics and yet being based on a comic there needs to be 40 minutes of filler per actual story with each episode, so they fill it will soap opera bullshit.
