Rolemodel Cop Finds Gun, Remains Calm
Well, the last post contained all of the message I was allegedly quoting from and left out my comments, so I'll try again. In California, open carry is lawful so long as the weapon is unloaded within city limits. The same section of the CPC authorized law enforcement officers to stop persons exercising their open carry rights to determine if the gun is loaded or not. That was the law when I was a Santa Ana Reserve Police Officer. What we just witnessed in the video could have been a training scenario from the police academy: it portrayed two persons exhibiting the proper behavior in a potentially stressful situation. That is a police officer who should be a training officer. Incidentally, Oceanside, CA has a number of former (never say ex-) Marines and to them I say Semper Fi! from Doc.
Penn & Teller - Everything is subject to terrorist attack
You know, if money wasn't such a big part of the nuclear industry and planning too small a part people wouldn't have such a problem with it. Building them in places such as, I don't know, on the tail end of the San Andreas fault in San Clemente and oceanside as well just to make things interesting wasn't a bright idea.
The San Andreas, Elsinore and San Jacinto faults all come together in the area and they discovered a new one some years ago due to the fact it triggered a quake, there might be more yet to find and everyone knows it. Good place for a plant.
Some of the critics do go overboard but questioning the big subsidies we give this stuff while we invest so little in alternatives does seem to be a valid issue, and in at least a few cases safety concerns seem valid as well. I hate to see serious issues oversimplified like this, just because there's a fringe that's easy to attack that doesn't mean there aren't real issues somewhere under there.
