Guy plays in the traffic and gets hit by a van.

brunopuntzjones says...

If anyone listened to Opie & Anthony today, they had this guy on their show.

Recap: Video was filmed over a year ago, just now got popular.

Guy's name is Ken and is a rapper. He was doing his "dance" for his new song, gipper (pronounced jip er, not like Reagan). He was dancing where he was could, wasn't any traffic in "his" lane. Then the truck came out of no where and hit him.

He said the truck driver wasn't paying attention. He broke some ribs and had a bruised lung. Driver nor he had insurance.

Guy never admitted any guilt, said it was all the drivers fault for not watching out for him. He never played the race card at least.

He goes by Optimo 55 Souf on youtube.

What dag heard when the iPad was announced

Sagemind says...

Funny! My 8 year old son's favorite group is KISS. He got the new album for Christmas, and while the new songs on the album are passable as music, They just don't have a push their older stuff did. I don't care if KISS are good musically, but they they did have some good tunes to rock out to.

As for Mac, I'm not sold on everything they produce, but I do use a "Duel-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro" at work running OS 10.4 and other than the impossible keyboard commands, It's a pretty good computer.

Put it this way, If I owned two cars, a Volkswagen Bug and a Porche, I wouldn't care which one I was driving, they would both get me from here to there, and that's all I ask!

TED 2009 - A Different Way To Think About Creative Genius

MaxWilder says...

I think there are some people here misinterpreting what she is saying.

Inspiration, or whatever you want to call the peak of the creative mind, is not under conscious control. A person can't just *decide* to write (or paint, or dance, or sculpt) their best piece ever on a particular day. She is saying that artists are going crazy trying to pin down something that cannot be held. However you want to make peace with that fact, with metaphors like external supernatural beings or whatever else may work for you, to continue being a mentally healthy person that peace must be made. This is not to say that the artist should actually believe in faeries or geniuses or muses in the literal sense, merely as a metaphor for the subconscious realm from which inspiration springs. One might even choose to simply address the subconscious mind directly. ("Ok, subconscious, today would be a really great day to write a new song!") The important part is acknowledging that it is not under direct control, and that we shouldn't think of uninspired work as failure. Merely as practice.

The best an artist can do consciously is lay the groundwork for that creative inspiration to appear, and translate from idea to some realized form. What she calls "showing up" is laying that groundwork. Training, introspection, research, anything else that you can *choose* to do in your chosen art will make it easier to act on inspiration. Since nothing can force it to happen, the artist must accept that their only true job is to prepare and encourage creativity, but never expect it or rely on it.

Amazing Tool to Improve Nickelback Songs (Blog Entry by dag)

Leonard Cohen - The Future

DrHGuy says...

This is a great performance. I do offer a couple of clarifications. Leonard Cohen was 74 at the time of this concert; he turned 75 Sept 21, 2009. You may also note that the lyrics shown are the original words During the World Tour, "Give me crack and anal sex" have been replaced by "Give me crack and careless sex." This shift is not new but has been invoked intermittently since the song was first released. Finally you might be interested in Cohen's latest songs. During the Leonard Cohen World Tour, 3 songs, Feels So Good (AKA The Other Blues Song), The Darkness, and Lullaby have been played for the 1st time, raising speculation they may be released on a new album. While each has been sung only a few times, multiple versions exist with different lyrics and arrangements. A summary of each song's performances and lyrics with videos and mp3s can be found at these posts:
“ Lullaby ”
“ The Darkness ”
“ Feels So Good ”

Belle & Sebastian "Piazza, New York Catcher"

paul4dirt says...

"Here's a little stop motion experiment I've been working on. It used to go with the Belle and Sebastian song "Piazza New York Catcher" but I got busted by the copyright police. The new song is called "Smile" by Artist 10 (I don't know if that's their real name)."

is the reason it got changed. i don't think this will be available anywhere else.

After two listens (this acoustic and the radio version) this could very well be my favorite new song. I love stuff like this. And it doesn't hurt that she's swearing and threatening violence/murder.

Watch live - national guard moving on protestors at RNC (Military Talk Post)

Crosswords says...

Well the Republicans certainly won't be out done by the democrats when it comes to suppressing protesters. It'd make them look weak on national security. (sarcasm for those who may not have picked up on it). As far as the national guard goes, foreshadowing a new song by Neil Young?

Ministry - Lieslieslies

Imagoamin says...

One of the handful of new songs I like.. This show was definitely the most insane I've been to. Someone got stabbed, I got in or in between 4 fights, some guy broke his ankle in front of me, and 2 guys pulled down the cage and tried to surf on top of it through the crowd.

You think Rock Band's drums are hard? Try DrumMania.

Alak says...

This just proves practice make perfect. I can play alot of songs on real drums without even remembering.Although Im not entirely good at drums, so it takes me along time to learn a new song. My brain just automatically does it. Which sucks when I play on a different kit, or my wife re-arranges stuff when Im not paying attention. I'll be in hardcore drummer mode and reach for a cymbal thats not there.

The key to drumming is counting on time and constant repetition.

Radiohead - Scotch Mist: a film with Radiohead in it (52:31)

legacy0100 says...

They're starting to get their old groove back, but still has that bad psychedelic shit.

They still need to work on the songs. I thought the vocal part lacked melodic variety. I think this is a painful repercussion from the KID A era (repeating words/melody over and over and over and over).

Still way too bland compared to The Bends / OK computer Era. I keep getting bored every time I listen to one of their new songs that's been made after OK computer.

And I can say this because I've been a Radiohead fan since middle school and bought the first 3 albums by saving up mah lunch money.

The Beatles - All You Need is Love

bobraingod says...

The broadcast was basically live with a little help. According to Mark Lewisohn's The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions, "...George Martin greatly decreased the chance of an on-air foul-up by having the Beatles play to their own pre-recorded rhythm track of take 10. Only the vocals, bass guitar, the lead guitar solo in the middle eight, drums and the orchestra were actually live." Hence the headphones.

Equally impressive was how fast they got the song done. The Beatles had agreed to perform a new song for an BBC international broadcast on May 22 and the actual performance took place about a month later on June 25; the Beatles didn't start working the song up as a group in the studio until June 14. The program was to be the first live broadcast across five continents and, to keep it accessible to all audiences, the BBC had requested that the Beatles keep the song simple. The international "snippets" were added for the occasion.

Lennon was apparently very nervous beforehand; the gum chewing was probably just a front to hide his anxiety. There was a whole slew of friends sitting around also: "Mick Jagger, Marianne Faithfull, Keith Richard, Keith Moon, Eric Clapton, Pattie Harrison, Jane Asher, Mike McCartney, Graham Nash and his wife, Gary Leeds and Hunter Davies" (Again, from Lewisohn). After the broadcast was over, the Beatles did a little bit of overdubbing (including some of Lennon's vocals) and the final mix was finished the next day. The single was out in stores on July 7, less than two weeks later.
