*live* Matthew Good- Born Losers- Fantastic song

BoneRemake says...

Well there ain't nothin' to this but your daughter
And the life you would not give her
Break your plans
Traipsed across the continent, a squatter
For your lies at night to sleep between my hands

When the lights come on this whole place gets ugly
But when they're out, strangers fall in love
She could never say that flat out she don't want me
'Cause I could never say that halfway ain't enough

New Order's on the turntable, we're dancing
'Cause what else do you do when you don't talk
Crucified then crawled into your mansion
Yeah, that's why I learned to crawl before I walk

We're back where we belong
Straight back where we belong
No days for nights [??]
No cocaine calls
Just back where we belong

Take me out back to your promise
And beat me until I can't even stand
Your whole life, a plane without no landing gear
So if this is it, then come on let me land

That trailer trash pedigree is callin'
It rides you out when you're down on all fours
Me I like to cast my death on yesterday
'Cause what doesn't kill us now
Just makes us better whores

We're back where we belong
Straight back where we belong
No days for nights [??]
No cocaine calls
Just back where we belong

Go put it in the ground
Go bury it somewhere it can't be found
Go put it in the ground

Well there ain't nothin' to this but your daughter
And the life you would not give her, break your plans
Traipsed across the continent, a squatter
For your lies at night to sleep between my hands

EVE Online - Dominion fleet battle trailer

GeeSussFreeK says...

This is a really good audio and fleet representation of what happens in the larger 0.0 battles. The new patch, ironically, is aimed at reducing these types of massive engagements to more hit and run kind of fights. The days of the mega alliances might be over and the rise of the static industrialist and the roving gang might be the new order of the day instead of the static super pvp power, and the opportunistic carebear.

Congressman Yells "Liar" At Obama During Health Care Speech

"... And it ought to be remembered that there is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things." -Niccolo Machiavelli, "The Prince"

What's your first memory of rock & roll? (Rocknroll Talk Post)

rougy says...

Beatles. They used to have a cartoon about them on Saturday mornings, right before or after Johnny Quest and King Kong.

In the late 70's, "arena band rock" finally got to the point where I couldn't stand it any more, and I remember hearing Talking Heads and a few others that were pushing the envelope.

Then I went to college in the 80's and U2, English Beat, New Order, Flock of Seagulls, etc. just stole my heart. Yazzoo, too.

I really can't listen to 70's rock any more for some weird reason.

Fox News Declares War on Canada

Memorare says...

The delusions of godhood have been going on for some 233 years now,
emblazoned on The Great Seal of the U.S.:

E pluribus unum "Out of Many, One"
Novus ordo seclorum "New Order of the Ages"
Annuit cœptis "He approves our undertakings"

That last "He" refers to God.

When will the rest of the world finally stand up to US tyranny.

How should promoted posts be displayed on the front page? (User Poll by dag)

EDD says...

I just wanted to say a very, very honest and genuine thank you to dag for this poll and to everybody who voted.

As some will remember I took a vehement stand against the then-new order; truth be told, it was to the point that I privately doubted I would ever make it to a Gold100 as the power to * promote had all but completely lost any appeal it had held in my eyes.

So again, thank you dag for reinvigorating my willingness to Sift and be a part of this great(-est?) web community

New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle

New Order Rules for those who havn't read them.
THE MESSAGE OF THE GEORGIA GUIDESTONES

1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
10.Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.

Limiting the population of the earth to 500 million will require the extermination of nine-tenths of the world's people. The American Stonehenge's reference to establishing a world court foreshadows the current move to create an International Criminal Court and a world government. The Guidestones' emphasis on preserving nature anticipates the environmental movement of the 1990s, and the reference to "seeking harmony with the infinite" reflects the current effort to replace Judeo-Christian beliefs with a new spirituality.

A better version of the Picard Song

This isn't the same one?

Similar, but no, different. The audio's a bit different, most clearly 90 second in. And there's different video clips too, including the amusing animated bit.

Oh man, then the new order-ish sound kicks in around 3:15

swampgirl you have no idea who this guy is, do you?
don't worry, i did the 30 seconds of wikipeding for you.

"He was a member of Fat Les, a band which also contained Britpop artists Damien Hirst and Blur bassist Alex James. Allen was also closely associated with the band New Order. He co-wrote their only UK number one single, World In Motion, and occasionally performed with them live."

"on the BBC's arts & culture programme The Late Show when Keith Allen as a guest on the show got into an extremely heated row with the panel over his view that comedy was now being hamstrung to appease rules of political correctness. Just before storming off the live broadcast, Allen - a veteran of the early 1980s wave of UK "alternative" comedians that had shocked many - had stormed at an Asian member of the panel that was for tighter controls that "It's not a chip you've got on your shoulder, it's a fucking vindaloo!" Allen later explained to press reporters that a vindaloo is as faux ethnic (this piece of Indian cuisine actually originated from Portugal) as those who masquerade as self-appointed spokespeople for ethnic minority communities' rights in order to censor arts and culture according to their own pet prejudices."

over your head, eh?

..something along the lines that we live in a world where digitalization of music is ubiquitous..and it is hard to make a romantic clip about "stealing" (are we?) mp3s..

What do you mean?

In reply to this comment by Eklek:
There was once a time when people loved the recording medium of music itself..
