I lived in the city for a brief time and it was amazing. every time I go back I feel nothing but extreme happiness.

Mine too. I used to live in the Napa Valley. It's only about an hour away from SF. I miss it.

Joe Pass - The Art of Guitar
I saw Joe Pass years ago at the Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley. My Dad thought I'd enjoy it, so he and I went together. He was right.

Grant Achatz - Another incredibly talented "science" chef
The french laundry is one of the most famous restaurants in north america. The chef, Thomas Kellar is the only american born chef to have 3 stars from le guide michelin, and he currently has a total of something like 8, which puts him in super-chef stratus. What's more, the cookbooks for The French Laundry and Bouchon, his Bistro in Napa, are absolutely gorgeous, and widely distributed and extremely popular in the cooking world. Also, a full third of Michael Ruhlman's book "The Soul of A Chef" is devoted to the French Laundry.

I used to live in Napa and have been to the French Laundry many years ago. How do you know about it? Very cool.

Godfather of Acoustic Tap - Michael Hedges
From Wikipedia:
“There is nobody on God’s green earth that plays the guitar like Michael Hedges.” - Steve Vai
“Before Michael, acoustic guitar went from about right there to over here somewhere. After Michael, it goes from near the rest of us, where he found it, to out the other side of the world where he set it down for just a little while.” - David Crosby
“Michael Hedges is the guitarist from another planet.” - William Ackerman
"In Michael's hands, a guitar was a living, breathing extension of his deepest parts. It's almost as if he got so inside its body that the instrument was reborn. His passion for creating those exquisite melodies and technique was as focused as it was abandoned. There was simply no one like him." - Bonnie Raitt

Sadly, Hedges was killed in a car accident in 1997. If you want to know who influenced Eric Mongraine (and countless others) here he is.
I had the pleasure of seeing him perform in the Napa Valley several years before his death and I must say this brought back many memories.
