Sesame Street: Joan Ganz Cooney Tribute
It also taught us to not have an attention span of no more than a few minutes - then Much Music come in and finished the job.
The other thing I noticed is that, what was purely meant to be a learning tool, Sesame Street has become a monolith of marketing mayhem. Today, it's just a money maker, less about teaching and more about marketing it's wears to children.
Michael Ironside on The Hour
Strombo is definitely one of the best interviewers on the planet right now. If you haven't seen it already, I would recommend you watch his interview with Bono. Bono ends up telling him, "George, I'm a fan."
I first heard him on The Lizard, a radio station in Kelowna, BC, but became a big fan once he moved to Much Music and he just keeps getting better.>> ^notarobot:
George Strombolopolous has done a lot of wonderful interviews. I still remember him on Much Music. 1sttube

Where does this show air? I've never seen it before--I like it.
[Edit] I guess I should watch the whole thing before asking questions about it. So this is on CBC?

Charlie Chaplin's Great Dictator speech + I N C E P T I O N
It's amazing how much music scores help enhance the emotion of moment - something really that has only been harnessed by composers within the last twenty years with beautiful intentionality.
I've always wondered what it would be like to transpose modern scores on to pivotal moments in classic movies to see if it would help enhance those moments and, for this, it certainly does.
Strombo Talks Metered Internet
Not to keen on calling him Strombo...
I used to watch him on Much music, he has grown in ten years. Bill walichka or whatnot, thats one Vjay you dont hear from anymore.
Matthew Good Band- Everything is automatic
@BoneRemake, @kronosposeidon,
Much Music was great in the 90's.

It's definitely not their best work, but I only discovered it last night after some heavy smoking and a few drinks. It has sentimental value to me.
Apparently RHCP wrote the song after conducting a private concert with some other heavyweights (Metallica and a few others) up in Resolute Bay, Nunavut back in 1992. A few people I knew bought tickets and attended.
Some of the lyrics are very poignant - "Desperate and it shows". My home is rife with poverty, alcoholism, etc. At this point I'm rambling so I'll stop. I understand where you're coming from on the screen shot.

Dunno man, I have never been able to justify a song with a screen shot-SO much music I'd love to publish that has no video content-OK...Her's an unsolicited review of the song-Non-sequitur cliche, simple, unappealing melody, whiny delivery. RHCP's have done much better-they lost their steam after Californication-Time for the boys to retire to their life of tours, live shows, and playing the hits over and over to less-than-packed crowds of 30-somethings.....The Foghat syndrome.

Van Doos patrol an Afghan village
>> ^Enzoblue:
Few realize that Afghanistan is near a paradise, very beautiful country. I remember travel author Bruce Chatwin raving about it. I hope they stumble into some semblance of peace - at least long enough so I can visit there before I get too old because I really want to.
3/4 of the beauty of this piece is the fact that no music is being rammed down your throat. Makes you feel like you're there and I wish more vid makers didn't feel the need to "enhance", (read: "Mask"), their work with so much music.
Also, at 2:55 isn't that a girl soldier?
I can imagine that Afghanistan is very beautiful. Some of my friends said they've seen beauty there with their own eyes, having gone over and come back.
The woman at 2:55 looks like a medic to me, although that's partly a hunch based on her backpack. 2:26 / 3:57's a woman too and so does 1:08 appear to be (hair's in a bun, looks like). Women in the Canadian Forces can be in any trade, including the combat arms, and I have a few women friends who've done tours there, most of them as infantry, i.e., foot soldiers.

Tucker Carlson Calls Canadians Retarded
I was expecting worse from Tucker! But he was civil and reasonable enough, despite some of the blatant generalizations he made. He *did* make a few good points, too, and I was glad to see that this wasn't really a heated debate of any sort between the two of them. Strombololopopopolous has come a long way.. I used to see him on Much Music, he was a bit goofier back then.
The Arcade Fire - Rebellion (Lies) at the Much Music Awards
>> ^ex-jedi:
I'm a huge fan of these, despite the fact that Win has the cold dead eyes of a killer.
That's EXACTLY why I love these.

The Arcade Fire are effin' great. Radiohead's performance at The Grammy's didn't do it for me.
Yeah, I hate to be a snob to the nth degree, but Radiohead just does nothing for me now.
