Why You Should ALWAYS Kill Spiders With Fire
You cant do that. The babies just run off when you try to mover it. Any perceived threat and they f'ing scatter. I hate it when wolf spiders get in the house like this. You basically just have to spray them.
Totally unnecessary....just put the spider outside ffs.
Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Wage Gap
That is quoted once in the whole clip. The number has hovered between $0.70-$0.85 for the last few decades that the issue has been talked about openly.
Where do you get the impression that Oliver is arguing about equal pay for dissimilar jobs at any point in the entire segment? I do not see that at any point. If that were true, obviously that would be ridiculous. The goal here is equality, not up-ending the whole system of employment.
Lastly, as it's said plainly in the first few minutes of the clip: "Equal pay for equal work". There are two points I would like to make here:
1) that's clearly not an argument for inequality in favor of work compensation for women over men, and
2) If we *really* wanted to pay people equally for their work, mexican migrants who pick our vegetables every season, movers, factory-workers, carpenters and any other manual-labor jobs would be living the highlife in their gated communities with million-dollar homes, and most CEO's, wallstreet bankers, and office joe's would be scraping by in the 'burbs.
That's wrong. Women doing similar jobs to men make 96 cents on the dollar
(still bad). But Oliver is arguing that men and women doing dissimilar jobs should make the same amount.
Glove and Boots Test the Slap Chop and ShamWow
A shamwow is nothing more than a mover's blanket cut into 30cm-square pieces.
Japanese Movers Have Been Rigorously Trained
Typically you pay a mover because they're insured and the liability of breaking stuff and ruining buildings, walkways etc is moved from your hands.
Also unless you move very often, avoiding a small cost for the ensured safety of your back frankly seems like a ridiculous gamble. You can have serious injuries even with little weight and a lot of muscle, the wrong twist and it's over.
But, to each his own.
I have never paid a mover, because moving the heavy stuff is the easy part. Packing and unpacking is the part I hate.
I'd totally pay a mover if they did all of this.

Japanese Movers Have Been Rigorously Trained
Jesus Christ! I hired American movers once. First, they extorted me for extra insurance by the "We're not responsible for shit we break" line, then half my stuff went missing and finally, after they were paid, they kicked me in the balls and ran off laughing. I'll betcha if I'd hired those guys, they probably only woulda chortled!

Um, this is the part YOU'RE supposed to do yourself, isn't it? I thought movers removed the necessity for constantly, back breaking heavy lifting. There's catharsis in taking stock of your possessions.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
fantastic. Here in Australia I had to follow the movers with a round of touch up paint to fix what they removed from the walls.

When I was in Korea my family hired a moving company, and I got to witness this fine art in person. These guys are no joke. They are seriously skilled in their craft. And YES, they have redefined packing and moving into mater craft.
But for all the work they do and hours of training they've put in, they aren't paid nearly as enough as they should. It's like watching a City bus driver weaving the big bulky bus through jammed traffic and tight corners with finesse and precision, yet at the end of the day it's just another day at work for him.
Also keep in mind that in Asia there is no tipping culture, so they don't make any more money than their fixed pay. In Korean society it is in our tradition to serve the movers with a meal and a few beverages, but that's as far as getting anything extra from their job.
I have huge respects for what these guys do in Asia and I hope they get all the attention and the recognition they deserve.
