VideoSift v6 (VS6) Beta Front Page (Sift Talk Post)
Usually when I submit a video, I go back to the YouTube page it came from to copy/paste the title/description or watch it again and get some detail for the tags/description/channels.
With this new mouseover menu thing, every time I come back to the page, the Submit Video window has disappeared. It's a wee bit annoying to have to scroll through that menu again. More annoying is when I have multiple VS windows open and I have to scroll through the menu on each one to the Submit Video tab to find the one I've already going. Most annoying is when part way through a submission my mouse happens to pass over one of the other items in the Watch menu, and my whole submission content gets erased. GRRRR!!
It'd be better either if that window -- and perhaps any window with a form -- could stay open while there's any user input on it and didn't get wiped out when the user mouseovers another menu item, or if we went back to having a normal dedicated full-screen non-hair-trigger-disappearing submissions page.
It feels like stepping through a glass menagerie to use that form.

One of the first things I do whenever I set up a clean install of Windows is to set the default view for every folder to "details".
A single column of content allows me to cycle the content through my stationary point of focus. I can stare at a fixed spot and just let my free-scroll mouse wheel do the work. Which is simply great for quickly browsing for interesting content.
Multiple columns of content, however, force me to scan by constantly changing my point of focus. The new design does precisely that, it makes me devote much more time to every single entry unless I reduce the tab's width to intentionally force the layout to organise its content in a single column.
But it's the same issue for almost every news site out there, so I guess I'm just too old for this shit. /rant
World's First $9 Computer
Education for someone in a third world country isn't necessarily re-writing the assembly code. It is just enjoying using the computer. Learning to type. Learning how a mouse works. Making something beautiful. Writing a paper for school. From there, curiosity and fun will do the rest.
World's First $9 Computer
It looks like the Beagleboard Black has similar specs. But it's $55. That's more than a few dollars difference.
I'm thinking if you can get a Linux distro with a GUI, a word program, a MS Paint type program, and support for a USB hub, you can turn it into a full fleged computer experience for $9 (+cost of USB Hub-$7, USB keyboard-$7, & USB mouse-$7). Assuming the user already has a composite capable TV. Oh, and you'd need a video adapter. Haven't priced those yet.
Anything keeping that from happening?
The Backwards Brain Bicycle
This reminded me of this girl at work that uses a mouse turned around backwards, where the cord is facing her belly. Every movement is reversed compared to how the rest of us move a mouse. Weirdest thing I've seen. Give it a shot yourself, although it's not near as difficult as riding this bike.

Congratulations! Your comment on Child-Sized Mouse Trap has just received enough votes from the community to earn you 1 Power Point. Thank you for your quality contribution to VideoSift.
This achievement has earned you your "Silver Tongue" Level 3 Badge!
Ice Skating With Chainsaw
Fun? Yeah.
Danger mouse? Yeah!
Efficient? Not so sure about that one.
Mouse & Mountain Dew Experiment
So interesting that I cannot help but hold the breath in my nose so as not to smell what I imagine the stink to be of that gelatinous mess.
Now is that the same result you could expect from a dead mouse just being in liquid and not specifically Mtn. Dew? I imagine that'd be the case.
Pretty bad video composition with a horribly long intro, but the payoff was interesting.
Btw, @haki, you know you can vote for your own videos, right?

On the top header where it says your sift name. Put your mouse on your name and a drop down menu will reveal itself. You can edit there. If you need more help let me know
Also at the bottom of the page you can opt out of the new design
Trying to fix it; found a mirror, but oddly, I can't figure out, in the new pages, how to edit my link for the vid.
Sigh.
President Obama Reads Mean Tweets
There is absolutely no point... was a mistake to even attempt to have a rational conversation. I'd get less bias and ignorance trying to debate my mouse... very much my mistake.

If you mouse over your name on the header bar (vs6) it will drop down an edit your video button.

Just ran into problem trying to fix dead video - Since there is still no "Edit" button that I can find, the workaround is to go to new VS6 view, then Videos, then My Videos. This will take you to a (v5) page of the videos you posted, and each of those has a link for "Edit this video" or "Fix embed link" (in my case of dead video).

Hi Laurence- Thanks for reporting. I'll see what I can do about holding the box open mousing to a right-click menu. Good catch.
Regarding the window expanding into the wrong window, that's a function of your computer/browser and not the website. There is some kind of logic the OS uses to decide which window to expand into. I don't know what it is, but my screen is expanded as well and from time to time it'll go fullscreen into the wrong window, but it's usually a pretty infrequent thing.
Thanks!
a couple of quirks I've just found with the new permalink page ...
when searching for something (hover over watch, hover over search, wait for advanced search window to open), if I want to paste using mouse commands, I right click to open the mouse menu, but then when I move down to select "paste" the search window disappears.
secondly, if I have a permalink page open in a browser window on my second monitor (extended desktop), if while playing the video I click the icon to make it full screen, it opens on my primary monitor, not my second one.

If you hover your mouse over the # of votes you will see who voted for the video.
I'd like to see the list of who voted for a video.

Hi @MilkmanDan, Get voters for the video by hovering your mouse over the number (desktop version) or clicking (mobile version).

I tried to figure out where to see "who voted for this video", currently under the comment entry box. I can't find that information in beta UI. I must admit that the current location isn't particularly logical, but I know to look for it there and I can't find it at all in the beta.
