CNN Meteorologist: Accepting Global Warming is Arrogant

Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) is a theory (hypothesis). It is an unproven theory. What you do with theories is put them to the test with scientific observations.

Rambling nonsense, in science there is no such term as "unproven theory" A theory is a construct and means to explain the available facts

Correctamundo. Is anyone seeing a distinct "intelligent design" element hovering around this thread?

>> ^quantumushroom:
You (QM) lie on a routine basis.
Yeah, lying with the truth, supported by facts and logic.
You represent all that is filthy, lazy, and ugly in mankind.
But only compared to the socialist utopia dreamed up by frauds, thieves and charlatans. And of the three adjectives above, I'll agree with 'lazy' but that's it.
Thousands of years ago, the shaman stood on a little dirt mound, waved a bone and proclaimed the tribe was in danger of being killed by evil spirits; therefore give the shaman a portion of your harvest and he'll save you.
Thirty years ago, some poindexters in white labcoats stood at a podium with fraudulent computer models, trying to frighten people into believing the world would be destroyed by WARM WEATHER; therefore shut down all progress and give us half your income in taxes and we will save you.
There is no scientific evidence for man-made global warming, only govt-sponsored scientists trying to lick the hand that feeds them (with OUR tax dollars).
When it comes to the man-made global warming religion, I'm an atheist.

And also, when did those scientists start demanding money? They're just providing their opinion on the research they've conducted. If you think they're trying to scam money out of us by making us use cleaner more efficient and safer equipment WHICH THEY INVENTED!!!!!11oneoneone, then please re-read this sentence. Where the fuck is the HARM in using cleaner more efficient and safer equipment?

If they're right, and we change how we live to be cleaner and safer, we win.
If they're wrong, and we change how we live to be cleaner and safer, we didn't lose.

^And this coming from a guy who calls himself religious?^

"and when these dopes start really FUBAR-ing everything I'll be here to point out your FOLLY.^

^Will you make that shit up too? Cause I can just use your old defense: whatever happens during this administration was the last guys fault because the decisions a president makes have sweeping, long-term consequences. Uh, unless it was something good that happened, in which case this rule doesn't apply.^

Bush On Al Qaeda Not In Iraq Before Invasion: "So What?"

bcglorf says...

>> ^rougy:
It's bullshit saying that the world is better off without Saddam.
Total fucking bullshit.
He was a paper tiger by the time we invaded, and his crimes pale in comparison to what Bushco has done to that country.
You're an apologist.
You will always sugar coat our invasion to suit your contrived conclusions.

Then I must be ignorant of the crimes that Bushco has done that make the following crimes described by Human Rights Watch pale by comparison:

With only minor variations ... the standard pattern for sorting new arrivals [at Topzawa was as follows]. Men and women were segregated on the spot as soon as the trucks had rolled to a halt in the base's large central courtyard or parade ground. The process was brutal ... A little later, the men were further divided by age, small children were kept with their mothers, and the elderly and infirm were shunted off to separate quarters. Men and teenage boys considered to be of an age to use a weapon were herded together. Roughly speaking, this meant males of between fifteen and fifty, but there was no rigorous check of identity documents, and strict chronological age seems to have been less of a criterion than size and appearance. A strapping twelve-year-old might fail to make the cut; an undersized sixteen-year-old might be told to remain with his female relatives. ... It was then time to process the younger males. They were split into smaller groups. ... Once duly registered, the prisoners were hustled into large rooms, or halls, each filled with the residents of a single area. ... Although the conditions at Topzawa were appalling for everyone, the most grossly overcrowded quarter seem to have been those where the male detainees were held. ... For the men, beatings were routine.

After a few days in the camp, without a single known exception, the men were sent out and executed:

Some groups of prisoners were lined up, shot from the front, and dragged into predug mass graves; others were made to lie down in pairs, sardine-style, next to mounds of fresh corpses, before being killed; still others were tied together, made to stand on the lip of the pit, and shot in the back so that they would fall forward into it -- a method that was presumably more efficient from the point of view of the killers. Bulldozers then pushed earth or sand loosely over the heaps of corpses. Some of the grave sites contained dozens of separate pits and obviously contained the bodies of millions of victims. (Iraq's Crime of Genocide, p. 12.)

If you'd like to enlighten me on what exactly it is Bush has done since the invasion that matches that please tell me, I'd hate to be defending something that horrific.

I don't think this guy cares for god

Bah, it looks all beautiful until you get there and encounter the local skeevy tourist traps littered everywhere and moon size mounds of trash. If it weren't for those holographic clouds hiding the mess nobody would go near that place.

American Ninja 2-- with Michael Dudikoff!

littledragon_79 says...

Don't sell it short man, these were awesome to a 7 year old in the 80's. Ninja training academies with color coded outfits, ninja ladders, some stunt guy that dove out of a moving truck & smacked his head into a rock/mound, etc.

Thanks for the advice. We didn't have quite enough time to make it to Devil's Tower, which is too bad since Close Encounters is one of my favorite films.

I only ever went once, back in 1990? 91, maybe? Anyways, if you take Rt 14 up from I-90, you'll actually go by the dirt mound where they did the infamous crane shot. You know, Roy slams on his brakes and they both get out of the car and climb that little hill. I was actually driving with my mom at the time and did the same thing (ie. the slamming on of the brakes) Scare the crap out of her! Anyways, if you ever get the chance, very cool to go see. Also, you could hit Meteor Crater in Winslow, AZ if you haven't. Also, very impressive.

UCI Gets Away with a Faulty Hidden Ball Trick Against LSU

NordlichReiter says...

After playing 8 years of baseball all the way to senior level in high school, I have some experience with this.. indeed it got me once in an exhibition game. This is a judgment call, and the umpire cannot take it back. Once the inning changes and people go into the dugout its over you cant take it back.

In this case the umpire was wrong. Every one except the pitcher is allowed to deceive a runner. If you are pitcher and its a tight game do not risk the balk. Which means ball + walk, the batter get a ball and the runner can walk to another base.

Another thing any hidden ball trick involving the pitcher is immediately illegal. The pitcher cannot, ever attempt to deceive the runners. We call this a balk, which does not need the pitcher engaged to the mound.

Trick plays happen all the time (Center sneak - football, Fake field goals, and the pitcher changing the pitch mid wind up: that used to piss me off as a catcher. Me and the pitcher would have a long angry discussion.) its not a trick its misdirection, you better be on your toes or it will get you.

Mike Huckabee Denies Evolution

9058 says...

Though i totally disagree with people who think evolution is made up when there mounds of evidence otherwise and the fact that i dont like huckabee at all i still do see his point. Faith is always a question that arises, like the Kennedy video that was sifted a short time ago is it possible to seperate your beliefs to the way you lead? Its a tricky situation, being catholic didnt seem to run Kennedy's leadership completley. I think he dodged it the only way thats acceptable by saying "i dont know". Maher is (like he usually does) drawing a huge generalization that ones rational in this one subject puts their entire rational state into question, which isnt always true. Though Huckabee is doing the same thing by saying it has no bearing what so ever and shouldnt even be asked which also isnt always true

Another spectacular vid. Superb. Neat to see an appearance of the leaf (or a reasonable facsimile) from your first backyard feature film.

Now what was that big slimey mound the slug was creeping over in scene 4?

Can't wait to see what you come up with next.

Choggie's Roast Thread (Parody Talk Post)

and zifnab.....I was worried I would have no dirt on you, and low-and-behold, the story of your parents attempt, to erase their genetic contribution to the planet entirely, by running naked into BC, away from "civilization", if you can call Canada in the sixties and seventies that....I can see you running around the living room (school bus), with your tally-whacker swinging back and forth, like a flesh-sickle pendulum, in front of a ripe plum. It is refreshing to know, that you had a solid reason for dropping out of school. The Internet. Now that you have a premier, tenured, chair-shaping position at university (hoser think-tank) the future is no doubt brighter, for your own kid, zinfab jr.

So dotdude......did this thing shape up like it should have?? Of course, ya performed lie a true coonass, tripping over craw-dad mounds to run away, as soon as the waterfront changed......Folk art is a big deal in LA, and galleries like the laundry mat , the dockside bar, and the bait shop, are all splattered with the, "thousand points of smudge", finger-paintings, DD has to offer, those true seekers, of the gifted and talented color, in the land of hand-made dikes,
drive-through likker stores, and Chocolate City Mayors. Any deceased family members returning with the spring floods next year????
