600lbs Sumo fighter Vs a 169lbs MMA Fighter

"This is like Jaws" LOL. Not a real sumo wrestler IMHO.
Yarborough did actually compete in amateur sumo before going on to get his ass handed to him in UFC 3.
Some of us also remember him as @karaidl's avatar.
MMA: All Nut-shot Edition
I fucking love Kenny Florian. He's got his hands full in his next fight but I hope he pulls it off.
For those that don't know, Kenny and Cavalcante are both real MMA fighters and I'm pretty sure "Larry Gordon" is Brad Tate, a paramedic who became (in)famous on TUF12.
Crazy cool dance / movement in a Japanese music video
The Group is called World Order, and Genki Sudo is just a member of it.... He's a retired MMA fighter still very cool
UFC 116: Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin
Boxing just never made as much sense to me as MMA. Boxing just feels so limited in comparison, no grappling, no submissions. Sure an MMA fighter wouldnt stand a chance going up against a boxer if he had to use boxing rules, but it doesnt make sense to limit yourself to only one way of defeating your oponent when it comes to fighting. If you have trouble seeing my point, imagine a new form of boxing where you could only use one arm and had to keep the other one on your back. How much sense would that make?
Now there are rules and limits to what you can do in MMA, but I imagine they evolved to make sure fighters spent less time in hospitals and more time on the screen making money for people like Dana White.

You show me a MMA fighter that can do this:
You don't watch much MMA do you? Watch Anderson Silva vs Rich Franklin 2 or Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin.
Also, MMA would be much much more effective in a street fight than boxing, because it encompasses a much larger subset of what can happen in a street fight. Brazilian Jiujitsu, not sport Brazilian Jiujitsu (there's a big difference) was designed for self defense.
Here, I found some clips for you:

You show me a fighter that can do it all I'll show you a perfect unarmed warrior. Too often MMA is a series quick brawls. Too often boxing is a long drawn out tit for tat fight.
They are both just another spectacle to keep people amused. As to which one is better in a street fight? Real combat has no rules, and that's why gunpowder caught on.

Female MMA Fighter Chokes Out Reporter
>> ^xxovercastxx:
My understanding is that the blood choke is banned in UFC because it's "dangerous", but I think it's really banned because it's just too fast.
Chokes in MMA are strangulation chokes which may compromise the airway, but are mostly compression of the carotid arteries and jugular veins. Much more force is required to compress the trachea, than is required to impede blood flow.
Police are not allowed to use them, because if applied for too long they can cause death and cops like to get creative and stick things like batons and nightsticks in there which can crush the windpipe or break the hyoid bone.
In MMA chokes that involve the blood vessels of the neck are perfectly safe as long as the ref and medical staff are able to respond after loss of consciousness.
BTW, one could conceivably train anyone to choke out a reporter with a rear naked if they don't think it's coming.

IIRC, in a fairly large portion of the population, pinching off the veins/arteries in the neck can sometimes cause the vessels to "stick" closed, causing death/stroke/brain damage. It is very dangerous.

Mike Tyson's 10 Best 1-Punch KOs
>> ^mentality:
^kagenin:
Its worth noting that in nearly every street fight Mike Tyson has been in, he has broken his hands or wrists.
The bones in your hands are quite small and fragile. That's why hand wrapping is so essential in all combat sports. With amount of force Tyson puts behind his punches, anyone will break their hand.
Oh, on this I do agree, however, most Karate-ka and Kung-fu practitioners are taught ways to throw punches that are both safe (in that they minimize potential damage to those fragile bones), but also deliver a strong amount of force. We've seen Bruce Lee's 1-inch-punch, derived from Wing Chun Kung-fu. We've seen Elvis drop people with Ed Parker's American Kempo Karate. UFC MMA fighters don't usually use as much wrap as boxers (granted, most don't use traditional boxing gloves - most prefer open-fingered Kempo-style gloves).
To me, this speaks to how unrefined Tyson's technique has always been. He may hit like a freight train, but if you can survive one or two hits, or even better, get him to miss and hit a sturdy object instead, like a wall, it wouldn't matter how hard he hits. Outside of the ring is a very different situation than the structured rules of boxing.
I've always wondered how Tyson would hold up in an octagon. I doubt he'd last long against a fighter with a more varied, well-rounded skill set.
Of course, finding someone who fits that description, and yet is still dumb enough to step into the ring with him would probably be impossible
The One Percent - Full Documentary
If I were part of the one percent, I would do things like produce movies and video games, sponsor MMA fighters and comedians, and/or melt the icy shores of Antarctica to free the eldritch gods I serve.
