I would think that many carjackers would do something similar - going from carthief to kidnapper or murderer is a big, big step. Thieves usually do it for easy money, extortion is hard money, murder is no money.

I read somewhere, where a university professor got his laptop stolen, the thief returned his files and data on a usb stick in the profs mailbox (but kept the laptop). Saved him a hell of a lot of work having to recreate it, and insurance pays for the laptop anyway, so that was a much smaller hassle. The point is criminals are still people, but usually desperate or weak-willed.

>> ^EMPIRE:

Couple of weeks ago, something similar happened here, except the robber had some sense of decency, and the mother was the idiot.
So this woman stops her car in front of the building she lives in, and leaves the car open, with the key in the ignition, and a 6 or 7 year old child and a toddler inside the car, to go up to the apartment and pick up some stuff.
Some guy comes along and steals the car, with both children still inside.
A few miles away, he stops in front of a pharmacy, and tells the older kid to take his sibling inside because their aunt is supposedly waiting for them inside.
The pharmacist obviously didn't knew who they were, so he took them to a police station.

Eminent domain is a back burner issue.

Obsama's thugverment is full speed ahead in other ways.

The Supreme Dolts' failure to review the Chrysler deal allows unsecured creditors (union) to be placed ahead of secured creditors. This is a clear violation of contract law and the bankruptcy laws, and our basic right to property.

If you bought/had Chrysler bonds you are screwed, and any property YOU own can now be seized since the law of contracts has been broken and the sheeple follow the pied piper into tyranny.

The arbitrary and secretive closing of car dealerships is appalling. Contract law means nothing to these tyrants. One dealer in Minn has
been in bus for 90 years and is very profitable. The tyrants are forcing them out of business, they will lose all they have invested.

Would you like that???

The tyrants won't answer the dealerships' question: why us??

If we do not wake up the question becomes: when will the tyrants come for your business/property on some flimsy pretext?

The goal of the tyrants in power is to nationalize private enterprise (like Argentina) and control the means of production.

Either Obamarx goes, or freedom goes.

Hey,

This is the source, but it's not much of one.

I distinctly remember reading, from a more credible source (CNN, WP, etc.) that Cheney had threatened Wellstone and also said something along the lines of "We'll take you out" but, I'm sorry, I couldn't find one of those sources.

If I tried harder I think I could, but I'm not in the mood tonight.

See ya 'round!

Did Cheney have Paul Weller whacked?

That was another cover-up bullshit investigation of a very convenient death.

"At a meeting full of war veterans in Willmar, Minn., days before his death, Wellstone told attendees that Cheney told him, "If you vote against the war in Iraq, the Bush administration will do whatever is necessary to get you. There will be severe ramifications for you and the state of Minnesota."

Police arrest Amy Goodman at RNC (what police state)

SDGundamX says...

As a direct rebuttal to the off-the-wall (and off-the-deep-end) comments being posted, I direct you to joedirt's other post here: http://www.videosift.com/video/Video-from-Peace-March-in-Minn-RNC-Convention which clearly shows we do not live in a fascist police state and that freedom of speech is alive and well.

Please check your facts: she was not charged with inciting a riot. She was charged with interfering with an arrest. Off-camera, two producers were being arrested (they were subsequently the ones who received the felony riot charges)and she tried to break through the cops to get to them. http://www.minnpost.com/stories/2008/09/02/3295/amy_goodmans_arrest_when_journalists_are_the_story

What does how famous she is have to do with anything? She tried to walk through a police line while they were making an arrest. They asked her kindly to get back on the sidewalk. She ignored them. So they gently but forcefully moved her back to the sidewalk. What does she do? She turns right around and tries to charge right back through them. She ignored the officers' warnings, tried to interfere with the arrest, and deserved what she got.

Look, if this were a real fascist police state, guess what? There wouldn't even be a video of this. The cops would have whisked her away, confiscated the camera and the video, and no one would know this even happened and probably would never hear from her again. People who are claiming the U.S. is a police state or fascist nation need to go spend some time in North Korea and learn what a real police state looks like.

IRS and Federal Reserve are illegal - Aaron Russo interview

10306 says...

This guy named Michael Minns debated the IRS on MSNBC way back in lke '01 before anybody else seems to have. Someone posted the video on youtube. He's an attorney who has beaten the IRS. He says that the tax system is unfairly geared to punishing the victims of illegal tax shelters, and not toward punishing the supposedly illegal tax shelter providers. The entire vid is posted on Google Videos, while Youtube seems to only have highlights. Michael Minns' books are coauthored by Ron Paul.

Legendary Jazz dancers Al and Leon kickin' it to DJ Z-trip

From the link: "See the difference with this video which features legendary African American jazz dancers, Al Minns and Leon James, dancing swing for the amusement of observing white people in a time when racism was not as openly questioned. The new choice in music totally changes the meaning: they now look like they are dancing for their own enjoyment. It also, coincidently, makes it more fun to watch."

Dancing the Charleston to Daft Punk

oohahh says...

That's Al Minns and Leon James.

One reason it syncs up is that swing jazz and electronica are both 4/4 time music. Same time signature, same bars to the phrase; same lots of things.

One reason it doesn't quite sync is that sometimes Charleston phrases start on the 1 (as in 1, 3, 5, 7) and sometimes they - like tap - start on the 8. Watch the Precision Charleston routine that starts around -0:43. I learned that routine a year or two ago and - well, I'm a little fuzzy now - but I think we danced it on 8.

Anyway, the music and dancing is a little off, but it's pretty dang tight considering the video clip is 50-60 years old.

Hellzapoppin' lindy hop

oohahh says...

Youtube comments:

From Hellzapoppin' (1941), the hilarious Hollywood production directed by H.C. Pootter and starring zany commdians Ole Olsen and Chic Johnson, this clip features Rex Stewart (co), Jap Jones (tb), Elemer Fane (cl), unknown (ts), Slim Galliard (p,g,tap-dancing), Slam Stewart (b), Cee Pee Johnson (d), The Harlem Congaroos (dancers, AKA Whitey's Lindyhoppers).

http://www.savoystyle.com/hellzapoppin.html
"This movie, based on a hit Broadway play, showcases Whitey's Lindy Hoppers dancing the most famous and most spectacular Lindy Hop scene ever preserved on film. The dancing was choreographed by Frankie Manning.

"The scene starts when musicians Slim Galliard and Slam Stewart, in workmen's garb, discover some musical instruments while supposedly delivering a package backstage. They play a few tentative notes, and a spontaneous, swinging jam starts cooking . More backstage 'workers' join the jam, including Rex Stuart on trumpet and C.C. Johnson on the 'bongo drums'. The music builds in excitement until, as if out of nowhere, four Lindy Hopping couples, dressed in overalls and uniforms, swing out into the cameras at a frenetic tempo. Each couple executes amazing acrobatic shines. Then the group unites for precision ensemble work filmed at an angle that emphasizes legwork and speed.

"The choreography and the dancing are as near to perfect Lindy Hop as you can see anywhere! The scene will take your breath away no matter how many times you see it. It is no wonder that this film was responsible for the simultaneous revival of Lindy Hop in Sweden and Britain in the 1980's.

"An interesting sidenote: Whitey's Lindy Hoppers' routine in Hellzapoppin' was originally danced and choreographed to different music, namely 'Jumping at the Woodside'. Universal Studios had a composer who was on staff write new music for the routine."
