Wow. MAGA is going down HARD.
Another Republican, Congressman Mike Gallagher announced he will resign from Congress on April 19th, screwing his party over and leaving them with a mere one-seat majority without the ability to fill his empty seat until the general election in November.
This on the day Ken Buck left in disgust and outrage over the horrific state of the MAGA party.
Also on the day of another MAGA call to replace the MAGA speaker of the house, throwing the entire house in complete disarray with childish infighting paralyzing the majority because some of them are outraged the majority leader actually led and got a minimal short term spending bill passed…the absolute bare minimum he could do as speaker.
There’s a actual good chance Jeffries could be nominated and voted in as speaker despite being in the minority. 😂

Who’s next? The next one out gets a free hat!

President Biden Delivers Remarks

newtboy says...

Yes, that kind of clearance, Mr Know Nothing. He had clearance to have every document in his personal possession when he received them, unlike Trump who illegally and secretly stole them from secured facilities. His mistake was trusting his staff to properly forward them to the archives when they packed his senate, and later VP offices.

No, ex senators and ex presidents both don’t have clearance to KEEP classified documents, correct. Trump did not ever have clearance to remove nuclear secrets and other highly classified material from a SCIF, not as president and not after, and it endangers the nation that he did so. It requires written declassification by the DOE, the president cannot declassify nuclear secrets under any circumstances.

The DOJ report indicated Biden did not know his staff had stored a few (6) unlabeled low level classified documents at his secure locked think tank office and personal handwritten notes at his guarded and locked home library (namely a few daily briefs on Afghanistan and some handwritten notes he had made, nothing at all designated top secret), indicated he himself (or attorneys at his instruction) looked for them and immediately reported finding them to the FBI, and allowed them to search that and other properties without requiring a warrant.
The DOJ report also indicated Trump DID know he was illegally taking and retaining highest sensitivity most stringently classified top secret documents by the truckload, not just a small part of one box, refused to return them when asked by the archives, lied about having any, required a warrant for a search, actively hid them when searched, lied again about having MORE, lied about showing them to multiple other parties including foreign agents but was caught red handed on tape, claimed personal ownership (of nuclear secrets), kept them unsecured in public areas, tried to destroy video evidence, claimed they were planted, obstructed Justice multiple times…
…must I go on for you to see the difference, or comprehend why one faces no charge and the other treason?
I’m certain the answer is yes, you haven’t heard enough to admit the situations are completely different despite the fact that one is staff improperly packing up his office when he left it, the other one individual intentionally stealing hundreds of state secrets for personal gain at the nation’s expense…you can never hear enough evidence to admit that.

Is Maddow still on? Sorry Charlie, like I’ve told you a hundred times but you can never recall, I’ve never watched CNN beyond short YouTube clips, not before they went right wing certainly not since. In fact, I think it’s likely that you watch more CNN than I do, you sure like to post and quote them now. If she’s still on and is saying the same things I’m not surprised, she was a smart wonky cookie last I saw.
It’s hilarious when you don’t know my sources, because when you can’t try to impugn the source over nonsense you have no argument at all, just rambling nonsensical insanity spewed from your mouth like explosive diarrhea.

Me thinks you have too little brain in the brain.

😂 Talk about projection! What a confession. 😂

Everything Trump said in that idiotic speech was a lie about Biden and an admission of what he himself did.
I won’t insult your minimal intelligence by pretending you actually believe the delusional ramblings you just posted, they would make a good case for insanity if he believed it, but we all know he doesn’t.
Every word of that insanity was a total fabrication of a delusional mind.

The presidential records act absolutely doesn’t give him the right to take top secret classified documents home when he leaves office, or retain them, or lie under oath about having them, or defy warrants for them, or show them to otherS, NONE OF THAT IS LEGAL UNDER THE PRESIDENTIAL RECORDS ACT.
Trump obstructed Justice at every possible turn, destroying evidence hiding documents, he still has an unsearched secret room in his bedroom not disclosed when the FBI searched, so likely has MORE stolen documents still. Biden cooperated more than fully with the investigation, which even the political hack Trump appointed special prosecutor admitted.
…and Biden had a grand total of 20 documents or notes designated “classified”, none top secret…Trump had over 325 well marked classified FILES containing multiple classified documents each including I think a dozen or more of the highest most secret files the government has, files never supposed to leave a SCIF and not declassifiable by the president under any circumstances.
Not one word he said was true, and you know it, fool.
That speech if not intentional lies is proof Trumpist Alzheimer’s has progressed to the point of total delusion.

PS- Still waiting.

Idiot rapist mr trump has now (not including today) uncontrollably posted 50 more libelous statements about his rape victim, Carrol, since his second lying about rape trial started, and given numerous slanderous press conferences/interviews…the same kind he’s twice convicted of already and paid $5 million for the first case and awaits her second (much larger) judgement.
The jury saw what he posted during jury selection in opening statements. They will see the rest in closing statements right before deciding how much to fine him. Do you think his actions are those of a smart man, or someone having an uncontrollable tantrum?
They could easily just decide the price has been set…$5 million per statement, making it $250 million so far with likely 5 more days of his libeling and slandering her continuously WHILE AWAITING JUDGEMENT FOR LIBEL AND SLANDER! The jury is supposed to decide how much it will take to stop him and he thinks this will minimize his exposure? This judgement could actually dwarf the NY State judgement he has coming for $350 million and ending his businesses.
You don’t really believe he has $700+ million to spare, do you? 😂 you know the banks own all his properties, not him, right? You do know his billionaire status is only self claimed, never corroborated, right? 😂
Syphilis really destroys your brain. Probably why he thinks it’s ok to complain publicly (in New Hampshire) how ridiculous it was that after he lost the election he had to follow the law as he’s facing 91 counts for not following the law when he lost the election.

PS- Speaker of the house says Biden was ordained by God. MAGA insists that the Democratic Party has more power than God and overpowered him to install Biden against God’s wishes. 😂

PPS- Trump has set up what amounts to a charity (the Patriot Freedom Project) to help support, aid, and comfort the Jan 6 insurrectionists, many of which have been convicted of seditious insurrection so the claim they aren’t insurrectionists is factually and legally invalid, he has headlined many of their functions, and even hosted them at his properties for free. I wonder how the MAGA brain thinks that isn’t offering aid and comfort to insurrectionists…another violation of the 14th, can you explain?

Thoughts and Prayers vs Drowning

cloudballoon says...

I'm a Christian, and I absolutely detest American "thoughts and prayers"-ism. It's done so much damage to America (or abroad) and not just passively let evil deeds to keep happening, it also created and justified many of those deeds. Especially on gun violence, it's downright vile and the 2nd amendment "interpretation" (more like ignoring 100% of the context and 80% of the text before & after "right to bear arms").

This toxic combo of "thoughts & prayers" and "rights to bear arms".... is this "American Exceptionalism"? It happens to no other countries, and I don't see many of their government are less "democratic" or "free," nor its citizens have less rights.

The passivity of whole "thoughts and prayers" is NOT what Jesus said, nor what Jesus wants its followers do. If people read the NT, then they'll know Jesus is more of a SJW progressive/activist than what half of the US - the right leaning people - say Jesus is.

Oh, the all-too-easy "my heart breaks for..." whatever tragedy a politician/faith leaders heard and then DON'T do anything that they can help bring legislation to minimize said tragedy? Just as bad and hypocritical.

What gives a "law abiding" citizen the right to bare mass killing machine guns? Or owning hundreds and thousands of ammo in a home? For self-defense? Is that necessary? Really it's just a twisted sense of entitlement/freedom or some kind of nihilistic fetish. You know, I have the crazy "Borat" idea that if I'm an American (I'm Canadian, so I don't have the "right" to do anything directly), I'd troll the far-right Republican cultists using my Christian "credential" to demand my right to bear ANY arms... like anything from bombs, grenades to tanks, fighter jets and nuclear missiles as a private collection as long as I can afford it (Hooray, Capitalism!). It's my freaking "God"-given right! Carry the selective 2nd amendment reading to the extreme to see how ridiculous the status quo already is! ... But the thing is, I'm not sure anymore if there already IS a critical mass of far-right crazies that really believe what I said make total sense.

Hmmmm….did you think better about this post and remove it @bobknight33? It’s disappeared. I’ll put it back here where it’s safe……

You are way beyond ignorant.

Trump was found guilty on day one because the evidence that was 100% undisputed by Trump proved his guilt absolutely, not even a requirement for guilt in civil court. Evidence, and supporting facts had absolutely been presented by both parties, litigated, and stipulated to…years and years of contradictory and fraudulent business records filed with the state under penalty of perjury….it’s what’s known as a prima facie case,
“ A prima facie case is a cause of action or defense that is sufficiently established by a party's evidence to justify a verdict in his or her favor, provided such evidence is not rebutted by the other party.”
The evidence was not rebutted, Trump blatantly minimized value beyond reason for tax purposes and inflated it beyond reason for loan purposes…both in writing with his and his children swearing to the veracity of the numbers.

There was absolutely no rebuttal to the fact that the Trump organization committed repeated and massive frauds in New York. I know Trump has gone on tv and made claims that he disputed the evidence , but the facts are he did not dispute it in court under oath, only on camera where he can lie freely.

There was a bench trial not a jury trial because Trump did not request a jury until after the penalty phase of trial had started, well beyond the legal deadline. Are you saying he should get special treatment because his chosen lawyers are incompetent? I and the courts think not! I think you would insist on the bench trial with an unfavorable judge if this were a Democrat in court…in fact I know so. 😂

😂 Yes I DO find these type of court actions OK in America, they are absolutely normal legal procedure that any competent attorney could have avoided at every turn, but Trumps are too busy giving interviews and fundraising for him to actually do the trial work, you get the lawyers you deserve, and Star fucking camera chasers are the only ones who will work for a debt welcher and insane and dangerous client like Trump.

bobknight33 said:

You way beyond blind.

Found guilty by the judge on day 1 -- no facts presented yet no jury - per judge since he decided Trump guilt on day 1. no jury trial needed per judge because no trial needed- only how guilty is Trump at hand.

And you dont find this type of court actions - ok in America?

😂 Trump decided Eric had done enough damage to his case under cross examination and had him not testify for the defense.
Not good when you don’t want the person who was running the company during the period in question to testify in the business’s defense…not that he would have helped. 😂

Trumps “expert” witness admitted that, if the charges that Trump’s already been found guilty of are correct (and that’s what being found guilty means), that’s massive intentional fraud. He also testified that he had absolutely no knowledge of the facts in the case besides the minimal hyper biased data Trump supplied him (like his insistence that Maralago is worth $1.5 billion despite Trump previously going to court to argue it’s worth under $20 million for taxes, and not revealing the deed that has multiple permanent conditions that severely minimize the property value to under $20 million).

He’s already lost the case, he lost before it started and now it’s all about damages, but his defense has been so ridiculous it’s likely NY will get MORE than they’ve asked for AND banks will be coming after him for $200 million+- in interest he should have paid had his loan applications been valid. I’m pretty certain Trump doesn’t have the money to pay a half billion in fines and judgements, he doesn’t have the cash to pay his own legal bills, and won’t have his businesses to make more after the Trump crime family is tossed out of New York for underhanded criminal business practices. You better send him some of that sweet sweet Tesla cash you made, he needs you. 😂

Edit: I misunderstood …. When you flee to somewhere you aren’t welcome, you invaded. That’s not characterization, it’s definition. If my home isn’t safe so I force my way into yours, I invaded your home…even if my friend down the street said it was ok.
It’s not a legitimate motive to invade a foreign country and murder, subjugate, and ghettoize its inhabitants because you aren’t safe where you live. There is no legitimate motive for those actions.

I think you take great liberty deciding the “Arab narrative”. That may be the Hamas narrative, it’s not the Palestinian’s history, and I think few claim it is. At first they were and acted like refugees, welcomed by Arab natives, some of which were Jews themselves, then shortly after began exponentially increasing immigration to overpower the natives, coming armed. They had no right to take by force food, shelter, and safety from those who had offered it to a much smaller portion of needy Jews…they in fact had an obligation to do the exact opposite and minimize their impact on their TEMPORARY HOSTS, and ensure their benefactors didn’t suffer for their generosity. This was not even a fleeting thought for the invaders.

The violent Zionists were intentionally courted and invited then supported and encouraged by those you say were “getting along”, so your point is misguided.

That native population was displaced by a concerted effort to forcibly immigrate en masse and seize control. The natives eventually balked, but too late and the overwhelming masses of armed violent Jewish invaders took over.

I’m in a camp that doesn’t give a shit about religion, they’re all idiotic nonsense, but believes in law and order, and invading people seizing control by force and dehumanizing the natives is not a thing I’m prepared to gloss over or erase with one sided details. I don’t gloss over my own country’s inhumane origins of genocidal racism against our natives, and I support any measure that returns anything they’ve been stripped of.

I’m also in a camp that doesn’t think it’s ok to murder and rape Peter to pay Paul for Patrick’s bill. The Palestinians bear zero responsibility for Jews treatment in Europe. None.

I’m also in a camp that believes “refugee” means you are a guest until you can return home, not a new citizen with more rights than natives.

The European Jews there are invaders acting terribly unreasonably, they’re very Trumpian in their actions, any slight against them is an excuse to go full bore Hitler against those kids with rocks.

I don’t “just declare invasion”. It was an invasion.
Foreign people came unwanted and illegally into the country and took over by force. That’s called an invasion in English by most definitions, and an invasion it was.
The forceful invaders are ALWAYS the bad guys, the oppressors are ALWAYS the bad guys, the expansionists are ALWAYS the bad guys. That describes all the Israeli people. They are the bad guys, whether they intended to be or not.

bcglorf said:

"Who the fuck cares what the reason they wanted to invadeflee was?"

Characterization matters a little here, no?

"They had a right to refugee status there, not to take control and possession by force"

Which is at the heart of things.

The Arab narrative is that Jews arrived guns loaded and set about pillaging, killing and invading as soon as they had sufficient numbers, while the poor domestic Arab population had only been trying to assist and welcome in the refugees...

Which is ahistorical propaganda.

The reality is that for the most part, the European Jews arriving in Palestine were refugees and acting like refugees. Meaning they mostly just wanted to be able to provide food, shelter and safety for the families, just like everyone else. Most of them tried to set about doing this by legally purchasing land.

Lots of the local Arabs similarly were content to get along.

At that same time though, there were hardcore Zionists among the Jewish arrivals AND there were xenophobic elements willing to use violence within the Arab population too.

The tensions rose as the populations rose, but largely as a result of a large people being displaced, and NOT as the planned invasion you describe. The local Arab population started to band together to refuse to work, trade or sell to Jews. Violence broke out instigated separately on smallish scales by BOTH sides. Escalating violence followed, again back and forth between sides.

I'm in a camp that has a hard time blaming either the domestic Arab population for distress at the huge influx of refugees, nor for the European Jewish people having a low tolerance for discrimination and violence directed there way solely for being Jewish.

I see it as a huge mess, but with two large populations of Jewish and Arab people in Palestine acting not terribly unreasonably under circumstances of extreme pressure.

I think it's lazy and convenient to just declare 'invasion' so that you can simplify it all down to right/wrong and good guy/bad guy....

Palestinian UN Ambassador At UN

bcglorf says...

"welcomed a relatively small number of European Jewish refugees in the 30’s while under British rule"
The Jewish population in Palestine approximately doubled from 84k in 1922 to 175k in 1931, and tensions already started pretty heavily then in 1931. The Arab narrative is pretty emphatic that the invasion start in the 1920s(and unspoken, the resistance and tension internally between Jew and Arab too).

"Then in the 40’s the Jewish minority, America, and England ignored their pleas to minimize immigration, ignored immigration laws, and invited a major invasion, so many European Jews came illegally..."

Come now, don't play dumb, you left out any reason why European Jews might do this outside of 'launching an invasion'. What other motive might 1940's Jewish Europeans have had to ignore immigration laws to migrate out of Europe????

That's where your narrative and mine clash irrevocably. I count the refugee flight from 1940s Europe to be even more desperate than the plight the Palestinians in Gaza face today. I can not accept your POV where upon arriving in Palestine and facing violence and discrimination there too, that it's just plain and simply obvious that the Jewish people's are invaders and bad guys with no right to an existence in the land they fled to.

You know, unless you want to credit Trump's MAGA approach to the southern border as valid cause it's awful similar, save that the Jewish people were facing much more desperate circumstances

newtboy said:

In short-The small population of Arab natives along with a native Jewish minority welcomed a relatively small number of European Jewish refugees in the 30’s while under British rule (but with a date set for their independence by the League of Nations, a date that came and went without ever establishing a Palestinian state). Then in the 40’s the Jewish minority, America, and England ignored their pleas to minimize immigration, ignored immigration laws, and invited a major invasion, so many European Jews came illegally that the Arab natives quickly became the minority, then had all rights stripped by the now well armed invaders that now claimed their land and property…invaders that kept coming by the millions. How is that not an invasion of squatters?
It’s a complete abandonment of the Palestinian Mandate the Brits ruled under, which was allowed internationally after ww1 for the sole purpose of getting Palestine in a position to rule themselves, something the Brits failed to even try then actively sabotaged by supporting the mass immigration of millions of European Jews, and was the biggest possible “fuck off and die” to the Palestinian people that had cooperated fully with the international plan for their independent future that was unceremoniously stripped from them and handed to Israel.
From that point, details don’t matter so much. Invading occupying forces don’t get to whine because the natives won’t just go away and die….at least I’m not listening when they do. Want to stop being attacked, stop murdering innocents and taking land.

I wonder why you think Israel is not so dominant seeing as they already proved repeatedly their military dominance even when their neighbors band together. Not one of the countries you mentioned has an advanced military, they are last gen at best, really two or more generations behind, and have third world resources not trillions to spend. Iraq proved that advanced weapons beat numbers hands down every single time. Unless Iran gets a nuke capable of getting through the highest levels of missile defense on the planet, their “neighbors” (Palestines allies) pose no actual threat to Israel and a pretty minor threat to the expansionist settlers invading Palestine.

I never ignored any rolls of the neighbors supporting, arming, and instigating unrest…but those roles are minuscule compared to the actions of Israel. Nothing recruits for Hamas like the Israeli army. Nothing creates more terrorists than murderous settlers. No other factor has 1% the effect that Israel’s own actions do in creating enemies.
Murderous expansionist settlers should be eliminated with prejudice immediately. They are the biggest factor driving Israel’s murderous regime to murder more innocents.
If Israel acted civilly instead of treating the natives like the Nazis treated them, its neighbors couldn’t easily convince angry teens to pick up guns and shoot Israelis. Give the Palestinians something to lose, or they’ll have nothing to lose, a chip on their shoulder, and a clear enemy responsible for their plight. This is the official recipe for a terrorist.

Blaming the neighbors is like claiming N Carolina is RESPONSIBLE for all shootings in N Y because some guns used are procured there…nonsense. They are complicit, but minimally so. It’s the shooters motives you need to look at, not the store they use. Why are they so ready to sacrifice their lives to just shoot or throw rocks AT Israel (99/100 times hitting nothing)? Because they have nothing to lose but life in an ever shrinking ghetto ruled over by a foreign racist regime that wants them just gone and is more than happy to starve children to death and bomb refugee camps to accomplish that goal.
The neighbors didn’t invade, expel, ghettoize, and gleefully murder the Palestinian people, that was Israel.

Blaming the victims is not an argument that will win many over…and no question the Palestinian people are the TRUE and only victims.

Where are the European countries now…the same ones that facilitated the Jewish invasion should be obligated to enforce the borders, and/or take the Palestinian refugees and free them from the ghetto/prison Israel keeps them in….but none are.

Side note- I keep hearing people who support Palestinians described as anti semitic. It bears noting that European Jews, the VAST majority of Israelis, are NOT Semitic…but all Palestinians are. Being pro-Israel is actually and factually anti-Semitic.

Trump just lost his $100 million defamation suit against his niece, 3 reporters, and The NY Times for exposing the decades of tax fraud he and his father engaged in to build their fortune (as well as redlining) that got them a Pulitzer. 😂

The suit was so frivolous he has to pay all their attorney fees because….get this…his lawsuit was trying to go after them for what is clearly PROTECTED FIRST AMENDMENT SPEECH! Trump absolutely HATES paying lawyers.

So much for his public (but not tried in court because it’s nonsense) defense that his trials are about first amendment protected speech which he reveres….but clearly only for himself.

At some point, he should realize he hasn’t won in court in years and isn’t going to win any of his criminal trials either. His lawyers are all getting disbarred and put in prison, which should be a good indicator of the quality of their legal advice. Never hire YES men to be your lawyers…often your lawyer’s job is to tell you NO!

As a bonus, filings indicate Trump inflated his net worth by 50%, but I think that’s minimizing his exaggeration since in some cases like Maralago he was claiming in sworn financial documents it was a single family residence he could sell for $750 million but in reality it’s valued by the county at $19 million and is only zoned as a social club, not a residence. D’oh! How funny will it be when he can’t come up with the $250 million judgement even after selling his interest in all his properties. He already can’t pay his criminal attorneys and judgements…he couldn’t even come up with $200k bail, he needed a bond!

As a second bonus, the case to disqualify him on the 14th in Michigan has been filed. It’s a winner. But by all means, don’t let that convince you to stop supporting him blindly. We want him to be the nominee, it’s a guaranteed sweep for Democrats if he is.

Proud Boy Joseph Biggs is going to be standing back and standing by for 17 years! He should have gotten 30 with a terrorism enhancement, but his Trump appointed judge felt sorry for him. Cried a river at sentencing. 😂

😂 In Trumps deposition in NY he blamed all the fraud his company committed on his son Eric (omitting Don Jr who was clearly in charge during his presidency)…not sure how he thinks that’s a defense, Eric and Don Jr only ran it (on paper) after 2017, but the crimes charged go back decades.
He said he just didn’t have time to run his businesses, but must have forgotten he had plenty of time to fly to different states (or countries) to play golf at least 298 times during his tenure (at a Cost to Taxpayers of About $144,000,000 according to the GAO)
So, he blames his dumb son for absolutely no defense, just as deflection that reminds everyone what an absentee “always on vacation” president he was. That’s the loyalty he has for others. This is you guy, this you pick.

Were the Atomic Bombings of Japan Necessary?

newtboy says...

I’ve always thought it was a horrific decision, but not at all because of the immediate effects or massive death and destruction they caused in Japan….they fucked around and found out and deserved everything they got (and I was unaware the Russian Manchurian offensive timing, but it’s even more reason to not drop a second bomb or even a first if we knew it was coming).

I think it was horrific because we had no idea what the long term effects of even minimal fallout might be, and in fall/winter the jet stream runs from Japan directly to the highly populated West coast (which we knew well thanks to balloon bombs), so some portion of the fallout was guaranteed to fall on millions of US citizens. We lucked out that it wasn’t deadly a year later, and didn’t cause horrible birth defects with near zero exposure…we had no concrete idea at the time though just guesses, and still don’t have a clear idea of how much it contributed to higher cancer rates in the US.

Keep in mind, we had no idea what discussions the Japanese were having amongst themselves , so no idea how effective our bombs nor the Manchurian offensive were at persuading them to surrender. Hindsight is 2020, but at the time we were flying blind.

The uncertain risk there of possibly killing millions of ourselves or gimping or sterilizing or even Cronenberging entire future generations for the comparatively minimal convenience of not using conventional bombs, to me, is no where near worth it. There were just too many unanswered questions about too many factors. I’m sure the soldiers fighting at the time would feel differently.
