We were near a depression in 2020 with 100% of economists predicting at least a severe recession in 21…didn’t happen and we are in a serious long term boom in 2024.

Thus, the enormous number of stripey-stripey sting-stings were already good 'n' pissed-off.

So chowderhead A and chowderhead B have a brilliant plan: they're going to shoot this enormous ball full of astoundingly-irate murderous insects with a shotgun while they're filming it. At first, surprisingly, nothing happens. This period of stasis lasts roughly a picosecond. Then, unsurprisingly, things start to happen and they happen far more quickly than the Chuckle Brothers planned on. This plays out in three acts:

Hubris takes many forms, and schadenfreude takes twice as many, but both combined were statistically zero compared to the number of hornets involved in this fiasco. With their plans in ruins and the nest not, our heroes decide to quit the field. This is the first smart thing they've done since looking at that big ball of wasps and deciding it was redolent with untapped hilarity. The hornets are having none of this white flag nonsense, however, and they decide to quit screwing around and really inflict some pain. It's a quarter mile back to the car and the hornets are going to make them pay for every inch of it.

The final score:
Hornet losses: meh, they were all going to die in a few weeks anyway.
The chucklenuts: 23 stings, a dropped shotgun, and three minutes of footage that they took in the pre-YouTube era and thus is lost to time.

All a child needs to be able to learn and discern are fundamentals of critical thinking in the form of basic/complex problem solving in the immediate world around him/her, and the basics squared.

By basics squared we mean the 3R's and about four foreign languages and maybe some musical training, kids can sponge that up and more in the proper environment. You need to thrown in practical tool-making with the daily training, and maybe some martial arts fundamentals.By the time they are seven (age of reason), you'll have MENSA material on your hands, and the makings of a real piece of work.

If you are into history and want to use it as a platform, leave any teaching of religions to the basics and leave the god-as-a-backdrop out of your curriculum. Your kid can make his own choices about the great unknown later, yer preparing a Renaissance child for a steam-punked future that's moving faster than any parent has the capacity to digest, anyhow...Your take on God will only complicate matters.

At one time I was on track to join Mensa. I passed the tests with no problem. The supercilious, rich bitch I dealt with on the phone (she ran Mensa in my area--"Oh, I couldn't meet with you next week, we travel Europe during the summers.") was a problem--but she's just one person, that didn't turn me off of the whole group. However, when I confirmed the rumor that I had heard about Mensa gatherings where the members all wear name tags with their IQ's prominently displayed, I turned my back on the group.
