Metallica - ' Enter Sandman '

videosiftbannedme says...

Obvious statement of the year, but Metallica went downhill once Cliff Burton died. Justice was a decent album, and there were some good songs on the black album, but overall they're spent. I miss the days of REAL metal; now everything is numetal infused with ska, hiphop, blah blah, etc. Give me some ol' Metallica, Megadeth, Soundgarden, Motorhead, Pantera, old Scorpions any day.

TESTAMENT-trial by fire (80's thrash metal)

detheter says...

Testament were one of the Big Four of thrash metal, so they were in place there with Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth... I've seen this argued a lot on other metal forums, and those four names always come up as being official.

Kind of like the big four of thrash in Europe goes Kreator, Tankard, Sodom, Destruction

What Amazon Products Have You Purchased Through VideoSift? (Sift Talk Post)

I just bought Megadeth's "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying" CD after I determined that I no longer had my original copy. That's what happens when you have a stoner friend who never returns anything.

Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction

Fallout 3 "I Dont Wanna Set The World On Fire" Music

BoneyD says...

This song was also used at the start of the Megadeth track "Set the World Afire" which, coincidentally, was also about nuclear destruction. I wondered as soon as I saw the teaser whether Bethesda (or, more correctly Interplay - thanks EDD) got the idea to use it from them. Or do great minds just think alike?

Megadeth - 99 Way To Die

BoneyD says...

This was originally about Mustaine's alchoholism, but was changed at a late stage to be about youth gun death. Presumably to make it more suitable for commercial airplay, the line "We're not ready to see you yet" was altered from it's original "I'm not ready..." with a videoclip to match the new subject matter.

You can see in the lyrics that the original intention of the song is preserved. The line "99 ways to die" being a poetic reference to that old favourite about beer on the wall.

Megadeth - "Foreclosure Of A Dream"

Want to hear something redneck? I got the Peace Sells album cover airbrushed on the back of my jean jacket when I was in high school, but the guy who did it sucked ass and had Vic Rattlehead looking more like Urkel. Later I just bought an acid wash jacket when I could afford it and decided to go the safe route with a Megadeth iron on. You can't fuck those up.

What are your favorite album covers? (Art Talk Post)

blankfist says...

^Ooooo! Yeah, Iron Maiden had some awesome covers! I used to have this Iron Maiden Number of the Beast album cover as a black light poster on my wall in high school. Eddie is legendary! I've got a cheese-lovin' nostalgic spot for most of the Heavy Metal covers from that time. I mean, come on, how can you not include this 80s-era nuke hysteria gem? Vic Rattlehead is also legendary.

As an aside, do you remember how many 80s heavy metal bands had mascots?! Motley Crue's Allister Fiend?! Anthrax's Not Man? A quick Google search netted this site with a list of 80s band mascots. Classic stuff.
