Why do dancers always lip synch to this song? It looks especially dumb when they don't really have the timing of the lyrics down.

They are obviously lip-synching as was routine back then...kind of clunky, but still a great song and performer.

Some believe that "Arnold Layne" was actually based on a real person, and that he routinely stole underwear from the mothers of Barrett and bassist Roger Waters during their childhood days in Cambridge.

she was probably lip synching to stay in time with the music - normally when you try to dance to a slowed-down version of a song, you need a way to remember what place you're at - some people can do it all in their heads after one or two times, but others just lip-synch to make it easier.

It is really difficult to play all of those roles while keeping an eye peeled for Jay Z's ass-kicking entourage AND daydreaming about videotaping sex with minors.

That's exactly what they do... play a slowed down version for her to dance to, then speed the footage up by the same percentage to match her moves to the real song. Pretty sure she's doing moves from the "Around the World" video. It was pretty cool until she started lip synching.

His lip-synched Gilbert & Sullivan bit on the MTV awards was indeed mind-altering.

The audio in the final product isn't actually of Michael J. Fox playing the guitar or singing live (he dubbed over his own singing in the studio). But he is both singing and playing "Johnny B. Goode" while the camera rolls, not just lip-synching and pretending to play the guitar.
