As a non physicist, normal person with an interest in science, to me extra dimensions always made sense. Consider the quantum fluctuations of empty space, with extra dimensions it's not particles popping in and out of existance, but rather particles moving in and out of our observable 3 dimensions.

I'm pretty sure that's it. I remembered it being called Earth but not the author. It's one of those books I had for years, but haven't read yet.

David Brin's "Earth"?
Unfortunately there is lots of dis-information out there trying to convince people of the wrong information. Often done by people who are sincere in their thoughts and beliefs and honestly think there is a conspiracy by the scientific community to hide the truth... the big bang/abiogenesis/evolution vs creationism and anthropological vs it's all natural climate change debates being one of the bigger examples.

I love cat videos. But videos like this are the reason I really love the web. Information is literally at our fingertips and, therefore, if you possess a computer there can be no excuse for ignorance.

I cannot, in good conscience, click that link. You can rest assured, however, that the mystery will be killing me.
Allow me to report, there's a lot of teal and some crude cock illustrations. It's borderline nsfw but easily sfhome.

Yes, but what about the Large Hardon Collider?
>> ^carrot:
LHC is proton-proton collision, not proton-antiproton. Tevatron was proton-antiproton though. Just saying.

The last comment that was made by Neil is an interesting one.
Just the other day my girlfriend asked (She lives in another state, i swear. She's real!!) why our nation spends so much money on going to space/mars.
I explained that we don't actually spend that much money compared to everything else in the budget. I also explained that a lot of today's inventions were made possible by the challenges to get to the moon. Then I talked about expanding the knowledge of our universe and so on.
To which she replied with, "Why do WE have to spend the money. We should just let other countries like Russia spend their money to go there and we can just sit back and absorb all the knowledge and technological advantages they get without having to spend a dime."
Can I borrow your girlfriend when you're done with her?

Definitely a pee-pee collider.
