Jupiter Ascending -- new film from Andy and Lana Wachowski

ChaosEngine says...

Maybe I'm just jaded... but I don't see anything that interesting here. It looks pretty, but what doesn't these days?

I'm glad the trailer doesn't outline the whole plot, but this is the other extreme. There's no hook here. What's the concept?

Prometheus, for all it's flaws, had a great concept. It was just let down by lousy writing and characters. (when you're watching an Alien movie and you're routing for the xenomorphs, the writers have fucked up).

This? As @rebuilder said, a space queen?

I hope I'm wrong. I hope the Wachowskis can still do something amazing.

Idiot rapper jumps from light rigging and falls to the floor

zaust says...

From his facebook:

"This is news to some, but many of you may have heard about the incident today at Warped Tour London. I jumped off an extremely tall lighting tress during my last song, and was taken to the hospital for examination. I was released, and I'm fine, besides some nicks, bruises, and the shame of endangering the crowd. The fall broke a girl's arm and hurt another guy. My tour manager Nils and I stayed at the hospital for 6 hours til the visiting period ended, and all I know about the man's condition at this point is that he has no breaks and the injury seems to be muscular/ bruising. I'll be going back in the morning to try to apologize, but I wouldn't blame the guy if he spits in my face. The jump was not awesome, it was not badass, and it was not ballsy. It turned what should have been a great day for the people who got hurt into a nightmare. It was stupid and wildly irresponsible, plain and simple.

I have no excuse for my actions, and the only way I can explain my mindset is that it was a huge overreach in the heat of the moment. No, I was not drunk or on drugs. I used to be a kid who was afraid to do anything physically dangerous-- I was scared of the ball in little league, didn't want to jump into lakes and would never have had the nerve to crowdsurf. But in the last year of touring, I've done increasingly risky things, maybe pushing myself by some dumb sense I am conquering my early timidity. I pride myself on trying to put on a good show and always giving 100% energy, but jumping off some high shit doesn't make someone a good musician or performer. I feel fucking terrible. I made a boneheaded decision that got people hurt, and it's extremely lucky it wasn't worse. Putting your own body on the line is one thing, but putting other people in harm's way is inexcusable. Today I let down my supporters, I let down the Warped Tour and I let down my band and the people who work their asses off behind the scenes to make these shows happen. My #1 priority right now is to somehow make this right for the folks who were hurt.

I will not be canceling the remaining 6 tour dates. I will do the shows, as usual I will meet everyone afterwards, and I will NOT be jumping off anything. I am deeply sorry and I promise to learn from this mistake."

The Tyrrell P34 at Goodwood Hillclimb

oritteropo says...

Somewhere near the 30s mark he's rather sideways, didn't seem to put him off at all

Sir Jackie Stewart tested it when it was new, and had rather nice things to say about it:

The car was somewhat let down by the tyre wear on those smaller front wheels, and never had a huge amount of success (except later in historic F1 racing).

Pit Stop Feature by Williams F1 Team - Part 4 - Drivers

Nothing negative about the sifter, but these are a let down every time I watch them, they tell you nothing really all to technical or really that interesting. Whomever produced this series might of thought a little longer about the content that is covered.

Game of Thrones Season 3 - The New Players

Mobius says...

I am very let down so far.. almost done second episode and it is boring, just as boring as the first episode in the third season was. I mean that first episode was REALLY REALLLLY BORING, big fuckin' snor fest over here when I was watching that one the other day.

complete let down, in the sense I was expecting some big neat sound and rapid violent reaction.

I want to see the one where the Red hot nickel ball is placed in a container of gasoline or diesel.

This one did pretty much what I would have expected. Bit of a let-down after the others.

PS4 Announcement - Abridged Version

RFlagg says...

I was underwhelmed to say the least during the presentation... Media Molecule got the biggest applause of the night. Got excited for a moment when Blizzard came out, then was let down by the Diablo 3 announcement, was hoping for something more exciting, but even if they release Titan on anything but PC they won't announce it at all until Blizzcon so not sure what I was expecting there... and yeah, the guy coming out to say we'll announce the next Final Fantasy at E3 was a cheap shot. And nothing really new from Destiny. I think the whole event was best summed up by XBox's Major Nelson who said something along the lines of "Have an event announcing your new console and not show it, that's one way of doing it."

I use my PS3 mostly for Bluray (it was by far the cheapest way into Bluray at the time) and Netflix (as my 360 sucks on Netflix on my network for some reason) and rarely games, that's what my PC is for and 360... It was nice to see it is indeed using x86 as rumored, and I was a little lost on why they didn't at least mention that it does have a Bluray drive during the event... something they mentioned in a followup press release as if they forgot...

The question now is, does Microsoft show early or wait for E3 for the whole show? They could do an pre-E3 show and show how it should be done... This was just badly handled. I mean 2 hours for what could have taken 30 minutes tops... and I still would have at least showed the system.

Silence on the Power Point limitation? (Money Talk Post)

mintbbb says...

Ok, not a huge surprise, yes, I have the 434 power points. I do not like to be called a 'hoarder'. It isn't like I gather them for some evil purpose (though guys, if you give me a car for one day reaching 5000 star points (http://videosift.com/talk/MintBBB-and-Galaxy#comment-1322775), I will give up those power points!

They just pile up, and since I am not active at promoting and/or qualitying (sorry), they just .. piled up! BUt I feel like I really, really want to spend time and find some gems before I promote. And since I still haven't made time to dig through most people's pqueues, I never used too many. And now, I feel like I don't want to bump anybody's promoted video off the list of 3, just because I could.

I think the promote system needs to be tweaked yes.. I haven't clicked on too many of the promoted videos because of lack of info (description, submitter..), and they do not look to appealing.

I do think people should have more than just a few power points if they have earned more. Maybe just put a daily limit? One can only promote and/or quality x videos per day. Let people get their power point rewards. I know the system of awarding power points for Top15 and Gold Ones is relatively new. There was a time were there were no badges.. there were even less rewarding times before my time. But rewards are good. People like rewards. Having Sifty say 'XXXXXX has made it into the Top 15 New Videos listing. Congratulations on your achievement. For your contribution you have been awarded 1 Power Point.' and then finding out you didn't ACTUALLY get the power point is a big let down.

Let people have power points, just limit the daily use, maybe that could be based on years active X 2 ..

Just please, do NOT call me a hoarder!

No probes. Man, talk about a let down!

Hey you're welcome. It looks like you've been abducted by aliens. They haven't started the probes yet, have they? Don't sweat it. They're not as bad as everyone makes them out to be.
