Did this remind anyone else abit of King Crimson's "Clouds"? at least the guitar playing?

I have a lot of new music to get, to check out all these riffs. Someone mentioned "Oh well" by Fleetwood Mac. That's a great one. If you want to hear an unusual riff, go way back to King Crimson (1970's Wake of Poseidon), and the riff in "Pictures of a City." That's a really unique one.

I still remember the first time I heard King Crimson...

That must have been pretty amazing to see such a talented group live. I'm rather envious. The biggest concert I've ever been too was The Rolling Stones and they didn't play anything from any of the albums I'd hoped they would.

The Mars Volta are the closest thing I've ever come to in hearing something modern and being reminded of King Crimson. They aren't even in the same league as far as musicianship is concerned though.

I was blessed to have seen King Crimson play in Berkeley in what turned out to be an absolute wall of sound. Although I had an affinity for their earlier contributions, I was enthralled with "Discipline," "Beat," and "Three of a Perfect Pair." "Dinosaur," and "Thraak" are great as well.

Is anyone making this kind of music anymore?

Anekdoten is a Swedish progressive rock band, comprised of guitarist/vocalist Nicklas Barker, cellist Anna Sofi Dahlberg, bassist/vocalist Jan Erik Liljeström and drummer Peter Nordins. They are notable for the use of the mellotron and the heavy and trippy sound, dominated by a pounding bass guitar. Their music is associated with the tradition of 1970s progressive rock music, especially the one of King Crimson, but they have also covered songs by Van Der Graaf Generator and Magma on their live performances.

One of my favorite songs evar!
