The REAL Reason You're Circumcised

newtboy says...

While I agree it's improper, I think 'barbaric' might be a little far in most cases. I feel like now it's mostly due to good intentions paired with misinformation, a little religious preference, and just a dash of surgical 'barbarism' for aesthetics. Perhaps there should be at least a push to re-educate the doctors and suggest they actually discuss the pros and cons with parents, not just ask 'you want?'.
Somehow I feel if it were up to the individual once they were of age that there would be a lot fewer of them. ;-)
I did find it interesting to learn it's hilarious 'origin' here in the US though.

Yep, it's fucking barbaric. It is genital mutilation of children, period.

If you decide as an adult male that you want to be circumcised, that's your decision. But I have no idea how it is considered socially acceptable to mutilate infants like this.

Cop Rear-Ends Motorcycle, Blames Rider

Yogi says...

Wow a lot of hate for a motorcyclist...probably from people who have never ridden a motorcycle in traffic before.

Anyways what strikes me here is not that he bumped him, that's not that big of a deal. It's the fact that the cop got out of his car and yelled at and berated him. That's completely unprofessional, he threatens him with tickets and he would get away with this as well if the motorcyclist wasn't smart and always wore his GoPro on rides to work. It's just like dash cams, it's the only thing that stopped that officer from going way too far. Hopefully and internal investigation will solve this.

^@spoco2 - I checked my kettle once with a meat thermometer- and it looks to be just the right temp (80c) = after automatic shut-off. I'm not a frothy milk drinker, so it's not an issue for me, but yeah, you would probably need a frother.

I'm finding I like mine long macchiato style with extra hot water added and then just a dash of milk.

Keith Olbermann's WTF!?! - "DON'T CALL ME LIZ!!"

Not really, I've worked man-shier jobs at bestbuy and a couple other retail stores, the reason you sign the card isn't for proof of ownership, you're supposed to check the signatures.

Most store clerks don't really care or check, but sometimes when you're signing, look up, odds are they're watching you sign your name very closely to see if there's anything abnormal about it (For instance, If a name starts with a big grandiose letter on the signature on the card, but they just quickly dashed it off, then that's considered suspicious)

A couple of times I had to decline the card because the person signing used a different signature all-together, it was a spouse of sorts and they shared a joint account but you have to use your own card, you can't sign your name when using your spouses card, in that case they have to sign.

There's actually a lot more to the signing then people think, it's one of the reason's i'm against having the chip cards. People have been able to find peoples pins out for years, but your average crook won't be able to copy someones signature that they've been working on for their entire life.

However, showing I.d. instead of a signature is just as valid as a signature in my mind, just so long as there's one or the other there.

>> ^Fade:
signing on the card is completely meaningless since you keep possesion of the card.
A signature is a representation of your person. If you are there in 'person' then a signature is redundant.
