Gyroscopic Stabilization in Zero-Gravity with CD Players

kingmob says...

So few comments...this truly shows the death of CDs...if ISS people are duct-taping players together to hold a flashlight...the usefulness of the CD itself is gone.

Whoa! Holy F*cking Sh*t!

A Gorilla Was Just Spotted On International Space Station

spawnflagger says...

I was just thinking "doesn't it cost $1M a pound to get stuff into space?"
so I looked it up, it's more like $10k (to $25k) to get 1 lb into LEO (low earth orbit, where the ISS is). But between 1lb and 5lbs, that's and expensive gag.

Why Space Station Resupply Rocket Failures are a Good Thing

Ashenkase says...

Time to get nit picky. The title of the video is incorrect. "Why the Recent Space-X Explosions are a Good Thing". Spacex Dragon has had only 1 failure (Sunday) in the last 18 launhces, 4th best record of all launch vehicles in history. Antares is a US vehicle and the Proton is Russian. So the title should read "Why the recent ISS resupply failures are a good thing"

Key West Moped Crash

Orion: Trial By Fire

spawnflagger says...

yes, he is comparing only against manned space craft.

Even though this test flight will be unmanned, Orion is meant to take astronauts into space - a replacement for the retired Shuttle program.

2 things that weren't clear from this video - 1) can it take large payloads, or only what can fit into the capsule? 2) can it dock to the ISS ?

I can name a couple spacecraft that have gone further than Mars. Several even.

Unless they're only counting manned craft.

ISS over major cities

Sniper007 jokingly says...

To hell with ISS and their violence against America and her allies! Now they have SATELLITES too?! It's time to unite, and support all military action by the president or anyone else against anyone, any where, any time!!!
