BBC reporter tries THC for science

Payback says...

Well, according to the "Just say no" literature I've read, she should be a $5 crack whore by now.

Not far off, but again, she wasn't too far away going in, she's an "investigative reporter" after all.

Man tells story of Dept of Education raiding his home.

bareboards2 says...

It is so tiring to be painted with beliefs I don't hold just because I don't agree 100% with someone else's stance.

I am very confused by this whole story. First I was outraged as is everyone else, but then the broadcast ends by saying that he wasn't handcuffed and the door wasn't broken down? Somebody is lying, and they are OUTRAGEOUS lies. This happened at 6 am, and he sat in a car in front of his house for six hours! There must be neighbors! Witnesses!

If the cops are lying, that just compounds my outrage. Weiner lying about a tweet is NOTHING compared to a lie of this magnitude. Thank god for the fourth estate and a free press -- heads will roll and roll they should.

If the guy is lying, well, that makes it all kind of funny. I thought while watching it that he was entertaining -- he played that camera like a pro and was clearly having a GREAT time. And to end with his little speech about paying your student loans? This guy is priceless. If he made up the whole thing, that makes him even more entertaining. And then what does it say about our free press -- if they don't do the least bit of investigative reporting to see if he is credible. Did they talk to the neighbors to see if they had seen anything, to corroborate the story before airing it? Or were they more interested in their "exclusive" story so they can capture eyes and therefore profit from advertising dollars?

I have nothing but questions.

What a roller coaster ride this vid was for me -- outrage and amusement and wha???

I think it is a dupe. This one has excerpts of the other one but the audio seems lower or something. It's the same thing though. dupeof=http://videosift.com/video/Foul-Ball-Spilled-Beer-Thrown-Pizza

Obama's War: An Impeachable Offense?

>> ^GeeSussFreeK:

I did, but it seemed like you said the reason we shouldn't care about Libya is because of Iraq. And then turned around and said this isn't like Iraq, even though it is clearly like Iraq. In other words, you were mad because this is just like Iraq, and because it isn't like Iraq.

I'm sorry, but equating the current situation in Libya with the almost-decade-long debacle in Iraq is completely retarded. In no way did I say the two were alike. In no way at all did I even imply that the two were alike in any way. You said that. I didn't.

Iraq was brought about by post 9/11 crazy-fervor. Donald Rumsfeld flat out lied to America by saying that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction. The administration did everything they could to imply that Iraq was even somehow responsible for the World Trade Center attack and the vast majority of this country bought into it. Even supported it while somehow managing to feign complete ignorance of the whole Saudi Arabia issue. Remember the coalition of the willing? England and Poland and a long list of tiny countries with no military power whatsoever? How about the fact that there have been massive amounts of troops stationed in Iraq since the very beginning? Or that our then president Bush was informed, by God, via revelation that it was time to attack Iraq?

Meanwhile, this year in Libya, in a time of protests all over the world, we have reputable sources (not government investigators) reporting that not only are people in Libya protesting and trying to overthrow the government (a movement which never got off the ground during Saddam's regime) but that the dictator of the country is encouraging anyone on his side to kill any civilians who disagree with him. Now remember, this wasn't a secret plan carried out by word of mouth, it was a major news broadcast. And you have a problem with the fact that the president wanted to do something about it? I'd think that standing up for the basic human right to not be killed for your opinion would be seen as meritorious. Unlike the last president who needed a lame excuse.

As yet, there are no troops on the ground. The motive is not some concocted story. No one is even arguing over the motive for going in. It's been very clearly established. The US isn't even doing the largest portion of the work. Our partners include actual countries (no offense to Mauritania and the glorious country of Pitcairn Island) who are taking part in the assault as well.

Maybe this too will be proven to be a lie but the fact is people's lives are allegedly in danger NOW. And it's not like we're invading the country any time soon. We're not even trying to strike directly at troops. Sorry, but it seems like complete ignorance to me to claim that these to events are similar in any way. It seems like people are just looking for a way to blame the current president for the state of the world.

Reporter vs Mr. Touchy

Kevlar says...

>> ^kymbos:

That's complicated. The reporter was a close talker of almost Seinfeldian proportions, and then mr Passive Agreesive - Mark? Mike? - really started fucking with him.
Thanks for the context, bleedmegood.

Indeed, kymbos. Mark/Mike's gentle tap seemed at first to be a great combo breaker for the typical, sometimes-excessive, sometimes-misplaced investigative reporter bullying, but his continued use of the tap attack got a little predictable. Depending on which side you'd root for, I'd recommend the reporter open up with a Hadouken to start round 2 to move PR dude off his spot, while PR dude can perhaps pull a Scorpion/Get Over Here from the back row of seats to prevent the reporter from getting too far into the room.

I'm not forming an opinion here, I was just asking a question!
I didn't know that deserved a downvote though - I though asking questions was good.

I've been on youtube and noticed that there are an awful lot of videos by people claiming they’ve had muscular side effects after having the shot.

I'm not a doctor. I'm not a researcher. I'm not an investigative reporter. I'm not choosing sides. I'm not making solid decisions. I'm not pointing fingers or blaming anyone...

I didn't watch the video (didn't get a chance) so I didn't vote on it. I've seen this type of story, time and again. I'm feeling indifferent and desensitized over the controversy.

I’m just asking a question because it seemed to need asking.

Why do I keep hearing about this same side effect?
Is this more common than we are let to believe?
- Just asking the question!

No, it's not. Media sensationalism is what makes this seem to be more common than 1 in a million, when it really is. And just FYI, 1 in a million means there are 307 people in the US living with Dystonia.

Hey Radx,
Glad it was helpful. I'd recommend the video link I put up if you want to hear more, also on the same site are some other discussions of the issue. I dont have a lot of links to articles but I will keep an eye out. Theres a lot about Michael Woods the negotiator of the deal and how he kept the lawyers from examining the deal.... Maybe you already read it?

This is probably the best known irish investigative report show from Tuedsday night on the subject:
http://www.rte.ie/news/2009/0521/primetime.html

Also if you havent already seen it I'd recommend "Sex in a cold climate" thats on the sift:
http://www.videosift.com/video/Sex-In-A-Cold-Climate-Documentary-The-Magdalene-Asylums

I'm trying to find versions of some other documentaries online wihtout much luck. I'd recommend "Suing the Pope". It took the BBC to lift the lid on an absolute horrorstory in wexford. Traumatic viewing, beyond belief. Article about it here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/correspondent/1879407.stm

Heres a step by step on the same incident in the Ferns diocese: http://the-knitter.blogspot.com/2005/10/countdown-to-scandal-how-evil-unfolded.html

If I find the docs I'm looking for I'll send you the links!

Air India Flight 182 Goes Down

Sagemind says...

I will *beg for attention for this tragedy. Although this plane was filled with Indian passengers. Many people don't realize how many of them were Canadian. 270 of the 330 that died aboard this flight were Canadian.

Investigation and prosecution took almost 20 years and was the most expensive trial in Canadian history, costing nearly CAD $130 million. A special Commission found the accused perpetrators not guilty and they were released. The only person convicted of involvement in the bombing was Inderjit Singh Reyat, who pleaded guilty in 2003 to manslaughter in constructing the bomb used on Flight 182 and received a five-year sentence. He was refused parole in July 2007.

In September 2007, the Commission investigated reports, initially disclosed in the Indian investigative news magazine Tehelka that an hitherto unnamed person, Lakhbir Singh Brar Rode, had masterminded the explosions. This report appears to be inconsistent with other evidence known to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).[3]

Canada's Sikh community has put a great deal of pressure on successive Canadian governments to prevent a public enquiry from taking place. However, the Conservative Harper government, under less pressure from the Sikh community than the Liberal Party of Canada, launched a Commission of Enquiry in 2006. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_India_Flight_182

A very detailed report on this flight is recorded here: http://www.airdisaster.com/special/special-ai182.shtml
