Some things need hydration to maintain their structural form over the long term, so don't go to crazy with hydrophobic applications...can lead to cracking and embrittlement of certain materials.

Basically, the reason its so repellent isn't due to a hydrophobic coating, but rather the development of a surface nanostructure that has sharp angles and points in such a way that the surface tension of water binding to the surface is less than the attraction of the dipoles of the water molecule to other water molecules. As a result of this, the water forms globules on the surface rather than running off the side.

I call bullshit on something here. Its either not a real condiment, and some substitute that is hydrophobic to the material its both sitting on, and that the machine has.....or its...ITS BLACK MAGIC, BURN THEM!!

I didn't realize things could be SUPERhydrophobic, I thought they were just hydrophobic. Hurry up nanotubes, make me a damn space elevator already
