I was trying for a long time to come up with a way to add at least a small level strategy into the mix, without making it too weird or confusing.

Now it's a bit more like Wheel of Fortune and less like plain old hangman I suppose.

I don't even agree with the tone mink has used here, but one thing is to post about the subject and joke on the side, or maybe a couple of humor here and there; another is to fuck up the tread that much. Bravo.

It's not a discussion unless you contribute something. Like maybe some way the site could reduce its bandwidth requirements. Or increase its revenue. Issy, no one here doubts your loyalty to this place (hell you're the poster girl), but your loyalty isn't going to keep it afloat unless you have a few 10s of thousands of dollars to donate. $50 here, $20 there isn't going to do it.

Yes, dag, please give us some indication of where the money is going so we can help you figure out how to use it better. We trust you, but we want to be a part of the solution, not just a cog in the machine. Is it all draining down in your cdn? That seems unlikely, but I don't know - I've never run a big website. Can everyone go without avatars? Are thumbnails really relevant? Unless we know how the place is run, it's impossible for us to help you make it run more efficiently.

I think everyone is taking this seriously, so I think we can all do without the offensively self-righteous Gestapo rubbing our noses in it. No disrespect was meant to MINK or dag or anyone. The hangman (and tic-tac-toe) was an inspired, organic event that many people enjoyed. It could've happened anywhere.

I threadjacked him for sure, not gonna deny it. Mostly I did it cuz I could feel the tenseness starting to tighten up with that post between MINK and Dag. That, and in Jonny's last Sifttalk about dynamic queuing, they got into it a bit.

MINK, I think it's understandable that you're worried about the situation and that not knowing all the background info makes you feel even more uncomfortable. However, dag is pretty much the father of this community, so it would only be fair to cut him some slack and have a little more faith and trust him that he'll do everything possible to solve the monetary issues at hand.
