i fully state that it is impossible as shown...no argument here.

the fact remains one day it could be possible somehow with a different approach... and the links i gave on sensor and recording technology are to that end.

that's the only approach i see besides some other really wacky nonsense idea about metadata/gps/cctv i have... but ive said too much!

vairetube: Yes, there's a lot of cool research in computer vision, computer graphics, and computational photography. But it's pretty simple to say, in an information theoretical sense, that this CSI stuff is impossible.

Yes you could hallucinate plausible image content (super-resolution), but clearly that's not appropriate for a forensic setting.

But in this case we have a quantized, noisy, low resolution signal and the reflection in the eye could have been generated by any number of incident signals and it wouldn't make a difference in the recorded video signal. The information just isn't there.

i like he mentions the existence of DMT in our bodies. I read this is released when you die and provides powerful hallucinations? trippy. like tha ayahuasca root drink from the amazon or something... meo-5 DMT. anyhoo.

Marijuana is harmless (especially vaporized in medical grade device).

Your perceptions can be altered by the substance. Dealing with that is a valuable opportunity to learn.

The substance itself has remarkable and medically relevant, valuable, effects.

heroin and cocaine... people will always do this shit, like ecstacy and meth too. try cracking down on that instead. stop the pot sellers using cash for other more serious illegal operations. take that funding away.

spend money on educational opportunities and watch crime and despair and drug use drop.

what the fuck were we talking about again.

"Acute exposure to mercury vapor has been shown to result in profound central nervous system effects, including psychotic reactions characterized by delirium, hallucinations, and suicidal tendency."

Don't worry, he's probably done this before.

Made me look at my pharmacology book again.

Ketamine is employed mainly in children and young adults for short procedures. However, it is not widely used, because it increases cerebral blood flow and induces post-operative hallucinations ("nightmares"), particularly in adults.

I guess i "anecdoted" the "not widely used" into "not used anymore." Small, but important detail. Got my pharmacology exam coming up in a month and a half, so thanks!

^ Sorry Tymbrwulf, but you need to get your facts straight. Ketamine is, in fact, still used medically and frequently on children (it has been highly documented and has few contra-indications and you don't just abandon established and proven-safe medicines/procedures).

when you say "side effects", perhaps you are thinking about recreational uses.

True, that Ketamine is not the first anesthetic they would reach for, but it does have it's uses. Children sometimes have odd and inconsistant responses to anesthetics (developing brains and all), and as one loses efficacy, they start using a different drug (family).

For istance, morphine (opiate) has a limiting effect on my daughter now and just leaves her crazy-itchy. Lorazepam (benzodiazapene) has paradoxical results and leaves her frantically trying to climb out of her body. Ketamine is her current drug of choice (I am not being flippant here).

Medically speaking, you NEED many families of drugs to be still available.

An Overview Of Migraines

dannym3141 says...

I'll add my 2 bits.

I get certain visual problems before a migraine. It begins with what i would liken to tunnel vision, where i'm focusing very hard on the "centre" of my sight, if you will, and the edges become milky almost. I wouldn't say i lose my sight in those areas, but i "don't see" them. Then, distances start to morph, and i translate the distance between my head and my book/monitor/desk/hand as both very small and HUGE at the same time. Almost as though i'm considering it on a relative level (relative to the size of my body) and also on a molecular level, where the distance is astronomical. Then, having recognised this, the distance begins to change in front of my eyes, almost like zooming in and out on a camera very quickly. It's nauseating, and it gives me a panic attack, it's a really scary sensation. Other times i'll get blue sparks occuring all around the peripheral vision area, they're nothing special really, the better of the 2.

Then i get a terrible, terrible headache that lasts for at least half a day. Often it feels like such a great pressure in my head that i think it'll explode. Usually it only goes if i sleep. I'm incapable of doing anything while i have that headache, it's debilitating. It pulses in a sense, become more painful for a while and then less painful for a while. I need utter darkness, including any LED's in the room, literally every source of light has to be extinguished. Marijuana has helped, and when i've been drunk i've thought that i had a migraine, but it wasn't feeling anywhere near as bad as a migraine (and so is it? perhaps not).

During the "aura"(?) phase with the visual hallucinations and for a few days after the headache part, i find it hard to speak. I know i can say something if i want to, but when i try to speak i stutter a lot, and it takes me a while to say what i want to say, and i often feel distanced from things.

I've never had one at work or at university, i dread to think what i'd say/do if i had one. It's something i feel almost guilty about because i feel that if you've never had one you'd never accept/understand just how much it hurts. "Boss, i've got a migraine." - "Yeah, i've got a headache too, get back to work."

I'm actually feeling my hackles rise explaining it and remembering the feeling. I don't get any other the other stuff though.

I never knew about medication for migraines, i thought it'd just be painkillers. Gonna speak to my doc thanks to mintbbb's initial post.

Ingesting Magic Mushrooms has Long Lasting Positive Effects!

budzos, I'm not backpedalling. See my first comment in the thread where I said:

>> ^Flood:
You can of course have a significant experience that could impact the rest of your life, but please remember that they are the result of the drug. To pretend that the hallucinations where of spiritual origins is to delude yourself.

In the context of how it was used in the video, I interpretted "spiritual experience" as implying that the person had an experience whose origin was spiritual. I did not interpret it as implying that the person had an experience where the theme was spiritual.

I'm trying to find common ground here. Can we at least agree that a drug-induced hallucination is not reasonable evidence for supporting the belief in a deity?

Cybrbeast,

I don't know whether spiritual visions are real or not. I doubt that they are real, because I have seen little evidence to suggest otherwise. But I suppose it's in the realm of possibility that someone could induce a targeted vision in another person, albeit not very probable with the technology we have. But I can't say for certain that spiritual visions are not real.

If I had a spiritual vision, I might consider that evidence towards the existence of them. However, I would have to gauge the quality of the evidence. If I was on psychedelic drugs when I had the spiritual vision, I would say that there is strong evidence that the vision was simply a chemically induced hallucination, and not anything spiritual.

I'm glad to hear that you recognized that the gods you interacted with while on Salvia were not real, instead of taking that experience as valid evidence of some kind.

I retain my stance that believing that a hallucination is a spiritual vision is deluding yourself. By "spiritual vision", I mean a vision of divine (though not necessarily heavenly) origin.

If you were tripping balls in the park, and saw Mickey Mouse part the clouds and talk to you, you'd have to be a nutter to believe that Mickey Mouse is God. So why believe the hallucination is spiritual if you replace Mickey Mouse with an old dude with a beard. To pick and choose whether a hallucination is just your mind playing tricks on you or whether it is spiritual is simply deluding yourself.

The one thing to learn from tripping is that the only reality you know is the one created by your brain, and that your brain can make up some crazy shit. If anything, it should shine some light on any other spiritual experience you ever had.

Open your eyes.
