Slade: Run Runaway

sometimes says...

Goofball_Jones: Slade also originally did Mama Weer all Crazee Now, annother of Quiet Riot's "hits".
As the other old farts here might recall, Quiet Riot jumpstarted the 80s hair-metal craze. Singer Kevin DuBrow made a lot of enemies, especially in the press, by constantly insisting on getting credit for having done so. He repeatedly accused other bands of riding on the wave of his band's success. This being highly amusing and Ironic, considering their biggest hits were Slade covers.

The Darkness - I Believe In A Thing Called Love

thain1982 says...

I'll not downvote, as it's not a terrible song (and I like the harmonized guitar break at the beginning), but this video is very disturbing, and the lead singer's desire to sing constantly in a falsetto is just grating. There are much better hair metal bands from the 80s.

I must say I agree with farhad...very overrated band

Don't...Stare...Directly...at...the...HAIR!!!

coupland says...

This song has always been -- to me -- the ultimate hair metal song. Because it was king of the hill when hair metal reached its apex, but also because it was one of the songs that made fans start to ask "WTF? we actually *like* this shite?"

Conan O'Brien's Studio Tour

rickegee says...

I know, Krupo. It was a hard sell and it was hopelessly stalled, but Conan really is at his best in this kind of bit.

Someone with room should re-post this. I am not willing to give up on the hair metal gloriousness that is the Cult just yet.
