Hmm.. is there one with the correct lyrics?

O fortuna
Velut luna
Statu variabilis,
Semper crescis
Aut decrescis;
Vita detestabilis
Nunc obdurat
Et tunc curat
Ludo mentis aciem,
Egestatem,
Potestatem
Dissolvit ut glaciem.

Sors immanis
Et inanis,
Rota tu volubilis,
Status malus,
Vana salus
Semper dissolubilis,
Obumbrata
Et velata
Michi quoque niteris;
Nunc per ludum
Dorsum nudum
Fero tui sceleris.

Sors salutis
Et virtutis
Michi nunc contraria,
Est affectus
Et defectus
Semper in angaria.
Hac in hora
Sine mora
Corde pulsum tangite;
Quod per sortem
Sternit fortem,
Mecum omnes plangite!

Fortune plango vulnera
Stillantibus ocellis
Quod sua michi munera
Subtrahit rebellis.
Verum est, quod legitur,
Fronte capillata,
Sed plerumque sequitur
Occasio calvata.

In fortune solio
Sederam elatus,
Prosperitatis vario
Flore coronatus;
Quicquid enim florui
Felix et beatus,
Nunc a summo corrui
Gloria privatus.

Fortune rota volvitur:
Descendo minoratus;
Alter in altum tollitur;
Nimis exaltatus
Rex sedet in vertice
Caveat ruinam!
Nam sub axe legimus
Hecubam reginam.

Learn latin, bitches!

Exactly KO, exactly. You have stated what so many of us have thought, it's not so much the right wing nutjobs who are at fault here, they're entitled to be nutjobs and spout their crazy talk, but it is up to everyone else to pat them on the head, smile sagely and then completely ignore them, NOT REACT TO THEM.

It is insane, completely insane and seeing as I haven't had a DD anything for a good couple of years, hell I'll jump on the bandwagon and say I'm boycotting them too

They can join Dominos who I already was for reasons given above, but that was easy because they are the WORST pizzas I've ever come across, I don't know how they became so popular.

And they join Gloria Jeans here in Australia, because their owners give thousands of dollars to the 'Mercy Ministries' who 'help' women in trouble (by telling them they're possessed mostly, or that their interest in Dungeons and Dragons has led them down their path to dispear... I kid you not, check out the application form and the tick boxes here) but then that wasn't hard either because I don't like their coffee either.

Man, what can I boycott that I actually enjoy?

Farhad2000 says...

The countries political past pretty much speaks for itself.

The previous president Joseph Estrada, who was a popular actor before gaining office, was taken down by charges of corruption, the impeachment court, whose majority were political allies of Estrada, voted not to open an envelope that was said to contain incriminating evidence against the president. The final vote was 11-10, in favor of keeping the envelope closed. Leading to political upheaval and finally to the Armed forces withdrawing their support in favor of the vice president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

In late September 2005, Arroyo issued an executive order stating that demonstrations without permits would be pre-emptively stopped. Then members of the military testified in Congressional hearings that they were defying a direct order not to testify about their knowledge of the election scandal. The opposition and militant groups have accused the Arroyo administration of moving towards an undeclared version of martial law. The "no permit, no rally" policy followed by the Calibrated Preemptive Response policy are both aimed at regulating street rallies. There is the issuance of Executive Order No. 464 forbidding government officials under the executive department from appearing in congressional inquiries without President Arroyo's prior consent.

As you may know Ive created a playlist of many of the dead videos on the sift. As its been there for awhile, and there have been quite a few views of it, very few vids have been fixed or discarded. I thought a list just of yours might be of some help. The list below are all your videos on my playlist. There may be a few errors, but I gave it my best shot.

Gumby Show Trailer

doremifa says...

The Gumby comeback is a great story that I read a while ago:

http://ezone.org/ez/e3/articles/mingo/gumby.html

Gumby started generating a lot of money. The problem was, Clokey wasn't getting much of it. He was paid a straight salary of $200 a week to write and produce the Gumby episodes. (That went up to $350 a week shortly before the Gumby Show was canceled in 1957.)

For eight years, he refused to license the Gumby image for merchandising. "I was a very idealistic person," he says, "and I didn't want to exploit children." That changed after Gumby's show left NBC and Clokey bought all rights back from the network. His Prema (Sanskrit for "universal love") Toy Corporation started manufacturing Gumby dolls and toys in 1964, the year that Gumby found new life in syndication and Clokey started getting rich.

Not long after, however, his personal life fell apart, and so did his fortune. He went through painful and expensive divorce proceedings with his wife of 18 years in 1966, about the time that TV stations began dropping Gumby in favor of newer and slicker kid shows. Clokey invested his last dollars in a new venture--a flexy-faced doll called Moody Rudy-- that bombed. His house went into foreclosure. In 1974, his daughter died in a car crash. Clokey went into heavy therapy and began "looking at various gurus" before adopting the teachings of Indian Swami Muktananda.

Clokey remarried in 1976 and three years later, he and his new wife Gloria traveled to Bangalore, India to visit a guru named Sathya Sai Baba who supposedly had amazingly magical powers. For some reason, Clokey brought a Gumby doll along to their audience with the guru. "I stood there with Gumby and he did this circular motion with his arms," Clokey says. "Out of nowhere he materialized this sacred ash. He plopped it right on top of Gumby. When we came home again, things started to happen." Gumby toy sales began to pick up, and then Eddie Murphy started doing a continuing Gumby skit on Saturday Night Live.. Suddenly, the phone started ringing and Gumby was hip again. Clokey went on a lecture tour and received an $8 million contract with Lorimar for a new Gumby series. He started work on Gumby--the Movie.

"Tainted Love" by Gloria Jones - soft cell covered this one

"Tainted Love" by Gloria Jones - soft cell covered this one

oohahh says...

Wikipedia says that sometimes is correct:

Gloria Jones (born 12 September 1938 in Longview, Texas) was an American singer. She recorded the 1964 northern soul classic "Tainted Love", later a hit for the British synth-pop duo Soft Cell. She was also the girlfriend of T. Rex singer Marc Bolan with whom she had a son, Rolan Bolan. She sang backing vocals and played Clavinet with T. Rex from 1973 to 1977. She was the driver of the car, an Austin Mini, that crashed and killed Marc Bolan on September 16, 1977. Gloria Jones should not be confused with the Gloria Jones who was an original member of The Blossoms.

Van Morrison and John Lee Hooker - Gloria

silvercord says...

From Wiki:

"Gloria is a rock song written by Van Morrison and originally recorded by Morrison's band Them in 1964 as the B-side of "Baby Please Don't Go", which reached #10 on the UK charts. It later reached #71 on the U.S. charts in 1966.

It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.

The song quickly become a garage rock staple and a rock standard, part of many rock bands' repertoires. It is particularly memorable for its "G-L-O-R-I-A" chorus. It is very easy to play (three-chords) and thus is popular with those learning to play guitar. Humorist Dave Barry joked that, if you drop a guitar down a flight of stairs, it will play "Gloria" on its way to the bottom.

The timeless popularity of the song may be best explained in a review written by Bill Janovitz(All Music): "The beauty of the original is that Van Morrison needs only to speak-sing , in his Howlin' Wolf growl to convey his teenage lust. "Them" never varies from the three chords, utilizing only dynamic changes to heighten the tension."[1]

Them's version of the song is included in Van Morrison's 2007 compilation album, Van Morrison at the Movies - Soundtrack Hits.

The song continues to be played by thousands of bands from famous recording artists to unknown garage bands.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels: Security

dotdude says...

When I first saw this film I was excited about the unusual use of photography. This was the first film I noticed the abrupt changing of film speeds for dramatic effect. It’s more common place now, but it stood out at the time.

There is some wicked humor in this one as well. Some scenes do get a little violent. And by the way, the character Gloria, shown in this clip, turns Rambo in a later scene. For some reason the sequence hit my funnybone.
