A Comedian's View on Postmodernism
I agree with dystosdopoigva'sdfvtoday. Some people talk like that, but those people aren't a representation of postmodernist culture. They're just like, you know, idiots? No different from the idiots that have existed since the beginning of humanity. Art, civility, perspectives on our role in society, pretensions, our relationships. Those where the things I was hoping for when I watched the video.
Upvote because I openly loathe people who talk like that. I went so far as explaining to a Botany assistant that the way she talked ensured that she would automatically receive less credibility than her peers. Regardless of how intelligent her ideas had been. She since went to grad school and studyed the coastal redwood symbiosis with fungi. When she gave her thesis presentation, I was pleased to hear her talk confidently and with conviction. I was the first one out of my seat to give her an ovation, she nailed the research.

Believe In God Or Else....Someone Will Shoot You
>> ^gwiz665:
Faith is a virus that spreads with increasing ferocity as we inoculate ourselves with reason and logic.
Being secure in my own skepticism, what irks me more and more is the transference of hate that my fellow skeptics are fond of using; employing flawed inductive reasoning to attack the idea of faith purely by comparison of the destructive tendencies of the world's extreme religions -- Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Scientology, etc.
As much as I value logic and reason, I don't think the virus is the idea of faith. Faith is a bridging gap for ideas that don't yet have all the building blocks. It also works hand in hand with friendship, as I could never live comfortably not having at least a little bit of faith in my fellow fungi.
Personally, I feel that faith should be broken down into values and attacked for the degree to which it is used.
Oncological Quackery 2.0: "Cancer is fungus" says douchebag
Impeccable logic: Fungi are white, cancer is white, thus: Cancer is fungus.

Mary Matalin: Global warming a "largely unscientific hoax"
Find me a single scientific paper, my bosonic fungi, that has not been retracted or corrected that validates your opinion.
Just one, mind you. Peer reviewed scientific paper, that is all I want.
Either every scientist is in on this grand liberal conspiracy, or you are just wrong. You need to accept what science tells you to be true. If you don't want to, then you need to come up with an experiment that explains the existing experimental data while elucidating another theory.
Look, this is how science is done.
At this point in the game, we need to seriously examine whether or not what we do will have an impact or not. Whether or not it is happening, whether or not man is the cause, is irrelevant to the issue at hand. We need to decide if we do something about it can we stop it, and if we don't how are we going to deal with the consequences.
