Man detained: speeding because his dog is dieing (Pets Talk Post)

Ryjkyj says...

I just want to set the record straight that I don't value any animal's life over a human's. (with certain exceptions like Fred Phelps) I don't even have any pets.

But if I found myself in this situation and already wasn't thinking logically, I have no idea what I would've done when that happened. I'm not saying that this guy was in the right for endangering the lives of others. But taking something that someone obviously loves so much and basically saying, "I'm going to let that thing that you love die because I need to see your ID" seems... I don't know... inhuman? Animalistic? Too cold? Too callous? It's not that hard to reach 100mph in a car, depending on what you're driving. I've seen people do it without even realizing it.

Again, not trying to justify the driver's actions. Just saying that he had already stopped thinking logically at that point and needed to be treated as such. It seems like the only way the officer really could have made the situation any worse than he did was if he just went over and shot the dog himself.

Oh... and to whom it applies: thank you for your service to our country.

Tennessee Church Shooting was about "Gays" and "Liberals"

kronosposeidon says...

Sorry. Unable to make any "librul" jokes about such a sad story. I will say this about our conservative brethren: The vast majority of them deplore such actions like these too. Outside of a few hardcore militia nuts and the Fred-Phelps types in our country, such actions are just as appalling to them as they are to us liberals. So I hope no one here starts painting all conservatives with a single brushstroke because of this horrible incident.

Fred Phelps: George Carlin is now in Hell

You guys do realize that by sifting and upvoting this you do Phelps a favor by spreading his words? This should be ignored, not spread.

Ignoring ignorance doesn't tend to do much good. However, discussing it does. On the other hand, I can't imagine many people doing anything but laughing their arse completely off! I gotta say that with a little editing, this would be worthy to play at Carlin's funeral! It had me rolling in the aisles.

As for going to hell... if it does exist, I'd rather go there if it has people with senses of humor like George Carlin. I want to be where all the sinners that made people laugh are. Can you imagine how boring heaven would be if it only contained those people that this guy considers worthy? Heaven would then be my subjective hell, and vice-versa!

If anyone is going to hell, it's gonna be Fred Phelps. Preaching hatred and ignorance doesn't sit well with the big guy upstairs.

You hit the nail on the head there. And please people dont lump real Christians in with this moron or any of the "God hates fags" church. Its like assuming every mexican in America jumped the border. Its rather infuriating.

As an atheist though, it is a matter of disbelief, not essentially "belief", persay. I don't believe in any gods. It is not as though I believe there are no gods. I can't say such a thing, because that is a matter of certainty which I can't have without evidence.

Therefore, I don't know if there are any gods, and can remain agnostic to that position, while still not believing in the existence of them.

And, I know, that all looks like a lot of wordplay, however, it is how I see the terms in the way I look at the world and universe and the most simplistic way I can describe it.

>> ^Jordass:
That doesnt quite make sense to me Raigen. As an Agnostic you dont know but as an atheist you know. As an atheist you have a belief and as an agnostic you you're not sure so it seems to me that though there is a fine line you cant be both. You either think you know and stand by your belief or you dont so if you KNOW there is no god then how can you be not sure?

"America is doomed" that part is surprisingly head on, but not with that explanation. Fred Phelps needs to die a fiery death with a jagged cross up his ass. Or so the devil would have me believe.

Fear of Islam Hurts Obama in Kentucky

elysse says...

thanks Bfresh.. i'm in Lexington myself, and i'm getting quite fed up with all of this stereotyping since the primaries moved this way. it's good to know that other people are as irritated with it as well, and this is just another case of the louder minority of the population getting the airtime. if people thought about the US as a whole the same way they think of Appalachia, the US would be nothing but Hummer-Driving, FOX watching, Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps-following, warmongering fatties...but then again, maybe we are.

[edit] what i mean to say is this: you all had better not be surprised if us Kentuckians are more sensitive to this kind of hilbilly fingerpointing than usual. it's been far worse than usual because of the primaries, and we might just start lashing out.
