Check Out Them Pipes - Pavarotti at 29 - "La Donna e Mobile"

Jinx says...

In the early days of this millennium, when I was but a boy that could only access the internet through a computer at my school's library, I would spend my time "researching" the works of Joel Vietch on RatherGood.com. One of them was a short flash animation of Pavarotti singing lovingly to some elephants. Since then I have been unable to disentangle "Elephants yeah" from "E di pensier". 'tis a curse, i seek solace only in shared suffering. Sorry.

Looks like Flash, not hand drawing...

"by hand" doesn't mean "on paper". You can draw by hand in Flash using a tablet. Most Flash animation is crap but, to me, it's greatest use is as a digital tool for traditional cel animation (much of this looks like basic frame-by-frame rotoscope drawing animation AKA hand-drawn cel animation traced over live footage.)

Yup

1. Kerpal 27 up, 2 down

Kerpal is a fictional character named in a famous prank call (often attributed to the Jerky boys).

The man in the prank call identifies himself as Kerpal and seems to be of ambiguous South Asian descent. A man known as Akhtar (the correct Pakistani name) answers the telephone. Kerpal then alleges that Akhtar's older daughter kicked his dog. After minutes of confusion it is revealed that the daughter knows nothing about kicking Kerpal's dog, let alone who Kerpal is. The call eventually degrades into a shouting match with Kerpal shouting obscenities to no-end.

At least three different Flash animations have been created to visualize this call. The simplest one, thought to be the original and generally most liked, was created by Adam Letalik and published by FlatPlanet.org in late 1999.

Hah! We used to put the original Weebl flash animation on loop during overtime at work when our brains starting fizzling because all we saw for 16 hours was the inside of our office. LOOK'IT MY HORSE!

But why did they censor the horse penis?

I was able to find the basis of this video from reddit. Its a fan made 3d animation (sorry, no direct japanese link this time) of several meme's. The 2 guys are from a popular (?) gay wrestling movie, many 4channers have probably seen it as a flash animation played/synched to one of Kirby's background soundtracks. The steam roller is from jojo's adventure, and the girl (!) driving it is the vocaloid character Kagamine Rin. The scene is a remake of one of the over-the-top drifting scenes from the anime Initial D.

Agreed. The attraction of Yahtzee's reviews is his delivery and the Flash anims that go with it. You might even find out a bit about the game.

I don't think the idea of reviewing a game is to bend space and time and end up having the same opinion as every reader...

Sifted music video:

Because it makes you so damn happy! It's a cute little tune that flows over with happy vibes and charmingly naïve life philosophy. The music video is a funny low-budget animation, and underscores the themes of the music in a brilliant way. Besides, it was the first video I ever posted, back in my probie days, and I had a hell of a time trying to get it sifted. I therefore have a special connection to it, and I get a little surprised every time I realize it actually is in my sifted list.

Pqueued shortfilm:
http://www.videosift.com/video/Ninjai-The-Little-Ninja-ep1

The flash animation series Ninjai is really a gem on the internet. It pushes boundaries for flash animation as an art form. It is brutal and beatiful at the same time, with both gory action sequences and stunningly gorgeous camera angles. This first episode sets the tone perfectly for the rest of the series.

Thanks. Great find.

I've been trying to do some Flash animating of my own, but it's such a hassle. Everything takes so long to do, even the easy little things.

But this gave me some good ideas.

I still love the style of flash animation he uses!

Doesn't really look like flash to me ... looks more like some sort of tracing paper with him drawing the scenes with perhaps a soft graphite pencil from behind the paper. You can sort of see the vague blurry outlines of his fingers and drawing hand moving around behind the paper. Some cursory searching confirms my suspicion:

[fyi] via http://animationcritic.blogspot.com/:

I actually completely lifted the technique really from an obscure old arthouse movie called The Mystery of Picasso where the filmmaker [Clouzot] spent a few days with Picasso in his studio. Picasso painted on transluscent canvases and [Clouzot] shot him from the other side, shot the canvases from the other side. I sort of took that and just added narration to it.

I do agree with you that his style is awesome though : )
