Blade Runner game intro
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
I've been re-reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep again.
As good as BladeRunner was, I wish they would do a remake of the book that's more true to the story. Interesting characters like Buster Friendly, and the idea of Mercerism are ignored. Also, they could ditch the film noir schtick.
Harold Rosenbaum Chartered Accountant Extreme Pt. 1
Not a lot of fans of film noir and crazy accounting ninja fights, eh?

You know how big of a film snob comment that was? The scale is hitting a 110 right now.

“i've never seen this. and despite my love of portishead and my love of film noir,... I didn't like it.
slightly too amateurish, in lighting, in editing, in shot framing,... jeez, when did i become a film snob? crap. i hate film snobs...
a bit more contrast (some blown out whites), a bit more grit, a more 'appropriate' looking apartment/hotel setting, some scene establishing shots, and some camera movement... so bored with no activity in the background and no camera movement... glad i hung in there for the death scene, which is soo bad its almost like they were making fun of film noir.
picking such a good song as background was a savy choice, otherwise nobody would see this.”

hah, yeah, sorry about that. I thought at the end if I constructively pointed out some of the things I thought were lacking then it wouldn't be just some bullshit film snob comment,... but it still was. I'd be willing to bet this video gets >20 votes in the next weeks.
This happens to me more often than I'd like; a song that I really like and that is very visually appealling to me (in the sense that you can close your eyes and imagine all sorts of accompanying visual themes and elements) is mangled on the visual side by someone who's not yet a director. This was especially a let down because the premise is fine (climactic murder film noir), but every details betray the inexperience of the artist. He/she'd make a fine closeup portrait photographer.

Returner action clip
"Re-Turner" (RETURNER or Ritaanaa) is a 2002 live action Japanese movie, directed by Takashi Yamasaki starring Takeshi Kaneshiro and Anne Suzuki. Suzuki plays a soldier from the future sent back in time to stop an incident that led to an alien invasion of Earth and slaughter of the majority of the human race. Kaneshiro's character is a reluctant hitman that she soon persuades to help her perform her mission.
This is the second film by director Takashi Yamasaki to utilize a number of computer generated visual effects showing bullet time, mecha and transforming alien ships (including a Boeing 747 that appears to transform into a mechanical dragon-ship with aliens on board). The film shows a clear film noir style. The villains in the film are reminiscent of the type of gangsters depicted in Hong-Kong style triad movies. Despite accusations of it being a derivative work, this film lays the groundwork for later CGI-heavy productions such as Casshern.

Dark City - Music Video
Dark City is a underrated sci-fi classic, which I liked and enjoyed more then The Matrix. This is an excellent music video for the film using Rammstein track Sonne. Also featuring Jack Bauer.
Dark City is a 1998 film written by Alex Proyas, Lem Dobbs and David S. Goyer, and directed by Proyas. It stars Rufus Sewell, William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland, and Jennifer Connelly. While not a box office hit, it has a considerable reputation. Film critic Roger Ebert is a well-known fan of the movie, having rated it with four stars out of four and naming it the best film of 1998. Ebert uses it in his teaching, and also appears on a commentary track for the DVD.
The story begins with a man waking in a hotel room with no memory, which soon proves to be but one of many troubles. He is being sought by police, who believe him to be a serial killer, and also by a group of mysterious men with psychokinetic powers. Furthermore, something appears to be wrong with the world at large: time, memory, and identity behave in unusual ways. The film is dedicated to the memory of Dennis Potter, which may be considered a useful indicator of the style of the story. The style of the film might also be said to owe something to Expressionism and film noir, and may be considered neo-noir.

John Cassavetes slugs Ronald Reagan on the chin: The Killers
Plot Summary for
The Killers (1964)from IMDB:
Supposedly based on the short story by Ernest Hemingway. In this film noir, two hitmen want to find out why their latest victim (a race car driver!) "just stood there and took it" when they came to shoot him. Ronald Reagan plays a rich, double-crossing bad guy. A young Angie Dickinson (looking just like Ellen Barkin) plays the femme fatale.
Superman v. the Mad Scientist (1941) - better animation than today's cartoons?
i used to really enjoy these old superman cartoons. interesting framing of shots and shadowy film noir angles, and of course the smooth framerate of the animation is awesome. I want to go watch Akira now.
